  10. #360
if you guys want to be able to use the mod with game manager in DC, ask corsix, he has a solution that will help you guys.

Its 2 or 3 files that gets put in DC directory.

Well, just look in the DC lua first, then the TTRU mod lua. Compare the 2 & if there are ANY obvious feature differences, then DON'T overwrite the file. Re-mod it instead.

However, for most of them you'll just be able to overwrite.

The ones that I'm cautious about are those with changed melee features, like melee_leap. Changed abilities also matter. That includes the IG Psyker.

Another is also that Keen_sight thing, which is also important to look out for.

Oh, & I require the special attacks to be conferred over to the new lua files too.

As for Tau & Necrons - be creative. Make adjustments as to what you know is stat-wise in tabletop. For example - Necron warriors would ideally have the same speed as in DC, but have about 100 HP more than Space Marines with a better regen rate too.

The Nightbringer would also have monster_high armour, & with the special attacks made more in-line with that of the Bloodthirster's (but more powerful however).

The Great Knarloc should only have its armour value changed to infantry_med too, as in tabletop. Give it an armour of 110 though as it is a big gribbly thing after all.

    Get the idea?

speed the greater gnarloc up too, its supposed to be unstoppable once it gets moving, move too slow to be fluffy, anyone noticed the problem with its model? how white streaks appear in it when it moves or attacks?

White streaks huh? I haven't even played DC yet, though I DO own a legal copy.

The Knarloc shouldn't be speeded up as of such, but be given the fleet-of-foot ability to represent the hyperactive nymune organ.

Of course, seeing as it has no guns, that'd be an annoyance.

That's why The Gnarloc is my 1st thing that I'm gonna mod the model of for the Tau.

I'm gonna add the guns to it for the Mounted version. The one currently in DC is the goaded close-combat one.
The mounted one is slightly more shooty, but oddly enough, no worse in close combat.

However, fleet of foot will compromise its shooting when active.

that works, hey zany how about mont'ka gives you close combat version and kauyon gives u shooty version

Interesting idea, but the Mounted Knarloc is better than the goaded close combat one in every form, except for being more expensive.

Only costs 60pts in tabletop too. What a bargain for a monster with 5 wounds & a bolt thrower!

So I reckon that the Goaded one should be upgradable with the bolt thrower, & then the kroot gun after that.

Nah. Just give the guns a cost instead.

The Gnarloc should originally start off with no rider & gun, but then they'd be upgrades!

Also, seeing as the Gnarloc isn't that hard to kill, there'll be a limit of 2 on them instead. They're not that good in close combat compared to nasties like the Avatar & bloodthirster.

Zany, i have an idea. You said that the Warhound is easily destroyed by firedragons. Well, you could mount automatic hull defense guns against infantry, or give it an ability, what makes it invincible. (like land raider)
... and the World is no longer what it used to be.

Well, although that's an idea - Fire dragons are supposed to be able to do PRECISELY that in tabletop to any non melta-resistant vehicle.
The Warhound fits into that category.

Anyways - it was swamped by about 20 fire dragons. Over half of them died but enough managed to get into the titan's minimum range & shot it down.
    Upda
If that happens, then you'd just better hope that the titan gets into close-combat with the infantry before they shoot it down.

    2 Fixes:

    1. Space Marines no longer have that damn colour bleed thing on them. You can thank the creator of the Chaos bikes for lying to me about that issue.

    2. Cleared up a few taskbar screw-ups. When trying to minimize the taskbar - the icon no longer shrinks.
This problem wasn't apparent in version 1.1 though as there wasn't a heavy support cap (I think).

    MMX has a revenant? Shame it's high-poly.

The next titan I'd like in the mod is the Ork Stompa\Mekboy stompa. They're a bit smaller than gargants, & weaker, but seeing as they're not as uber as warhounds - they'd be built in the Mek shop.

However, there's another thing on my mind 1st.

Now - this mod doesn't work with DC yet, but I aim for it to.

I'm not sure if I like MMX's stompa much. It's a bit too enclosed & cylindrical.

no i dont think mmx has a revenent yet, just my expression that a revenant would be awesome, best looking titan, whats with everyone doing titans?

Except that the Revenant is just a crap idea as it's just a glorified version of the Scorpion on legs in effect, with a mediocre close-combat attack.
Although I must say that it's got that annoying missile launcher that makes it an annoyance against marines.

However, I would really like an Ork Stompa for the Orks. Their current super units aren't that useful, even when paired together!
The Battle Fortress is so weak that it technically can't be considered as much of a super unit. The Squiggoth is better in all forms, even as a firing magnet!

The Stompa would be better at long-ranged attack than the 2, & its close combat abilities would be less powerful than the Squiggoth, but certainly more powerful than the Battle Fortress.

I should also think of a couple of suitable upgrades for the stompa too.

However, there're no plans to model one yet. I want MMX's one so I can modify it & reduce the poly count. He's got a good model there, but just a bit off what I want.

I'm trying to stay away from looted artillery at the moment. Infact, I'd prefer to not have any more looted vehicles for Orks as they're not strictly 'Ork vehicles.'

As I say - the Gargant is in my mind.

For Ork artillery, I could include Super gunz batteries from Epic, but I know almost nothing about those.

My mind is more on the stompa however, as a super unit. Note that there's only ONE super-unit with artillery capabilities, & that's the SM land raider Helios.

  30. #380
ive never played tabletop ive only seen pictures of the units and collected what ive heard from others. super gun batteries from what i saw would be really interesting but they look more like a building than a mobile unit.

Yeah, they look like they have no movement. Sounds like another idea for acheap artillery building.

ALSO - on our forums, look what I decided to do with a spam bot that entered the place:

As I said - I know almost nothing about them.

Furthurmore - they'd be way too big for a casual turret. More like one of these super-building things.

However, I think that a Stompa should come 1st.

But I haven't even played DC yet! DC is more important.

This mod has a potencial, cuz the sounds and models are pro, but the zero balance is awfull, I mean a Listening Post can kill a squad of Ogryns in under 5 seconds? That's not right..

  37. #387
    Minaithnir2005
    Guest
Chinnoki, if a squad of anything run at a listening post, which is really a strongpoint emplacement with a purpose other than killing things, will get mowed down in warhammer 40k fluff and also in the TT game, so yeah its right, as for the balance, we are working on it but remember, the TT game isnt very balanced, its up 2 the player to play to their strengths and be comfortable in their weaknesses

    Chinnoki - You've been playing version 1.0 haven't you?

That's rather unbalanced. Although 1.1 is better, infantry still died a bit too quickly, especially weaker ones.

Therefore I've reversed the damage values of common fast weapons back to those of 1.0, but I've seriously slowed down their rates of fire so that infantry have a better chance, yet vehicles & singular targets are more vulnerable.

Expect Monstrous creatures to be MUCH tougher against weaker things in version 1.2 as well.
Though I think I've made them too tough. An Avatar can march into a base with about 4 heavy bolters firing at him & suffer little more than about 100 HP of damage a second.

Again, I've left Miniaithnir2005 to the release of 1.2.
He should have downloaded the rar archive I sent him & compiling it into an exe file.

    Stompa discussion

So anyways... After some previous info on the Stompa in that Warhound thread, This thread is where to talk about it.

I'll upload some pictures when I've made some more progress on the Ork Mini-titan.

Hello there, nice idea about the Stompa for Orks, and nice start on the texture too. For more source of inspiration on how Ork units should look like, here's the mighty URL on Forge World : http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog...E_ORKS_21.html

Concerning the download link, it would be nice if someone post it, as I already tested the previous version of your mod (I found it very good, yet units die too quickly in my opinion, even for a TT mod style).

Regards, and good luck with DC

    WHOA!

What a great source of information! Thanks guys.

The stompa I'm working is sort of a mix between the Gordystomp one & maybe now a few other sources you lot have mentioned.

As for that Mekboy gargant Coated_trout, I'll keep that as an idea for a counter-unit for the Warhound.

Gimme an hour. I'll then post a screenshot of the WIP Stompa body. It's only about 25% done at the moment (the whole model + texture that is).

    Stompa Update:

Ok, any improvements needed so far to the body?
