[DC] Dark Crusade Wallpapers Megathread [107 sigs / 123 avatrs / updates soon I hope]

For the community!
This wallpapers are for all who love DoW series - all in 1280x960 (but some of them are avaiable in 1600x1200 too ).

So enjoy. I hope you will be satisfied. Crush the weak and grab some on your HDD asap .

All effects / fixes / filters were made by using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 (not in Photoshop).

I decided to follow by Buggo's suggestion and bring all removed wallpapers back + put special statement at bottom of this post (with copyrights).

Following by Hive Node's suggestions all wallpapers, sigs and avatars are now avaiable as spoilers to decrease load time.

.. and finally after receiving e-mail from Games Workshop I have to remove all wallpapers because using images from GW is illegal .. even for hobbyst and artists.

Signatures information
If you want to add one of thiese signatures, then remeber: total weight of your signature must be lower than 30000 bytes (30 KB ). You can check size of each signature by right-clicking and choosing "properities".
By clicking on each spoiler you will be able to choose one from different series.

Fast forward - adding signatures
Due to some PM's about how to add sugnature here you can find fast manual how to do that:
- open second window and go to your control panel (user cp)
- choose "edit signature" from left panel
- back to first window, go to this thread, pase that code + remove the spaces:

- pick one signature and right-click on it. Choose "properities" and copy adress from URL section.
- return to signature editor and paste signature adress into 'selected signature' in your code.

EvilKillaruna you got some talent there man. Maybe try with the DoW screens. I asume you know havoc art website? If not http://artofwar.6te.net/ if you would made some wallpapers from the screens try to e-mail them to havoc, or to me (I'm the admin of the HTML version)

@Master222: mhmmmm... yes, I know havoc's website and have some art-aiming wallpapers based on screens from WA / DC (WA: Eldar mainly). But I don't know mine are good enough to publish together with yours. I can post few examples here, if you want of course .

Two already posted on first page in "Additional Tau wallpapers" section. They are modified two from official DC screens.

The greatest problem is to find drawing good enought to put into wallpaper.

Then you have to resize it and eliminate all damages, low res signs (due to resize), tune contrast and sharpen, maybe smart blur if needed. Then you have to play a looooong game with background to create it. Cloud effects are very difficult - as same as flashes. And in BW graphics you have to imagine all possible colors in grayscale. Whole grayscale and all effects are made by using custom art brushes - similar to dry paint brush. This is a patient work. With some experience you should do it fast in ~40min, maybe 1h. :thumb:

Experience with many various analog art tools can be very helpful here (ie. to set proper pressure in brush settings)

I'm not an expert and this description is a only a general view. In reality you have to use much more effects, geometric objects, transparency, corrections... all depends on used pic and your personall vision. Lot of work and those wallpapers still can be clasified as 'simple'.

I don't know how about Photoshop...

I think it should be "content" istead of "contest" it's confusing everyone. Now for the edited screens I would suggest, you don't use the grain so much it's a little anoying, also using colors is good, but black&white pics are also cool. Anyway if you find some time please send me more of your pics to tomek_fantasy@op.pl

Oh oh, I only just noticed, must be a repressed love for unstoppable dark pyramids of unholy destruction.

Also there exists a proper coloured version of my monolith attempt, as the b/w version was turned into a wallpaper on the GW site. And the original colouring is great, although way too green for my liking.

Unfortunately. Samples used for this wallpapers was very (even idioticly) small (GW fault). So higher res means only worse quality here.

Even if this thread will be locked somewhen, I can make another with new content at any time.

And you can be sure than you'll see more wallpapers soon .
