    this might come as a pain or maybe you already mentioned this or were planning to do it then my apologies in advance but were you going to realease a tutorial of sorts wit ha short description of what everything does anywhere (im not a complete stranger i just dont like making mistakes :P)

    ok thanks

    but does the camera.lua need to be converted back or should it be, or do I just leave it in the mod's data folder?

    When I try to convert it back an error message comes up.

    Little help needed:

    None of the changes I make ever stick, even the mod directory. The view help (along with most of the tabs at the top (like file, mod ect.) don't do anything (some do, like the web links in help). I unzipped to the main CoH directory (which is custom at c:\GAMES\Company of Heros, if that makes any diffrence). And converting LUA to RGD (new ones, not the ones from the old version) gives me some sort of error

    Is it a problem on my end? Well, it has to be, it works with everyone else, it seems.

    Indeed, I have not written any yet.

    nope, I have most games installed to custom locations

    And converting LUA to RGD (new ones, not the ones from the old version) gives me some sort of error

    I said to convert the whole attrib folder to lua first, which you have not done. As such, other lua files which that lua file needs are not present.

    When i try to dump, or extract the attrib folder to lua, i get this error.

    I hit ok and it does this for everything i try to extract.

    What did I say?
    So, first thing first, when you launch the app, you want to click the "New Mod" button. Pick "Company of Heroes" from the games list, enter a name like "Corsix's Mod" (replace my name with yours or you die) and press Create. From now on, when you launch the application, load this mod.

    I have a tip for us CoH modding n00bs (especially me) in regards to this, rather friendly editor (no sarcasm):

    Read the instruction. Problem? Read them again and adjust. Still problems? Re-read instructions. Problems still?!? Re-re-read the instructions. Still problems? THEN ask for help

    aegix: Add this to the end of your shortcut:

    -modname my_mod -dev

    Replace my_mod with the mod name. Works for me, dunno if there are any side effects.

    First of all, A BIG THANKS to CORSIX... great work that even a noobie like me can use... :3d:

    Now the problems... I succeded in changin' units numbers like in my objectives, but i also seen that manpower cost was raised in proportion to the new soldiers number. I want to mantain the original units costs.

    Another thing: I tried to modify also Sturmtruppen numbers, but this seems to eliminate them from game!!
    When ordered to jump into battl through the doctrine button nobody compares, even if the game counts them as normal...

    Some help in modifying this?

    The cost of a squad is the sum of the cost of all its members. So adjust the cost of its members in the EBPs folder to change the cost of the squad.

    a) What did you change?
    b) Anything in the warnings.log file? (My documents\My games\CoH\warnings.log)

    checklist for lua -> rgd conversion errors:
    - Are you running your mod and not RelicCOH? (If you cannot extract or save anything in the attrib folder, then you are likely running RelicCOH)
    - Did you convert the entire attrib folder to lua when you began? (Unless every RGD has a matching LUA, you did not do this)
    - Is the lua file you are converting in the attib folder? (Only luas in the attrib folder need to bo converted to RGD)

    Sorry, Corsix - I extracted all files instead of converting them all to LUAs :gonemad:

    I now converted all files to LUAs and then converted my LUAs back to RGDs and it worked. :smash:

    I read thru the thread thoroughly then started modding and found that its not only attrib files we can temper with. I edited a lots of those and I think I am beginning to understand the logics of it.
    I started new threads with regards to the following but no one answered me so I figured I will to catch your attention thru this thread.
    Other the attrib files, my interest is in sound files. The game has awesome sounds but some stuff I would rather edit also (like MP40, 30cal, 8.8cm Flak, etc).
    These are in the Data files.
    I found I can extract the whole of Data with the "Corsix Tool" into my mod folder and change the .smf files to .wav (have convert them with Mannerheim's Tool).
    I edited the sounds and converted them back to .smf with a hex editor (used the actual 12-byte heading of the backup files). Then loaded up my mod and started the game thru Corsix's Tool. All my editing (attrib) works fine but not my sounds. The edited sounds dont play, instead I get the old sounds which is strange because those I deleted beforehand so they dont even exist.
    Curious aint it? Can sounds be edited does anyone know? And where does the game gets the old sounds after I deleted them?

    The other thing I am trying to figure out is how to edit .bsc files? I can look into them with Notepad even but I wonder if I can edit them...These .bsc files contain the command line for the game to play certain sounds and how to play them.

    If anyone else is interested, maybe we could share experiences. Also if you'd like I could keep posting on this and share every new development I can make.

    Why is everyone harrasing Corsix? He has enough on his plate as it is without 1000 threads begging him to help people. You could just wait for the mod tools and everything will be a lot easier.

    I'm not speaking from CoH experience here but the DOW sounds were very difficult to mod. Sounds need to be attached to units in the Object Editor. Music can be modded because the playlists are LUA based but sounds are attached to motion trees.
