this is idle curiosity, but im wondering what codex has been most recently revised. I think it's Space marine, but im not sure.
and that being said, does anybody know what's gonna be revised next? or the likely canidates?

I can't remember which was most recently updated, SM or 'nids. I will check GW after this post though...
As for what's next, it is Eldar, reportedly followed by the various SM chapters.
cool, cool! thanks for hte info.
does anybody know if the space marine revisions affect the Daemonhunter codex at all? i know it hasnt' been updated yet, but for all i know, it was made post update.

The current SM and Daemonhunter Codeci are completely compatible.
it's been a while!
i had no doubt they were compatible (i don't have either codex though.) but i was thinking about going DH, and i heard some SM rules and such that might've applied to anything 'space marine', but then again, the Grey Knights are kinda their own chapter, which is why they have a separate codex... anyway.
@kblaes
D'oh! I forgot about the Tau! :square:
Tau's most recent (as already stated). Black Templars were the ones prior. Before that Nids. Space Marines. 4th Edition. Witchhunters. And I believe Guard, Daemonhunters, Chaos.
Oldest current codex is Orks... It's about 8 years going.

Orks came out in 99, Dark Eldar came out in 98 (got a very tiny revision in 2001, adding in a handful of almost useless Vehicle upgrades...)
So DE is the oldest, I believe.
As for a complete list of whens...
DE : 1998
Orks : 1999
Chaos : 2002
Necrons : 2002
Daemon Hunters : 2003
Imperial Guard : 2003
Witch-Hunters:2003
Space Marines : 2004
Tyranids : 2005
Tau : 2006 (or was it late 2005?)
Eldar : Next to be released
I had heard they also got some kind of new army type as well. Like an alternate way to build them.(got a very tiny revision in 2001, adding in a handful of almost useless Vehicle upgrades...)

Tau was february 2006, if memory serves. Wasn't the first tau codex released in 2002 (or thereabouts) as well?
BTW, I'm absolutely itching to see what eldar will be like.
You and me both, Urov. Some rumours from Warseer say that Orks will finally get a new Codex this time next year, with various SM chapters getting updated before. Sadly, DE still don't seem to have a new codex coming anytime soon.

Question asked, question answered... and then some.
Before this potentially degrades into a "what's the next Codex out, and how come it isn't my race" thread as it already seems to be leaning (Dark Eldar, anyone?), do a Search on that sort of thing as it's already been covered many times, and 'cause this thread's locked!
