Looking good Zany, and as Khannis said, some more stuff would be nice (like on the Gordystomp, or maybe details from the model on medusav.au.gamesworkshop or from Jeff Hiatt I show you ^^).

Still, very good job on the body, keep up the good work

I'd let you use the Bloodletters, if you could find me someone to make the skin look more realistic.
I'm not good with such organic things.

I've added 3 pipes, & I've made some panels with glyphs on somewhere.

Anything else besides though? I don't wanna add any huge panels as they'd be really difficult to fit with the model.

I think I'll go & add a telescope slot somewhere though...

I retract my offer, that IS illegal.

I thought you were talking about another mod team, then I forgot that there's also the warhammer game too.

Filefront is still being annoying. They did exactly the same thing for version 1.0 & then released it like 5 days after submission.
I can only wonder whether the link is broken, or if it's simply just an upload issue with its massive size (120 MB approx).

    All Hail The Masterful Modders

    Hello there, love your work.

Would you like me to kill somebody at filefront for you? I could make it look like an accident.

On the subject of the Gargant, remember it is of Ork make, therefore it should have lots of guns and look like it was made of junk thrown together, as much as possible.

I totally support your mod, dispite the fact I currently have no useful skills, working on that in college. So right now I am here for "emotional support," Your mod is the sole reason I have made this account, that and the fact that I can make a chorus line of dancing, pink, elepants without getting drunk.

Where else can you do something like that?

It's nice to see you support this Again, Filefront still hasn't done anything (though they haven't actually uploaded any new files in the past 2 days either).

Remember that's just the Stompa's body. I plan on it to have at least 2 guns:
A Zzap gun/kannon on the head, & one out of 2 main weapon options.

I could also shove 2 big shootas in those large holes too, I suppose.

Ok, I still think that the body needs just a couple more cool gubbinz to add, but what? There're currently 2 panels that have no other detail on them, so I need more objects!

    What is missing?

Yes, it needs something that lets out smoke, like the back of the Space Marines Dreadnaught.

Would it be possible to have very weak guns on it for looks? Like some grot blastas? They don't have to be powerful just to make it look interesting.

An area that looks like a battlecannon hit it would be good too.

Maybe something that looks like after-the-fact metal put on haphazardly. It looks kind of smooth and could use something pointy sticking out of it.

Though all my ideas would cost in Polys.

Yes... An exhaust system! I'll put a 'little' one in, thanks for that!

I don't wanna put loads of useless guns on the thing though. That doesn't really do tabletop justice.
Remember that the Stompa is NOT a transport, & is generally incapable of much of any.

Therefore - there won't be many guns on it. DO remember that this walker will be able to get into close combat, & will be almost as dangerous as the squiggoth is in combat too.

That'll be its right arm. Its left arm will have to have some form of nasty explosive contraption. The other ranged option perhaps being an automatic grenade launcher...

Oops, my brain miswired itself and put a picture of a gargant in the place of the Stompa, Bad Brain!

One of my ideas is going in my favorite mod!!! Hoorah for inefficient orky engines!

Perhaps it could use a poorly written "WAAAGH!" on part of it? Or "'Ere We Go!"? Something poorly made, like some Ork threw buckets of paint on it possibly... Or a flag of some sort, Orks like flags and banners.

Also possibilities would be a hatch to get in with, spikes, or some Ork symbols.

Mind I am just rambling now, giving a near endless list of possibilities. But I do hope you put something "spoiky" on it.

Well, I'm not gonna bother with putting a WAAGH banner in, as I'm gonna have the General Ork banner (found on strategic posts) mounted on the head anyways.

Spikes maybe. Already got enough Orky symbols IMO.
I think that I'll just put a random piece of wire mesh somewhere, & then continue with the leg's texture of the machine.

Bear in mind that the legs WILL NOT be that good-looking, as they're generally gonna be concealed from the player. Well, the tops of them anyways... The Feet will be easily visible, & they've been textured. It's the shields on the legs to sort now...

When they actually take notice of me. If they don't upload it tomorrow, then I'll post my 'secret link' here instead. Filefront can be ignored if they continously fail to upload my mod in favour of others.

I have no idea why this happens. I e-mailed them 3 times now, so I want their attention, even if it isn't good attention.
I want to be acknowledged. That's how my life works.

Ok, starting on the wire mesh with rope gubbin (small), & then finishing off the legs.

Warbossgunzmek - please don't post massive smiley posts like that. I'm starting to feel epileptic here. Oooh, the dizzyness!
    What is your meaning?

Right - Finished the legs off (not that great though, perhaps apart from the blocky steel feet), & added a plate of wire mesh somewhere.
I'll add another one when I have time, but now I must sleep like a Necron warrior, for 8 hours!

Well, my patience ebbed away and I sent a message to dowfiles to show that more people than Big Boss Zany were concerned about the mod's files.

It was tasteful and very businesslike, so no worries about me having offending them. Of course, if they don't post it soon I may lose my last strand of patience and send a more, Ork-like, reply. But I will try to hold myself in check, for the Bosses' sake.

Well, goodnight everyone, and hope your rest does you well Boss.

AirborneOrk - please don't try to start a vicious quarrel. I know it might not seem it but anyways.

"I love this realistic mod so much that I could kiss Zany's boots."
yeah, you're too late. 1st other 3 people got in.
However, if Filefront continue to be hopeless, then I'll just post the other link instead.

Thanks John1918 fir yiur efforts. I wouldn't try to spam them though if I'll be posting another link this evening anyways (unless Filefront manage).

Ok, the Stompa is currently exceeding the polygon target for the body, so I'm not gonna add any more stuff to the body yet.
I'm gonna copy the original leg to the other side to get that sorted, & then I'll start on the Head.
I'm shifting the rest of the body to last priority incase I run out of polygons.

I aim to go no higher than 5500 polygons for this in total (visible components anyways).

deleted them. sorry bout that i should think before i post regardless of what other people say. i know gargants are built in tribute to their gods but i dont think stompas are. theyre what warbosses take if they cant get a gargant. still big and destructive though.

I might consider a Gargant Ork-wise, but only in the far future.
The Stompa... Is it even a legitimate Ork titan? I'm not entirely sure about that.
Well, If I make a Gargant, it'll have limited close-combat capabilities, unlike the Stompa.

Ok, I'm off to do a bit of coursework now.

Since I've posted the download link here: - By the time I get back to re-visit the Forums, I want posts from AirborneOrk & Warbossgunzmek being nice to each other, or at least saying sorry to each other for misdeeds.

    Now - DO IT!

    YAHOOO!

Currently downloading Boss. I need to paint my modem red, then it will go fasta!

I won't spam poor little filefront...but one thing is bugging me.

Moddb sends you to filefront for the download, at least the free one. That means they are already hosting it, just not in the DOW section. Doesn't that qualify for mental retardation?

    Thank-you Boss.

    -John

[Edit: When a Warboss cannot get a Gargant because of lacking resources, or a bunch of uncapable Mek Boyz they generally have a Stompa built for them.

From wikipedia.org: "Stompas are not war engines nor Titans proper but rather large armored fighting vehicles built as roughly Ork-shaped effigies. They are armed with both long- and short-range weaponry and are used in the same manner as heavy tanks. "

Now for a proper Ork Titan a Super Stompa is correct. It is kind of like a Warhound in power...i.e. too strong to let Ork players build. They mount two gargant weapons and are very nasty to deal with.]

  33. #433
ah I thought so thanks for clearing that up for me john. also moddb is free you just need to sign up. its easy and you can get much faster download speeds most of the time.

Filefront probably has an account for ModDB perhaps, though it appears that they haven't noticed it (or cared) in there archives.

There WILL be something in this mod that you'll almost certainly dislike, & I don't mean other races in general etc. I mean balancing issues, or a bug etc.
Remember - seeing as this IS a close-to-tabletop mod, the weapon ranges are long, & damage values are also higher.

Stompas aren't war Machines? I thought they had 2 structure points in some older rules written for them (if any)?
Well, I think that 2 structure points for such a large vehicle is good. 6500 HP suits this vehicle toughness wise, with medium armour.

It'll pack a lot of power as a compromise remember.

Azreil1 - yes, but not for at least 6 weeks.

Ok, this image is obviously still a WIP, though it's a high-res one.

Don't worry about those rat teeth. Those are only 2. The idea is that there're gonna be roughly 12 'teeth' goint around the head.
The Head is red as it's gonna be one of the few team-colourable parts of the Stompa.

  40. #440
    ok some issues:
    - no matter what stance i set a building to any unit that comes out of it will always be on the default hold ground stance. for example if i want my tanks to always be on stand ground to provide artillery support when i build them.

-hp modifier is useless from what ive seen. its the same as if it were off. i think in order for a difference to be made there it would have to be a damage modifier instead.

-for some odd reason sometimes when i play against ork ai they make nothing but grottanks. most of the time they make ork dreadnoughts and battlewagons. not sure what the conditions for this are.

Ok, the Hold ground stance issue I know about. I don't know what actually controlls that thing however.
Secondly - the HP modifier should work. It needs time however (give it 10 seconds due to the checking variable). If that doesn't work, then there is a problem.

As for Ork AI - just grot tanks? I'm sure I've seen them use every vehicle before in that version.

Well anyways - This'll have to be looked into for DC.

    Fatal Scar error

    Hi there Zany!

I installed the mod and tried to play a skimish and when the game loaded it said---->"fatal scar error execution paused"
and then of course locked up.

Can you help? I have installed various mods so I have an idea of what i am doing...

Did I miss something? I extracted all the files to my DOW folder.
The game loadsbut again when I start up a map and wanna play it locks up.

  45. #445
azreil1 The Scorpion is built from the vaul portal you need to have captured a relic before it can be built.

I've had the fatal scar error a couple of times myself but I had lots of research on the go both times.

This Fatal Scar error is definately the most dumbfounding thing I've came across, because I've never experienced this.

You're saying that it occurs whenever a skirmish game is played?

Yeah, the Vaul portal only displays the Scorpion icon when the relic is actually captured. Guess I'll tweak that for convenience too.

For all the scar error players - PLEASE post up the contents of your warnings.log files!

Couldn't play the mod at the moment, but concerning the stance of units that don't "take care" of building stance, it is localized in the RGD, in the data/attrib/spbs folder. If you have an RGD editor (AEP v1.2 from Gniarf, that's what I'm using), open it, go the the data/attrib/spbs folder, then, for any unit (infantry or vehicle), open the tree - you should have several "files" concerning the unit - it should be the first one, in the lines, look for something called "ignore building stance" and set it to false instead of true, and here it is

Here is what I mean :

Once more, very nice progress on the Stompa

i have no idea what causes the scar errors. sometimes as soon as the game starts i have it and sometimes i dont. once i got one in the middle of a game.

anyways zany what do you mean give the hp modifier 10 seconds to work? i wasnt saying it literally doesnt work i meant that it had very little effect on prolonging the lives of the units. although while i was playing the titan map i had it on yet the hp was the mod default, is that what you meant? if so where do i wait 10 seconds; loading screen; map selection screen; in game?

also played the titan map and didnt see any way to get a titan but that couldve been because of the scar error i had when the game started.

to peacemaker;when it locks up just open the menu and hit resume. you will be able to play but things like ai and win conditions wont work properly.

    Titan?

    Hi Zany,

This mod is very cool! needs some tweaking here and there but very cool and very fun!B)

How does one get to use the titan I keep hearing about?

I played the map that says something about capturing the center and see what happens, I got the center and kept it for at least 35 minutes but nothing happened... I REALLY wanna unleash that kind of firepower!!!!

Is there something else I need to do to get the warhound????
Again, excellent job with all the units and such, can't wait for your DC version!!!

  50. #450
Just played this. Sorry if this suggestion has been posted before, but these are my thoughts:

What would you think of dramatically reducing build times along with a decent reduction of costs, and a large increase in non-turret building hit points. The quick, bloody battles definitely have potential as a fun, different style of gameplay, but when combined with normal DOW build times, I find that I spend more time watching progress bars than playing.
I think if these adjustments were made, not only would we have these vicious battles, we would have lots of them in a short amount of time. What do you think?
