I think the issue with a lot of Battlefleet Gothic mods is, like many others, the time it takes up to actually make a mod, let alone a total conversion. That and the sheer workload.

However; this mod will be the exception to the rule.

I would just like to add my gratitude to the modders for attempting to create this mod. I am REALLY looking forward to playing it, even on a public alpha platform. Keep up the good work guys.

So when you have 12 .NIL files and 47 .LUA files, you expect that to be a pretty decent base for a racial ability set. Heck, I can create a functioning race with that amount of files.

However, when you take into account that's it's merely the files required to get one set of abilities working for one race, things get slightly more complicated.

On the upside, choosing a Chaos Mark actually does something now. I wish progress wasn't as slow as it is, but RL is rather time-consuming. Anyhow, keep those eyeballs peeled.

As a testament to the sheer amount of work I decide to torture myself with, I've got just under sixty models to rig, animate, unwrap and texture. This is going to take a while...but hell it'll be worth it just to see the tiny turrets moving around and blowing seven tonnes of spaceship out of eachother.

If anyone is willing to help in this task, feel free to drop a PM - I've got free time but very little of it, as I need to study for imminent exams soon.

Funnily, it's SoaSA that reminds me of this mod... but then i'm biased.
Hm, except perhaps for arcs of fire. Perhaps some insight as to the firing mechanics could be nice, 'tic, no?

The firing arcs are gay and deserve to burn in a fire.

    That is all.

When it comes to this mod- say nothing of death! You will jinx it!!!

Kidding- glad to hear this is still going. Then again, with the crew that's working on it, I don't think there's any crew more determined than this crew is.

wow, good to hear something happening here guys!
I apologise that I haven't talked to you guys more on msn or anything, I've just had sooo much piling ontop of me (mostly of my own making) and things have had to give, as I wasn't really that much in-the-loop as it were I felt I should keep myself outta it so that I don't annoy you guys when I don't keep my targets, I apologise yet again.
I didn't consider this mod dead though, just hibernating if nothing else , feel free to get in touch H or Gorb if you need anything and the forums I set-up are still available for use if you want it or I could probably sort us out another one. (I am assuming I'm more of an honourary team member now if anything at all?)

The invision/zetaboards site, yes - they've had a hosting problem for some time and don't look like they're gonna get round to it.
Hence I hosted my own forums for the mod over at: http://basite.110mb.com/BfG/
as far as I know that one's still up, I checked it the other day. I'll be pretty p'ed off if it's not...

I offered Heretic my help in the texturing department, and just thought I'd post a WiP shot...

Will post an update as and when...

Your presence amongst these fine fellows that are Heretic & Gorb will undoubtedly boost the mod forward by a good few parsecs ^^
Sweet texjob, the measure of the WIP promises gorgeous ships in the future.
I guess the modularity in the batteries/bays/hull/... elements will allow for a greater ease in the art workflow, amirite?

Truly magnificient. Fleshpoint, your work is ace, no less.
Say, though, have you textured variants of the prow, flanges etc or are they teamcolourable already?

Believe me when I say that I squealed in excitement upon seeing this.
    Thanks so much, Fleshp0int!

  31. #1081
    Glorious. Simply glorious.

  32. #1082
Hehe, glad it's going over well!

Lleman: It is indeed team colouring already, I have created the wtp files so far, I just compiled them with different schemes for each shot hehe.

Once I'm done (just a little bit more weathering on the hull) I can do a specular and glow texture for adding into the rsh files then it's finished and ready to be posted back to Heretic

    Cheers.

    Splendid!
As i told Gorb & Heretic last night, i really love the effect you gave to the tex to simulate enormous overlapping/welded plating on the prow and how such a characterful detail as the squadron marking add realism to what is otherwise but a virtual grey box.
Taken as a whole, the texture makes the feeling of crushing size and weight believable. I can't wait for the next piece to come from your 'paintyard' ^^

They're torpedo tubes, not front exhausts

  39. #1089
Front exhausts ??? Thud they're torpedo tubes

Those textures are...well amazing. It's nice to see true artistic talent in a mod. This and Fok just continue to excel in really amazing texture work. Great job Fleshp0int. And Thud really? Front exhaust? lol

Ahh people.. of course I knew they were Front-facing Torp Tubes.. the Exhaust scars are CAUSED BY THEM! hehe. However, for a ship to force an emergency stop in RIDICULOUSLY FAST SPEED MOVE, they'd make good front thrusters Har har..

Ah man.. I can't stop looking at those ships now they are so darn s*xy!!!!

And gimme a week or so and I should be able to lend a hand here and there, possibly compiling a UI or at the very least improving the mod forums.

You don't disappoint gentlemen. Excellent detailing and torp tubes look photo-realistic almost. Wondering what glow FX you'll be adding finallly to really bring it alive.

I take it this is still in one of those closed testing stages when there is no public download... to bad.

Right public voting time! as you're all eager to have some input to the mod, I'm gonna ask you guys what forums you'd like to use. I'm moving the forums again (mainly as the last ones were hardly used and I now have my own paid for domain and webspace), so I'm open to suggestions for what to use as hopefully you guys will be using it a fair bit. The only rule is: free software.
