    Best looking ships?

I'd have to go for the Kushan. I like the lines on the bigger ships, and the look of the smaller ships always seems to speak of high technology and refinement.

Turanic Raider's disigns are simply beautiful, i do agree the ion array sux, but the carrier is awesome, with the standard corvette being the best (2 heavy cannons + mimic + salvage), and their missile corvettes are just brutal

I'm sorry, but it's all about the Swarmers and the Kushani Destroyers.

Turanic Raiders do have sexy designs, I'll give you that. But, the Kadeshi simply rule. Period. Every ship is curved, slick, smooth. They really look "clean" no pun intended.

Although there were only three ships from the bentusi ever actually seen (the Trading Ship, the Cargo Barge, and the Super Acolyte), those ones did look pretty cool. Imagine the rest of their stuff.

I have to say, though, Raider corvettes are pretty tight.
    Also Taiidani destroyers.
    Kushan strike craft.
    Somtaaw multibeam frigates and destroyers.
    Kadeshi Advanced swarmers and MBF.

I didn't like the Beast ships too much at all...stolen ships with icky red scabs.

If I were to choose one to have I'd go for the Somtaaw MBF.

I really like to go with the "cleaner designs" and after thinking about it, the Bentusi really do have a nice round curvy feel to them, as well. As a matter of fact, the Somtaaw Dreadnought (which was inspired by Bentusi trade ships) also meets this standard. Although, I do not care for how they placed the Mass Driver turrents.

yeah, you could factor in the weapons/strategy in for each ship too...after all, what's the point of having a ship at all if you can't blow up some space crap?

dude, each race is awesome in its own ways
    Kushan - ummm, donno
Taiidan - their distroyers and heavycruizers are just tight
Bentusi - bEhOlD tHe PoWeR oF tHe IoN cAnNoN
Turanic - Theyre capital ship disign sucks, but they have a awesome carrier and the best in game corvettes, i love corvettes so this is why i vote for them (VOTE FOR TURANIC RAIDERS VOTE FOR THEM VOTE FOR THEM)
Beast - Nothing, they copied all the other races and put disgusting red marks on them
Somtaaw - Their dreadnaught is tight, and their distroyer acually looks like a "distroyer"
Kadesh - They have awesome ship disigns, which i think were inspired by the bentusi (notice several bits of their disign u can swear they were deprived from the bentusi), example the kadesh multibeam frigate looks somewhat like a enlarged ion fighter, however, these guys have a horrable lack for missiles and corvettes, but they beat anyone in fighters, but if you take out the fuel cells for the kadesh, theyre as good as dead, if the turanic raiders went to the kadesh and gave them their carrier and corvettes, the kadesh would be a much more fiercer opponent

Nah, the Kadesh are fine the way they are. They have what they need to survive (believe it or not.. they are pirates). If the Kadesh wanted to, they could easily capture any Turanic or Taiidan fleet. But, they don't, because they don't need to.

Look, of course you need a quick, powerful strike force, right? That's where the Swarmers come into play, they are fast, manuverable, and pack a big punch, together they could easily destroy an unescorted Heavy Cruiser.

You need something to repair and refuel your fighters, that's where the fuel pods come into play. You don't really need anything else in that area.

You need something to deal with caps, super caps, and motherships, right? Something that doesn't really need to be fast or manuverable, but it has to pack a punch. That's where the Multibeam Frigate comes into play. Escorted by Swarmers, and those escorted by fuel pods, several Multibeamers could waste a mothership in minutes.

You also need a base of operations. Needleship is great here. Mobile, fast for it's size, and it has a nice grid of home fire.

They don't really need anything else.

Missile distroyers + frigates and distroyers could waste a kadesh fleet quickly, if you take out the fuel pods either the kadesh have to construct more or they are screwed

So? That's why you escort the fuel pods with Multibeam frigates. Multibeamers in correct numbers would obliterate a missle destroyer, and frigates. Why do you think the Kushan where the only to leave the Garden? Because the Kadesh are so good at what they do.They have all they need, trust me.

Of course, if you think about it the Kadeshi are geared for lighting strikes: take out the enemy fast before they know what hits them. In the conditions of the nebula, with all that sensor distortion, and employing their hyperspace inhibitors, the Kadeshi can easily annihlate a fleet, assuming they attack rapidly and can seriously damage the enemy before he can recover.

Unfortunately, against a well-prepared fleet, the Kadeshi aren't nearly as powerful. I prefered groups of two destroyers, one Heavy Cruiser, and a Missile Destroyer, plus separate groups of various strike craft, and frigate groups made up of a mix of ships. When properly coordinated, such a force could easily obliterate a Kadeshi force consisting of the ships seen in the game. Heck, even with just a destroyer, a few frigates, and some mixed strike craft I was able to take out three needle ships.

So, really, the Kadeshi don't intimidate me much.

Now, if I were in a carrier escorted by nothing more than a few fighters and frigates, I think I'd just be giving up and worshipping the great and almighty nebula

Exactly! That's what I'm talking about. The backbone of both the Turanics and Taiidani are carrier groups. Both can be easily obliterated by the Kadesh in the Nebula. The Kadeshi are raiders, pirates.

I really like the Kadeshi. They are awesome. And they are very powerful. When I played through Homeworld again, I captured a lot of the Multibeam Frigates. When I tested them on my ships, I found out that a group of 19 can take out a Heavy Cruiser in about 2 seconds. And the swarmers are super powerful. The fuel pods could have used some more armor, though. Of coarse, they had to make them possible to defeat.

The Kushan have the most beautiful ships over all. Though I like the Kadeshi and their sleek lion-look the Kushan have more ships to like, with at least as good looks.

The corvette designs are just awsome. Very nice and slimmed. The have a professional look that I like.

All the kushan ships except the destroyers and the HC look very good in my opinion.

The kadesh rule, their mothership is awesome (and would be mighty visous near someone's eyes as well...) and the white designs, in my twisted view at least, have a strange similarity to current Space Shuttle designs.

(/me suggests a "Higara is really Earth" arguement for this and is immediatly hit in the face with various items of footwear.)

Outpost Universe and Homeworld Universe maybe linked in a way, in Outpost (which is centered about our time) earth was struck by an astroid which took out all life in it, the few survivors went to new terra, which they had to leave because it was infected by a microbe, a suggestion is that the Outposters are still wondering around several million years later, or they finally found a suitable planet, and in the same million years life had to redevelop, which resulted in the now-hiigarans

Galactic Drift supports it too, in our time were at the outer bands/middle bands of our galaxy, however, in homeworld, hiigara is in the central hub of the galaxy, hmmmmmmmmm....

And the continents on Hiigara are diffrent than earth

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm????

    wtf run-on sentence

I see what the_artist is saying...I was watching Wings a few minutes ago and some of those ship/plane/thing designs look like Kadeshi ships. Almost all of those experimental space planes, X-whatevers, look somewhat like the KMBF. Anyone else seen that little saucer thing that's shot up into the air with a laser? Just elongate the back end of that and you have a needleship.

Sorry, this goes way back to the middle of the thread when you guys were talking about kadesh strenght and all.

as Beast, even after they cut down the beast, when I could get out 5 or 6 HCs, I would generally just form a formation and gather resources, then HS them around and kick the crap out of then enemy CS. Wasn't terribly difficult, even in a MP game, I would get my partner to defend us both while I spent all my RU's on resourcers and all my time on construction. Worked pretty well.

I like the Kushan carrier, I think its a great design, the unit actually seems to have a head... Or is that my imagination...

Somtawws fleet is pretty cool to although the recon dish sucks...

But overall the winner goes to the bentusi, it might just be cos of the sheer size of the trade stations or the masive array of near continuous Ion beam fire..... man it rips the s**t through my fleet in a matter of mins... I know thats the point of the level!!!!! but still its pretty impressive.........
