Question about a unit modifying terrain

Destructable/modifyable terrain are a part of the game, but for those who've plain, answer this for me please:

Can a tank be used to block a bridge or street? Let's say you wanted to attack across bridge A, while blocking bridge B, could you park one of your tanks on bridge B, and destroy/disable it yourself, or leave it til the enemy did the dirty work for you?

In doing so, you would force him to send a crew to clear the block, his infantry could get through, but his tanks would be too big to pass the wreckage, which you could 'watch' with say an MG crew, and a sniper, in a nearby building. While he has to work his way past that, you get to focus on bridge A.

Does the game allow for such a tactic or would a destroyed tank just disappear and allow him to pass. And is there a way for you to easily destroy a tank of your own for this purpose?

Tanks can roll over destroyed vehicles, so no, it wouldn't work.

Thanx for the speedy reply cj. How possible is that in real life? And in-game, does it slow the tanks passing enough to give AT-guns a better chance to hit them? This way the tactic could still be somewhat viable.

Why waste hundreds of manpower and a good amount of precious fuel to do it when you could just put up a few tank traps? That's what they're made for, after all.

Running over wreckage doesn't seem to slow tanks down much in the game.

It sort of kind of does. I haven't figured out why or how, but sometimes a tank running over wrecks will slow it up a little. Your best bet is the free tank traps - as cj said, scuttling a tank is a bit expensive

Well if you get free tank traps, I guess there's little reason to waste a tank for that. I was thinking in terms of real world tactics though. Where you could guarantee a blockage of a choke point against tanks as I proposed.

Well as long as the spirit of that tactical idea is inplace, but you'd need a few traps to make sure you didn't have to worry bout tanks at that location. Well, they are free.
I really need to playtest this damn game to make some judgements about implementations of tactical ideas.

Is the beta still available, vs AI ofcourse, and where is it?

you cant play vs the ai 1vs1 in the beta. There has to be a 2nd human player for a game to start.

You can download the single player demo where you can skirmish with the computer and test your heart out

You can get the demo from 3dgamers.com:
    http://www.3dgamers.com/games/companyheroes/downloads/

or any one of the thousands of demo sites out there.
