    Maybe you'd like to change that statement to a question?

    It's quite simple - you model and texture a planet, animate it, send it off to the OE, and from there export it to the game where it can then be used, specifically in the ME for map-making. Any more questions?

    OH! And I know it's a little late to say this, but uh... Those planets are kinda flat Too late to try and make the models look like more than floating speres with color, but I'm sure some mountain ranges and even great walls are visible from space.

    yeh well, were getting to that. and weve also got to encorporate the onto them so give us a bit of time and hopefully me and skils will have it reday when your ready wth the coding

    Yeah, well I don't think that should be hard. I mean, how many animations and FX can it have? Take maybe a day or two to just fix up the model a bit then redo the animations and feed it through the OE again. Whereas I'll be working right on through the next coupla weeks, for sure, just trying to get this thing playable.

    Ethiir check the M class planets they both have mountain ranges but on moon like planets you wouldnt see the mountain ranges to much, anyway that is with out fx etc i might add an atmosphere fx to make them look more realistic, and Ethiir I'll code the enviromental object simply because then i can test anims etc and the enviromental objects coding has no relation to the race coding

    alright skills can you plz check the forums bud?

    Also just as anad we need people to help us with the UI (User Interface - the bit with the minimap) so any Computer artists are welcome and id like to ask if anyone has a custom UI or one for a mod with a space scheme for Imperial, Necrons, Tau, 'Nids, Eldar, D Eldar, etc. it would be appriciated if you popped onto our forums.

    Ah, but I thought that we could have different planet types provide different bonuses to whoever owns them, and that would probably require my expertise. Of course, if you can code them I won't try to stop you. But don't be surprised if I still end up changing what you did, alright?

    Anyway, I have some ideas for music - its just a problem of being allowed to redistribute it. Anyone heard of a band called Nightwish? Some of their music is perfect for this mod.

    Also - I have made the Nova Cannon. I will post it on savefile when i get the chance.

    lol, opera/metal doesnt usually work with dow to be honest.
    there might be 1 or 2 songs. but i dont think night wish is a good idea. also i think it should be hardrock/heavy metal that would fit in. also you should add in a few calm, easing type music which would also fit well. (sort of how halo blends the music in and comes up with some sort of amazing tune) if you could pull that off, it will make the mod alot better off and make it memorable.

    that should be interesting.

    heres what im thinking. have the ships charge and fire the orbital bombardment (if imperials) (also known as a lance strike IIRC) at a planet which should be an entity with health. and when it dies the entity will spawn another, but will have a barren looking texture with lava streaks etc.

    if your thinking of planets as bases like forgeworlds etc that should be a gr8 way to do it. also seeing as you got the worlds already it should need a bit of code and its done.

    Hi there, guys... just wanted to pop in for a moment and say that the work on this mod is looking amazing. I was a bit skeptical at first as to how well Dawn of War could be modded to work with a Battlefleet Gothic setting, but it looks like y'all are really pulling it off.

    By the way, I was wondering about the tiles you're using for the BG maps. Obviously, they need to make use of the space setting of the mod... if you need any help with that or custom tiles, I could make some stuff for you. I've got some amazing PhotoShop tools that do stars, nebulae, and even suns, moons, and planets quite well. Here's an example (a WIP piece for "The Bloody March"):



    If you've already got stuff to work with, then that's fine... just thought I'd go ahead and offer while I had the sample piece to show off.

    Anyway, great work guys. Looking forward to this one.

    Croaleigh, that just shows my work up lol, we have a starfield but that planet is cool, if you want you can make planets send them to me and ill rigger them up with markers etc so we can get them working as sp etc

    in the second space marine book its got a gd aircraft battle along with the 1st ultramarines book with the eldar. 2nd sm book has gd description og exterminatus

    Skills - That's cool. Any particular type of planet that you'd like to see? I can do ocean worlds, dead worlds, moons, forests, cities, deserts... and a variety of colors and shapes. I can also do suns/stars, and some other space-type stuff as well.

    Also, would it be of any use to you to have some of these stretched out map-style? Perhaps for skinnin planet models or the like? I could make some samples for you of different types and send them to you so that you can see whether they'd be useful or not.

    basically what you see there is some untextured stuff but not all of it, we have an eldar fleet donated to us by another previous bfg mod. we now have a texturer and will be full steam ahead soon

    well, you would need someway of building a base/ships and it would add a nice touch to the game even if its just a super ability that can be used once in a while. also with dc out you could try to implement attacking planets from planetfall using the meta maps. and build bases like normal. that would also give the dow feel it has and also having space battles now would just bring it over the edge for alot more fun. also doing an exterminatus on a planet means you could lose the map to play on and wouldnt need to conquer it.

    it would be a pretty good idea imo:talk: :talk:

    awesome pic talos, we'll work with it.
    and Heretic, dont be so hopeful, I was thinking of starting the campaign off by replacing the planet picture with an overview of a star system (e.g. the one in the codex min showed us) and then moving in to certain secions of space so kinda like the camera is one step further away than normal, but hopefully we can build up to intergrating space and land battles in the future. Im gonna have to use land scenes for the movies anyway from the fluff you posted on the forums. but lets just take it one step at a time, i.e. finishing models.

    campaign should be secondary to nothing but getting a working game, we can play skirmish without a campaign, let get it working before we dedicate all our resources to malekiths task your all doing a great job!

    On a lesser note, all techtrees and weapons list now in pdf format. Available from forum under mod team only section in the techtrees thread

We have some planets ready to go (they are our mods sp's). We have texturers finishing up models and a coder working overdrive. We have 2 full techtrees claiming heritage from star trek armadas style mixed with dow. If anyone can texture or model please feel free to apply in the progress section of our mod, the more people we have the faster it gets released, plus team members get the mod a month early (aprox)
