    It has to do with the characteristic of the beam. The positrons are held by a magnetic field that prevents is from disassociating. The magnetic field ceases to hold the particles when it hits something, int his case a ship. However, the particles need time to disperse, so the ships doesnt blow up all at once. It will penetrate into the ship, then disperse inside it, causing a non-instant internal explosion.

    Tanhauser, however, simply consumes its target since the beam it firse is very thick. Or at least it was when it was fired at the girty lue. It seemed to get weaker and smaller everytime it next appears in the show -_-

    Nope. When fired at the girty lue the view was from the side and the beam was clearly as thich as the girty lue itself. Ep49 when akatsuki intercepted it, it was also seen from the side and barely thicker than a lohengrin shot. In fact, there is a short view of the beam coming straight on as seen by ramius thru the window, and its really more or less the same as lohengrin when dominion fired at AA.

    When Ramius saw the beam coming at her, we can attribute the lohengrin/tannhauser beam to just being reused footage. I'm pretty sure the Akatsuki tannhauser negation's footage was also that of the Strike's negation of Dominion's lohengrin, but instead of the Strike being destroyed, the Akatsuki survived. Here's proof, at least of the oncoming positron shot:

    Sorry bout that, I haven't seen it in a while, but thinking back to Lohengrin Gate, The Tannhäuser shot was only as big as the mobile armor with positron reflector, I think it was a Gells-Ghe. So the beam does get somewhat smaller.

    I noe its reused footage. What im saying is that they didnt bother to keep tanhauser consistent, and that even in the end, they decided heck, lets just reuse footage, no-one will notice that tanhauser's now the same strength as lohengrins, giving minerva LESS firepower than AA.

    Some ppl say its cuse they deliberately reduced power. That doesnt make sense. There was no reason in each instance for the power output to be reduced. In fact, for example killing the eaf fleet in ep12, it should have been as powerful as possible to destroy the maximum number of ships. Instead it was roughly the same width as the zamazah that blocked it. You could say AA doesnt need such a big beam to be killed, but then again, they didnt have any compuctions about using full power on the girty lue.

    Now why would they use a lower power on something they know will block it, wouldn't you use full power in an attempt to fire through it?

    And I fully agree with you Revan, It just seems that they didn't try to be consistent in the show, and that you can say there are 3 different Tannhäuser beam sizes, the max size as it was attacking the Girty Lue, the middle size of the zamzah, and possibly the small size of the Lohengrin. We did get to see the Tannhäuser fire as it was shooting the debris of Junius Seven, though I don't remember how big the beam was (too much red from heat).

    But who knows, perhaps the wanted to use full power on the girty lue to destroy the ship and everything aboard it, then used different power settings for different situations.

    but thats just my thought on it.

    Perhaps they wanted to use a lower power to prolong the time of the positron beam fired. If you wanted to cut up Junius 7, would you want to drill a hole or make a crater through it with a single powerful shot, or would you want it to be more like a laser beam, cutting it lenghtwise?

    Good point, that would make sense for the eaf fleet and junis seven....

    However, that doesnt hold up when applied to AA. There's no reason to prolong the shot when targeting a single crusier. In fact the larger blast would be more accurate.

    and yea the Tannhäuser's beam size is very incosistant one minute its wide next lil then even liler. oh and revy boi is always trouble but hes fun trouble aint ya boi.

    Well i hope theres an update soon, i love our mod that me n my friends are making for empire at war but the HW2 engine is way better for space simulation then EAW could ever dream of and i love the seed universe.

    Also i dunno if u've coverd this already but i aint reading all these pages to find out, but will you b doing Destiny aswell or jus seed

    Meh. Even in the UC Gundam mod, which is quite playable to teh extent of being finished, bits/funnels haven't really worked as was hoped.

    Beam sabres don't work well anyway, because the closest we can get is a supershort ion beam that 'stabs' enemies.

    infin-j and S-freedom should b ommited due to the fact that they are on the same team and omni powerful, in otherwords the balancing would b wayyyyy off.

    PS: how many teams u doin like obviously ZAFT and EAF but are u doing ORB or "The three ships alliance" as a team? cause if u arnt then i spose u could put the s-freedom and Ininf-j on seperate teams like infin-j on zaft and S-freedom on EAF. (cause kira was initialy a EAF pilot and Athrun was originaly a ZAFT pilot)

    A mobile suit is only as good as its pilot. Strike freedom and I Justice can still be owned. Their not really that much better than destiny and legend, so its still a bit fair. They can just make build times and cost higher for i justice and s freedom, and limit to one or the other at a time only.

    Well, a good MS is bound to give its pilot certain advantages over his opponent. Ofcourse, if the relative skill levels arent the same then even the best MS could not save its pilot if he doesnt know how to use it. But, considering the stuff we see Freedom and Justice in GS, and later S-Freedom and I-Justice do in GSD, they both would seem to be atleast on par if not superior with their opponent über suits.

    About limiting them to one or the other at any one time isnt the right solution IMHO. During the course of both GS and GSD, we continuously see the Freedom and Justice working together. So it would atleast be more in line with the series to have them available for the player at the same time. Altough one of each ofcourse. I think price and build time balancing would be more on par with the GS and GSD canon. Afterall, both were extremely experimental suits at their time.

    Well, in both UC and CE "earth Alliance" is called Rengu, in original version, not to mention that a federation and an alliance, are quite similar IMO.

    So, those bastards will still be Feddies, no matter what they call themselves XD

    worked for me nice looking effects, but isnt Yzaks zaku from destiny spose to be blue, or is that a mass production model cause as far as i know its not mass its a custom loadout.

    Well, its white, so either a commander unit or rey's unit. except that the slash pack never got shown in the show on a white unit, doesnt mean it cant.

    If I remember correctly, there was a regular ZAKU Warrior with a Slash Wizard pack in the episode 45-50 area (don't remember exactly which episode)
