gamespots down? is the demo only going to be availiable from there? do i need to be a member of gamespot to download from there?
From the looks of it not it wont. I men at the begining it will be only hosted by gamespot. After couple of hours it should be available all over the net. I hope filefront will host this as their speeds are very good. Looks like gamershell will be hosting the demo too.:noball:

Hi, i think the mission campaigns in Company of Heroes sounds like a lot of fun but i was wondering if I could get some more details on the skirmish mode in Company of Heroes, especially the gameplay modes that i've heard about in it, because i've played games that had skirmish modes in them and i was wondering how it compares to say Age of Empires 2 where you get to pick alot of the options when you start a new game and theres no objectives so its basically a free style round where you can attack how and where you want. I'd appreciate any replies! P.S. I'm not concerned about the graphics in Company of Heroes because obviously they are going to be a lot better than Age of Empires 2, I'm more concerned about what I mentioned above.
quick note...
A few weeks before the original Homeworld came out Relic released a demo that included skirmish with full tech trees for both sides, sans one or two units... The cruisers and a special unit for both sides, if I remember correctly. They've done this before, and I applaud them for it.
The SP beta demo was laggy on lowest settiings at 1024 X 768 res on my:
Pentium 4 640 3.00GHz HT
1024 Mb Duall channel DDR2 533
Overclocked 256MB nVidia Geforce 6800.....
So this better work!!! :-)
Really? I run at 800x600, P4 3.ghz, 1gb RAM, non overclocked 256mb GF6600LE. And the SP beta demo runs better than the MP demo, With all high/ultra settings. SP demo with high/ultra is really smooth on SP demo and slightly laggy on MP beta. The SP beta demo was laggy on lowest settiings at 1024 X 768 res on my:

The demo out at the moment is exactly the same build as the MP beta was when released, well, just about.
The big patch that brought the MP beta up to COH gold status improved performance a great deal. This new demo will be just that.
So really, this demo is more of a 'demo' than the last one, because this is a representation of the final game and what it will run abd play like, whereas the PCGamer demo was more of a 'looksee' at COH.
well I say it is laggy, it is very speedy when it is only my men, but when the enemy started to arrive, and when the explosions got going it slowed a bit.... I exaggerated a little
It never lagged for me. except on cutscenes
FYI; "lag" does not exist in offline gaming, what you are experiencing is bad frame-rate.
Yea thats great but can anyone answer my question????
Well you do not have as many options as you do with AoE2. Been a long time since I played AoE2 but with CoH you basically have a Victory Points or Annihlate(sp?) option. You can also do fixed or random starting positions and do standard or high resources.Hi, i think the mission campaigns in Company of Heroes sounds like a lot of fun but i was wondering if I could get some more details on the skirmish mode in Company of Heroes, especially the gameplay modes that i've heard about in it, because i've played games that had skirmish modes in them and i was wondering how it compares to say Age of Empires 2 where you get to pick alot of the options when you start a new game and theres no objectives so its basically a free style round where you can attack how and where you want. Still it has a lot of different ways to actually win. You still have a lot of fighting but you can choose one of three different command trees that give you different ways to fight the enemy.
Victory Points is done by holding three strategic points around the middle of the map and annihlate is simply wiping out the other side.
thanks Sir Robin!!!![]()
