    Model Update: 18.9.06 Frigate & Fighter (New Models)

    Hi, :wavegbye:

    I have done a small model of a ship. It should be a frigate to destroyer size vessel.
    It's very basic, so not much detail ... it took only 20 to 30 minutes to have it look like this.
    I'm relative new to medelling and thats one of my first tries:

    I'll try to texture it ... but I'm not really good at setting up UV's. Not to say Making a texture ... ;-)

    *sry should be in "Homeworld 2 - Tanis Shipyards" not "Mods in progress"

    Reminds me of the Colossus from Freespace 2.

    Model Update:

    Hehe yea ... it has quite some similarities :nod:.

    But that was not realy the intention ^^.

    So ... now for the update.
    I have played around a bit with the UV-Texture Editor and voila ...
    My first complete UV set for one of the ships is done.

    Not the one above ... but at least one textured ship



    I found the Texture around the ship somewhere on my computer
    but the unbelievably cool white windows are done by myself :square: ...

    ... oh God ... how poor is that :-P

    Now I have to learn how to use Photoshop :iws: ...
    because I can't even do simple things like a yellow smily with a blue nose in it.

    Very interesting ship but in my opinion it is a bit bland near the back. Try adding something there. But other then that it looks great!

    Update

    Hi ^^ somethink old in it's new "glory" :thumb: ...

    Today I have remade the MBF from Cata.

    right version will be a low-detail lod (86 Verts)
    the left one will be lod0 or 1 (414 Verts)



    I think I will add a bit additional detail as goblins ... or make the second models extensions be the goblins ... we'll see.

    I would like to find someone who can make a texture for it ...
    I will do the UV's but I'm at my girlfriend this weekend so work will be paused ;-)

    Can someone give me an advise where to find a good photoshop tutorial ???

    Medel Update

    So ... all images uploaded. :nod:

    At first here are all the Frigat variants I made :
    There are three Classes ...
    1.The all known Multibeam Frigate - two variants: with armor plates and standart
    2.Scout-Supprot Frigae (the thing with the cylinders)
    3.Multimissile Frigate - two variants: one with round lunch bay and one with quadrats



    And now a new thing: a sort of Superfreighter.



    I'll do a few new Cruiser, Frigate, Corvette and fighterships soon - I tend to make a new race based on the look of the freightership.
    As far as I know how to mod and edit scriptfiles of, effects, weapons, ships and so on it won't be a Problem to get them ingame, especially since CFHodEd
    ... but at first I will take a look aigain at the texturing tutorial from AFF team :bandit: --- I really lack in this.


    I like to get a few commants suggestions about the frigat variants and the new freighter. What do you like, what should be aborted ... maby new suggestions and ideas. ^^ :dmille:

    I love the freighter, very utilitarian. It'd look great with a nice dirty "old metal" kinda texture.

    The frigate variants are consistent for the most part, but I noticed on one of them you have much more in the way of bevelled panels than on the others. Bevelled panels are nice in moderation, but I'd suggest cutting back on them just a bit. I'm referring to the white frigate model, the one you seem to have based the others on (leave some of the panels in, but reduce the overall number.) That's my only suggestion for now. Keep up the good work!

    Hehe ... jea ... but all the frigates are based on the one top right on the fourth picture.
    ... for the freighter ... I agree ^^ a old metal style ztexture would be nice. But have to made it before. ... Maby I'll take one of the Maya Standart textures for a test there is a good one :-).

    For reducement of pannels ... I want to remoce the one where the weapons should stay and insert some more detail for the weapon.
    ... with remove do you mean to reduce poly's (it's under 190 I think) or for the visual look of the ship ????

    If so, can I get a hold of it to mess around with?

    Whatever you do with it ^^ ... I like to get credit to the model.

    Hi I'm back. My Computer was infected by a trojan and at first I wasn't able to kill
    these stupid thing, called hldrrr.exe or something like that, but now all's clear and
    work contiues.

    Because of this Probs and the fact I worte tests the whole last weks I did't try to get
    the Models Ingame with CFHodEd ... I hope there is going to be a tutorial very soon.

    But now a bit eyecandy :

    My new Frigate / Cruiser Class Ship. Done today after school. No name for now ...
    620 Verts
    Armement at the moment:
    1 x Dual Turret (maby an additional one under the ship in the future)
    3 x Torpedo/Missile tube


    A Fighter ...
    224 Verts

    Like ever I like to know what you think about them and if you like to see them in a mod ;-) ...

    I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe that you will have some clipping issues on the fighter. The rear central section of the fighter may be to thin around the edge and you may get textures showing through in the game. Besides that they are great models. I like the frigate alot and second the idea of another turret on the bottom.

    thx for positive feedback. I will add a turret at the buttom tomorrow and take a look at the fighter.
    I'll also post screens of a frigate with fighter bay and a larger samll carrier variant. They are done but i'm too tired now.

    Nice little models, i'm trying to learn 3ds Max 8 the best thing i've done so far was with a tutorial, a Knight from a chess set, and a P-38. Keep up the good work mate. I only got a trial of it though..

    Edit: I've done a little model. Its my Heavy Interceptor with 4 cannons at the front. Mabey someone could help me stick it ingame, or texture it!
