How much do Space Marines Weigh?
I posted a reply in a thread about Terminators being run over tanks and rather than go off topic I'll post my thoughts here...
Space Marines are described as being 8ft-9ft tall (about 1.5 times human height), with some exceptionally large individuals even larger than this (Passanius in Ultramarines 4th Company, Abaddon is exceptionally large too). But how much do they weigh, both in and out of their armour?
Well, we all know Space Marines are impressively muscled chaps, so if we take a 6ft regular human who is seriously buff as weighing about 20 stone (280 pounds, or 130kg) then a Space Marine who is 1.5 times the height (9 feet tall) would have 1.5^3 times the volume, and so would weigh approximately 3.4 times as much as the regular human.
(I know these figures are very rough and ready, and would be affecte dby differences in space marine physiology etc, but this gives a ball park figure to play with)
So an unarmoured Space Marine would weigh 68 stone, 950 pounds or 430kg.
The fluff also says that a Space Marine has real difficulty in moving around in Power Armour if it is unpowered. Medieval Knights used armour that was 30kg-50kg, and UK SAS soldiers may be required to carry more than 80kg in their packs.
So a suit of Power Armour could weigh anything from half a tonne (500kg) to a full tonne (1000kg) depending on your interpretation of "difficult to move unaided" for the Space Marine.
So I think a Space marine in Power Armour weighs between 1 tonne and 1.5 tonnes...
What do you think? Do you agree/disagree? Am I spouting rubbish, or talking some sense?
Power armour/terminator armour size comparison
I'm really sorry if this has been posted before (whenever I use search function it sends me to a blank screen) and I have been googling this for over an hour.
I just need to know how big is terminator armour in comparison to power armour, I would be ever so grateful if anyone has any links to images that compare the two directly.
