I think I've told you this before, but yes - they're both still in the mod (& the warhound still has animation screw-ups ).

I'll upload the mod tomorrow incase I run out of time tonight.

Wow, it appears Colonel Temp has got the 1500th post in this thread!

I've put a squad tax on Tankbusta squads too as they are extremely nasty AV squads, as you know (especially when kitted with the Tankbusta bombs).

That's a point - I think I'll up the cost of the stealth team shas'vre leader a bit too.

Havoc would probably decline the use of his stuff in the TTRU mod, or at least it wouldn't surprise me if he did.
As a matter of fact, he just sent me this...

If Zany wants to use whatever I created, he can. But only if i'm properly credited.
Anyways, down to business The charge bonus sounds good. I'm assuming it also applies to vehicles (both charging and being charged)?

For 'uber' SM units, how about Adeptus Custodes allies (for those who don't know who they are, you can find out about them here ? As for the Tau, the Greater Knarloc may have to do, unless you use a gunship. Also, congrats to Colonel Temp and Millrock

Nuh-uh, no custodes. Whilst they're definately far more powerful than average Space marines & even Grey Knights, they exist solely to guard the Emperor's palace. They don't fight outside Terra as Colonel Temp said.

Tau ARE going to get a new super-unit assuming Iamaplayer manages to finish it. It's the swordfish tank, which is a variation of the Devilfish chassis with the armour of the hammerhead & much more firepower than the hammerhead too (linked railguns & 2 missile pods, along with a nose-mounted burst cannon turret).

Also, it's very nice of Havoc to let us use his content, but which one was he allowing us to use (he's already in the credits list for the mod anyways, but for other stuff)?

    -EDIT-

(including an 'alternate' Tau Commander, as well as some new CSM models (Veteran CSM?)
You mean these right? I'd like to see what these are, particularly the CSM model varieties. I'm not interested in any more textures however.

If it was pre-heresy you could use Custodes, as ten thousand of them crusaded with the Emporer (at least early on) but now they'll stay on Terra, although they do serve as envoys. Post Heresy they don't leave Terra and since they haven't fought since then one wonders just how useful they'd be in combat anyway

[Edit]Fluff might allow a Custodes as a commander Unit, as an envoy, like an Inquisitor, either with a suitable retinue or attached to a squad

    TT Custodes army

If anyone is interested, here's a link to TT Custodes army. They look utterly fantastic and I reckon need a game dedicted to them, perhaps an RTS based around the defence of Terra during the Heresy

Although if anyone did a mod I'd download it

As far as I'm aware, he ment that you could use anything he created, so long as you credited him accordingly. You can find the CSM stuff here .

Fluff might allow a Custodes as a commander Unit, as an envoy, like an Inquisitor, either with a suitable retinue or attached to a squad
That's what I was thinking when I suggested them. However, if Custodes won't do, what about the Ordo Xenos?

No one knows how strong they [the Adeptus Custodes] are, but their gene seed is supposed to come directly from the Emperor, so that's got to count for something! However, there's only 300 of them, and very rarely see action, if at all!

"how much will this tau superheavy cost req/power wise?"
It'll be slightly cheaper than the Land raider.

Speaking of super-units, most of them (apart from the Tau ones, & some of the Ork ones) have had their prices bumped upwards, some of the more powerful ones by huge proportions. The shadowsword, for example, now costs 1000 requisition & 2000 power points.
Puts them more in scale with the other tanks, cost-wise (the lesser tanks, that is). I really don't like it how in Dawn of war, super-units are barely any more expensive than a typical T4 tank, despite being about 3 times more dangerous.

James_the_red - No custodes again, for this is a 40K mod, not a horus heresy mod

Thebeastwithin - Ah damn! The CSM adjustments turn them into Havocs. It's just too bad the same can't be done to the C2C havocs

Anyways, I'd better start packing. Tarrah!

    EDIT:
AI 2.4? No... I think that Thudmeizer will be sorting that out however when he gets the beta.

"hey when is the public beta coming out"

There won't be a public beta, there'll be a public release hopefully in about 2 months.

If all goes well, the final beta for the testers to play with will be ready in about half an hour.

Online gaming over TTRU version 1.34

So, are any of the testers gonna be able to play with me online then? I wanna be able to play online games with TTRU like last time, so that I can get a better feel for balancing.

Zany, wasn't suggesting the Custodes, although a command unit would be cool (and allowable IMO). Have been reading about the Visions of Treachery mod, so that may slate my thirst for Custodes (you must admit, that TT AC army does look fantastic). And BeastWithin, there are 10,000 of them, but 300 serve as the Companions, the Emporers personal retinue. Sorry I utterly digress and apologise for going OT

Good luck with completing the mod, and I look forward to playing it

I remember seeing that page on custodes previously (I don't know who originally gave me the link though).
I always imagined them to be silver, not golden.
Wouldn't a single custodes guard be more powerful than a Space marine Captain?

  22. #1522

Their relative might is highly debatable. During the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy they were the finest soldiers man had. The Emporer was to them as the Primarchs were the SMs, so you're looking at 'super' SMs, created from the Emporer's own geneseed, so warrior wise you're looking at only the Primarchs being more powerful individually, so certianly they would be at the very least on a par with a veteran Brother-Captain. An army of heroes, quite a frightening prospect. I believe that page suggests using the GK codex to field them on TT, but I would suggest that is only to make them compatible.

If I was to try to include them in DoW in some capacity a single unit would be given the characteristics of a FC at least. A squad I would make like veteran Termies, or vet GKs

In fact they could be the SM's uber. A squad of five, fantastic

  23. #1523
i might be able to play online not making a promise I'll see if i can get online at all for DC.

EDIT: well i just played a quickie and the pylon was so much fun i laughed as they sent wave after wave of tanks just to watch them blow up in a ball of green and red light it was beautiful and oh yeah the necrons on standard don't stand a chance because the units have a high squad cap and you have 3 yes 3 and you can get a necron warrior squad anyways there my report i'll post more bye.

James_the_red - If I were to put Custodes into the TTRU mod, each one would have the same toughness as a librarian in TTRU, but would each have the the equivelant of Grey Knight force halberds, except that they could also cut through armour too (think of them as being tougher versions of Grey Knight terminators, but faster).
In the actual tabletop game however, I imagine they'd be as tough as Space Marine Masters (they're not force commanders anymore), but with better weapons & looks, plus perhaps the odd ability here & there.
Of course, I'm not sure how it'd go down with the public players as they'd be harder to kill than Obliterators (only slightly, but still)

Halo-elite - That's pretty much what happened when I used the Pylon on that kautouran island map. The Guard sent me a bunch of sentinels & leman russ tanks, which got destroyed mainly by the pylon, but also by about 2 squads of warriors that were defending my Monoliths.
I even managed to destroy 3 shadowsword tanks using the cunning tactic of teleporting a Monolith next to one, & then teleporting 3 necron warrior squads next to it (believe me, this works, as long as you keep within the shadowsword's minimum range).
Eventually they got the better of me though & blew up the Pylon.

Colonel Temp - Theoretically, I should be able to play online on saturday too (best day for me this week) as I have family friends round for the next few days. I could play whilst they're round, but they'd probably get bored... Good to know however.

Cadian Guard - Fraid not, but you can use a nifty program called 7zip which will also open rar files. I might also create a self-extracting archive for the actual release, which I will need a few people to test before I send it out to the public.

right, i shall continue to edit this post untill someone else posts below me.

Playing with sm at the moment. So far all i have found is that bikes cannot upgrad with multi-melta side cars even when the criteria is met. The icon just stays grey and blacked out, it dosn't say "(insert upgrade here) Required" but it won't let me upgrade it.

Another quick question, is there AI yet for using the pylon? or do i have to play as necrons to try it *shudder*?

i have found two things while playing guard

    1. when i built the heavy weapon squad i upgraded to mortar and i told them to bombard ground but they did nothing.

    2. also when i upgraded i to mortar saw the textures where not a heavy weapon trooper textures they looked like the mortar texture.

when i play the necrons i couldnt build the power gen right away i had to build a slag power gen it unlocked. dont know what this could be....

  36. #1536

Outlaw guns and the only ones who will be armed are the outlaws,Criminals will be armed regardless of more silly gun laws.

GrandMoffDima - a russian translation of the mod...
Whilst that'd be pretty good, there are 2 problems:

    1) I don't know if the original Dark Crusade game has support for russian translations of the UCS files.

    2) I'm releasing the actual mod in about 2 months, so you'd best be quick if you are gonna do this for me

Of course, if you wish to start now, then I would gladly hand over the UCS files for the mod (the ZR_fatality one & the heroes one). Bear in mind that the first one is very big (over 60KB of ucs lines), so there's a great lot to translate.

If you're still up for it though, let me know. I'll give you the beta if you get half-way through for your troubles to test it ingame.

BLoodrage_tau - An online game would be great! I'm only free saturday afternoon & sunday evening this week however. Ideally, I'd like to play you saturday afternoon.
Try to be on MSN on saturday all the time so I can contact you whilst our family friends are away (I believe they're going out for a few hours, in which case I won't have to look after the kids, whom also play with Space marines) & get to playing.

Haloelite52 - There are 2 mortar teams in the TTRU mod. There's the original one from Winter assault, which I have now removed from the IG tech tree (it shouldn't be buildable now). That'll give you a pink box as the original model was overwritten.
The new mortars however, which are upgrades via the DC HWT, shouldn't give you pink boxes. Are they the ones you're on about?

Millrock - The mortar model has a new texture as the original texture for the mortar was replaced with an autocannon texture in DC. I made a new texture as a result.
However, the issue is already being discussed about the stubborness of the Mortar in TTRU, where it refuses to fire or attack the ground. I've made a few tweaks to the luas, but won't test them until I've had a few online games using TTRU.

Radulykan - as much as the WA version!? It should be more than the WA version!
Anyways, I don't suppose you're able to play TTRU online with me (& bloodrage_tau)?

Zany, saturday afternoon sounds fine! I'm at squash till 12 ish so i should be able to play any time after 1/1:30. I'll get on msn as soon as i can when i get home and we can try and arrange something.

Edit: Playing with Chaos at the moment. Only thing i found so far is that the Khorne Terminator icon in the Deamon Pit is pink without a picture.

Edit 2: Well it seems the icon is only pink when u are unable to build them. At this moment i only have two elites on the map and the icon is fine. Other than that, it seems fine. Tau seem to absolutly destroy all tho.. Might just be that im not great with chaos. Wat do others think?

a very small thing (and itis very small), the pylon does not appear on the minimap. There is just no dot on the mini map showing the position of the pylon. Other than that, very very nice work zany!!

Edit: Wow.... the pylon has actually made me enjoy playing with necrons :P. Absolutely amazing work zany!! However, i would like to know what the other testers think of balancing issues with necrons in general and the pylon?

Bloodrage_tau - Everyone seemed to like the Pylon, despite its drawbacks. I've fixed the missing disabled Khorne terminator icon for next version (it seems it was compressed).
Tau are still overpowered despite their T1 nerf in which I shifted the barracks to T2. Guess it's just that range > melee

I must have chopped off the minimap function when moving the Pylon lua files around from buildings to troops. I've added that back in for the final release. The warhound titan also does the same, so I've enabled it on the minimap too.

I'm glad you like the Pylon, because it's taken me almost 2 months to finish! Damn that was one annoying project. At least it's working now (save the ability that I don't care about as it's not needed).
I usually like to piss opponents off by teleporting it into their bases & annihilating their HQ!

BTW, when are you gonna be available for an online game today? I'm on MSN (at the time of this post, may not be later). Got a game booked with promythyus, but you & Chap can also play later on! There's always room for more!

yeah sorry bout that zany, my stupid internet gave out..... I think from now on, it would be better to have more than 2 players and do ffa's. That way, if it happens again, it dosn't matter! However, as you said, it was very fun (stupid necrons and their awesome gauss......).

Bloodrage - Yeah, Vehicles are somewhat of a risk against Necrons as almost everything they have can destroy even a Land raider. You saw that single squad of Necron warriors destroy your Dreadnought, so there's a good example.

    Anyhow, more progress.

    TTRU online proof:

Despite some difficulty, we managed to get some online games running, including one with more than 2 players involved!
Read this thread for the replays & info on them

    http://z9.invisionfree.com/Tabletop_...120&st=0&#last

I've also added a secondary beta-tester list for those that'll be testing the self-extracting archive version of the mod, the final release that is before I give it out to the ravenous & harsh realm of the public.
