You wanted little ships? Have some little ships, the Thunderhawk gunships.
(They are very low poly, purely because they have to be).

Nice models, but I bet you couldn't make a Necron Cairn class Tombship. (hint, hint)

Since this is the only BFG related mod, I ask my question here. How about a Battlefleet Gothic mod for Homeworld 2? It would seem that HW2 is better suited for the job, as it's already a space strategy, and a Relic game too.

@Rainel: Have a little fun playing spot the Necron fleet. They were done months ago.

Man! Even the Necron ships look nasty. Picard would soil himself. Kirk would pee himself. Darth Vader would totally say "HOLY ***!"

That's if you could add in those elements anyway...

Again, I believe no sci-fi fleet from any sci-fi show or movie could withstand that kind of uberness.

Can you take here a link to a bigger picture of allmodels? I like it so much.

  28. #778
i wonder how easily all those ships working together could destroy ayother sci fi fleet.

  29. #779
@Malcador123: Star Trek Fleet.. It's be like destroying a box of tissues with a 20'000 ton Napalm bomb.
Star Wars.. *shrugs* its up in the air, but with a Necron Tombship and the Planet Killer i'm guessing without too much difficults.
Babylon 5... see the ST answer.

    Blackstone Fortress pics later today.

@wxyz: It's also out of date matey It will be rebuilt soon enough.

IIRC, the spikes are supposed to be aligned, looking good though

BFG Vs Freespace 2.... that'd be a helluva show. Good job guys... really looking forward to something playable someday!

Khorney, iirc, the points are aligned when unactivated.

Kad: what's the polycount on this BF?

  33. #783
@Lleman: Either just under or just over 5000 polys. (The points have most of the detail to themselves.)

Some Chaos renders, painstakingly modelled to GW concept art and the tabletop models, when appropiate.
The third ship is Angron's personal flagship, the Conqueror - a work in progress (it doesn't look too small in that picture, but it's massive. The Conqueror will be the fifth Chaos relic unit, along with the Planet Killer, and other unannounced ships.

Essentially, chaos will be split into two paths - Warband and Legion. The warband path will allow the player to choose faster, and lots more ships then the opposite path, which allows for five more paths, regarding each Chaos God and Undivided, each with a relic unit. The Chaos race will allow for maximum choice, maximum pain, maximum badassery and plus; cool ships.

The Despoiler and Desolator are being re-done by myself. (I was talking with Heretic about it earlier) While he uses my "Chaos Cruiser Base" and does the Cruisers.

  42. #792
whats the third one supposed to be, looks to imperial for chaos? im liking it though.

  43. #793
    @Malcador123: Angrons flagship "Conqueror"

The Chaos Desecration Yards, which will serve as the basic fleet producing structure, producing Cruisers and other smaller vessels.

You talked with Heretic? I was under the impression you told him his Battleships weren't good enough and were going to redo them yourself? Apologies if I got the wrong impression, but that seems like the extent of the "talk".

@Gorb: Pretty much. But as I pointed out on our Forum its not Heretics problem but the Poly limit we were working under. Due to the high number of Turrets on Chaos Ships you had two choices making them.

1: Do as many of the guns as possible at the cost of hull detail. or
2: Do the hull detail and fit as many turrets as the polys can afford.

So we settled on 3: Double the chaos ship poly limits. Eldar are likely receiving the doubled poly limit too.

EDIT: With either choice there were obvious elements of the ship lacking. For 1: it was hull detail across the board. For 2 it was the fact you'd be missing 90% of the turrets or more.

So i'm re-doing the Battleships and Heretics got the Relic Units and structures under control. Then the Cruisers can get some of the love

And so far the building are fething brilliant. When I was going over my own concepts the Chaos Structures had me stumped as to what to do. Heretic found the answer

12 000 eh? Is the Despoiler a rare vessel in your tree, a relic unit maybe? Sounds quite a lot otherwise...

Ok, so here goes with the crits:

    * Hollowed barrels. Unless those cannons are really big (ingame viewable size of a Leman Russ barrel), that is really pretty much unneeded. A fairly reasonable effect can be achieved by just texturing on a black circle at the front of a closed barrel. That's what Relic has done for 90% of their weapons, and it works wonderfully. This especially goes for the smaller turrets.

    * Detailing on Hangar bay floor. The detailing there could easily be replaced with detailing on textures, possibly with an added shine map to simulate height differences. This possibly applies to other parts of the ship.

    * I personally think you could cut the lower height segment of the turret (the non-angled part), and save a lot of polies there. It really won't be that noticable ingame.

    * As for 12000 poly limit, sounds like a waste to be honest. This is an RTS engine, optimized for zoomed out battles. 98% of the time you'll play zoomed out, yet with that polycount my old machine wouldn't be remotely able to play the mod. If you want cinematical graphics, there are probably quite better suited game engines to choose from out there.

    That's my 4.5 cents.
