Messed up Off map abilities?

    Messed up Off map abilities?

Well, I like epicness, and I like tinkering. So I got bored and decided to buff all the units in this game. Volks getting 20 men, rifles getting 20 men, and it works! I also tinkered with the cost so the AI's would buy them, but then I must have messed something up. Because stormtroopers, airborne, and rangers no longer work. I increased their squad numbers and lowered their cost, and now the abilities don't work! If someone could tell me why, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Edit: Airborne actually works, but Rangers and Storms still don't. I guess it to do with off map reinforcements.

ya i got same prob with stormtroopers. it seems like there may be some missing data. u should just change it back to 4 and save.

Yeah, but the AI seems to love to spam those special units the most, and I'd rather have the numbers doubled then stay the same, so if anyone has any idea how to fix this, that'd be great =D.

First, make another mod, and change JUST a single variable, how many units there are in X unit, go in game, make sure it works. If it doesn't, you know your problem, if it does, just keep going, one by one, and eventually u will come acrost it.

Well kaine, I took another crack at it and found the problem! It turns out, the off map infantry abilities only work for what you can afford. When I changed the infantry back from 14 to 4, I ended up getting two squads intead of 0, and I figured out that however much is spent on the ability is how many men you get. So say each squad adds up to 200 MP, you'll get two squads for a 400 MP ability. So I made each Stormtrooper cost 40 MP, and the leader cost 40 MP. So now 10 Stormtroopers come off map, and it works with the rangers too! Man those big fire fights sure are great now. Thanks for any of the help guys, and hope this can shed some light on others who are wondering this.

Hah, I didn't think so. Heres a more indepth mathematical description.

Say that the ability costs 400 MP, if the squad has 12 members and they all cost 40 MP, the totally will be 480 MP. More then the cost of the ability, and thus, the ability ushers in no squads.

Now the ability is still 400 MP, you have four members in the squad that all cost 40 MP, that means one squad will cost 160 MP. Well, with 400 MP you can have 320 MP used for two squads. So the ability ushers in two squads instead of one.

Now you have the ability at 400 MP again, you have ten members of the squad, each costing 40 MP. That means the sum will add up to exactly 400 MP. And since you spent exactly 400 MP, the ability ushers in exactly one squad.

I hope thats clearer, thats what happens as far as I can tell. You don't have to change the ability at all, it's the cost of a squad (IE, the cost of one man and the number of men in the squad) that matters. Don't forget to change the cost of the leaders!
