Attrib LUAs don't work unfortunately. I tried.

Bugger. Have to wait for corsix's next version.
"So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark — that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."
the game won't load attrib files in lua format. period. Only config luas.

Corsix hasen't said anything about a release date ?

Plan was to release next version today, but I had problems all day yesterday trying to fix a memory leak, so it'll be delayed by a day or two.
Woohoo - time is near and thanks to who ever released the camera and autoexe files. The game is now much better for me being the old fogy that I am.
Thx Corsix, can u tell us how it will work? I mean in particular the interface because i'm new to modding...Will it be necessary only to modify numbers or something else ?
The only thing I care about is the ability to convert LUAs to RGDs. I don't care if it causes my computer to go into cardic arrest. Gimme gimme!
Has anyone taken the time to edit all the key bindings to a 'wasd' style interface? I would like that, but I know nothing about this and really would like not to kill the game.
I just right clicked in the whitespace of the opened rgd and it promptly crashed the editor.
Also, anyone have any idea when the Game mod tools are going to be released (Map Editor, etc..)?
Hi, i try to change some attributes with corsix dow studio. After changing are files placed to WW2\Data\attrib\.....
But my problem is,how activate my mod??
Must i create some folders in CoH folder or how run it??
Thx for help.

To restate yet AGAIN... you cannot change attribs and have it work in game yet.
Try reading the thread before posting next time CZoggy.
He said something about today or yesterday btw...

Indeed. If all goes to plan, then released tonight.
That's good to hear! I've been anxious for any further news regarding the ETA.
I hope everything goes well.
I'm getting all twichy just waiting for the new tools. We should be able to mod when these come out right?Originally Posted by Corsix

Teaser:
I've got most things working, but there are some loose ends I need to tie up (eg. attrib building EBPs cannot be saved) and there is documentation to write (nothing fancy, just a quick howto guide).
It's gone midnight, and I need sleep, as my coding skills are rapidly decreasing. I'll finish up and release tomorrow :gnight:
:dot:
Why do I get the feeling tomorrow your gonna say that your gonna release it the next day?
EDIT: Just so you know, I'm not been unappreciative, it's just that I've been waiting for a long time and everytime I get ready to mod, the damned tools get pushed back.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, Corsix.
Hope it comes out soon, this game's just aching to be transmogrified. I wonder if it would be at all possible to have a squad of five engies, as seen above, to take up less than five slots in the poplimit. I was hoping, doubtlessly like many others, to increase the squad sizes but not affect the amount of population space the unit would take. I guess an easy way to do that would be to increase the starting poplimit to account for the higher pop usages (if possible) or to remove the population cost for infantry and limit them to a certain amount of squads... or just do that to the builder units as in DOW. Can't wait for the initial onslaught of realism mods, ten thousand flavors of the same stats... can't friggin wait...
Get some rest... SCHNELL!
Darn it for the teaser!
I hope it is going to be released tomorrow.
I mean NO MORE DELAYS!
Also on that picture, will modding make my graphic looks bad or are your graphics down to low settings?
Corsix, you are the tech-god, and thank you so much for taking the time to do this without compensation.
I look forward to the release!!!

Hey Corsix, thanks for your work. Will have a look at the AI, perhaps there is something to improve.
Thanks for your hard work, Crosix.
I look forward to the release.

Ok, coding and bughunting are done. Just need to pack it all up and write some docs.
Nice Corsix, looking forward to the release!

[This post is very quick documentation as I dont have time to write full and nice docs tonight]
read the ENTIRE POST then click here for download link. Yes, read the ENTIRE POST FIRST

I recommend (eg. do it or I kill you) deleting the contents of your "Company of Heroes\WW2\Data" folder (do not back up or copy the contents either - things have changed too much).
So, first thing first, when you launch the app, you want to click the "New Mod" button. Pick "Company of Heroes" from the games list, enter a name like "Corsix's Mod" (replace my name with yours or you die) and press Create. From now on, when you launch the application, load this mod.
You will notice on the files list a change; there are three things with a hard-disk icon called "attrib", "data" and "movies". This reflects how CoH actually stores the files, rather than the very messy plonking it all together that 0.4.0 did. The data folder, when extracted or saved will go to "Company of Heroes\(your mod name)\Data", attrib will go to "Company of Heroes\(your mod name)\DataAttrib" and movies will go to"Company of Heroes\(your mod name)\Movies".
RGD editing can either be done by:
- Loading the RGD up, changing stuff and hitting Save, or..
- Dumping all RGDs to LUA (right click on the attrib folder to do this), editing the luas in notepad or something and then converting back to RGD the changed luas.
To make CoH load your changed files: make sure you have your mod loaded, go to the "Play" menu at the top, tick dev mode, then choose "Play in CoH"
PS. There is a donate button when you start up the program![]()

cool, thanks man.
here's some bad news: illegal operation when making a new mod. every time. however, it still created the module, so i opened the program again and rather than clicking new mod, i clicked load mod. the question is whether the illegal operation screwed something up in the module file or not, i guess.
welp, im about to find out.

glad to hear that, man, however...the play in coh button does not work. ;(

looks like I need to release a hotfix here
Same for me ; /Originally Posted by solecist
Now for the real question, can I play my mod with the beta version of the game?
im glad corsix is around otherwise this would drive me crazy
If the button to play doesnt work, I'm pretty sure you can still dump all the LUAs, edit em, convert em back to RGDs and put them into the WW2/Data/Attrib folder. Then just load the game normally. Atleast, it should work, if the converter is working and I'm not missing anything.
i tried that earlier to no avail. maybe i'm doing something wrong, though. i just copied the dataattrib folder over to my ww2/data folder and then ran the game from a -dev shortcut.
Nice Cor, great job. Thanks alot for working on this, and at least we have something workable now!

Corsix, I deeply appreciate your effort and time put into this project.
Finally, we all have a chance at modding without the official tools from Relic.
Hopefully, this will help me learn and even make few modifications before the official tools are released.
Again, I would like to thank you for your work.

Ory'hara: No that will not work.
Hotfix released: http://www.corsix.org/misc/Beta_041b.zip
Should no longer crash while making mod and the "Play in CoH" menu item should work.
Heh, right after my post.
I do have a question though,
"Why delete the files in WW2/Data?"
#97
a) You don't want to be confusing your modified files with the game's originals
b) The attrib folder no longer lives in that data folder
c) The luas in the attrib folder created with 0.4.0: 1) Are wrong in places 2) Will not convert back to RGD properly
Cool.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks alot for your work! Works like a charm now!
yees, that did it! thanks, man. i removed those stupid unrealistic tracers from most of the guns, FINALLY. now to get into some real changes.
