BO: Build Order
BO: Build Order
In the thread about how to deal with Krootox, I saw a reference to the Imperial Guard having "4 MC and 4 IC." What are these?

NL can mean Nade Launchers in addition to Nob Leader or Necron Lord.
Although honestly I hate it when people use it that way as it's confusing as.
Let's Play Europa Universalis 3: Divine Wind
Let's Play Master of Magic: Abandoned
In the beginning there was nothing. Then Steam crashed.
IC: Infantry Command.
MC: Mechanized Command.
You just thought this concerns to some special unit, didn't you? Think further
Actually he's a bit wrong - you can have 3 MCs with another Mars Pattern Command (MPC) or other combos. :P
I think a section of buildings for the IG, Orks, Eldar and the other races should be added. I can do that if someone needs it desperately.
Btw, someone knows what NG means? I'm not sure it concerns only DoW, but a general term.
"With all due respect sir... are you high??"
FW - Fire Warriors. (this I'm sure of already)
TC may mean Tau Commander.
Skyray Gunships can just be referred to as Skyrays.
HH/Hammerheads - Hammerhead Gunship.
DH may mean Drone Harbinger.
Tox is short for Krootox? (anyone? need info on this)
GK may mean Greater Knarloc or Grey Knight(s)
Maybe you can refer to some of the Tau infantry by their suit name?
XV15 - Stealthsuit teams.
XV88 - Broadside Crisis Suit teams.
XV8 - Crisis Suits.
XV22 - Tau Commander.
If anyone finds my list strange, then I apologize, I have left this forum for some time.
you forgot to add "tech" "teching" tech up" which is obviously to upgrade your base and/or units.
people like me use that term in every game when I have a slow player on my team.

Still lackingIC: Infantry Command.
MC: Mechanized Command.
Ra Owa : AAHHHH!!!! ITS A ROCK!
Troubleshooter : Wha... oh... Pfffttt... Prove it. :}
Ra Owa : ... [sputtering] ... o.O ... Its SCIENCE!

Updated! Sorry that took so long guys.
- Tau section has been added
- BO has been added to the general section
- Teching has been added to the general section
- Necrons and Tau have been added to the explanation of the tiers in the general section
- IC has been added to the IG section
Again, this isn't a list of every possible abbreviation in the game. This is a list of the commonly used slang and terms in the game. I'm not going to add an abbreviation just because something in the game can be abbreviated that way. If hardly anyone uses the term it's not going into the list.

thanx. really needed this as i am a complete noob to DOW.
So far I'm still wondering what does IIRC means... can anyone tell me?
That's not Dawn of War slang. It means 'If I remember correctly'
You may or may not want to add this, But I have seen the Bloodthirster Referenced to as BT many times.
This Thread Rocks! I finally know how to read what people are saying :P
just a question what the hell means IIRC ?

Finally a code-breaker for someone who has never entered the SMS world cup!! Thanks very much.
I didn't see a reply when someone asked what PWN stands for. Can anyone enlighten me?
Also, I guess DC is in it's relative infancy still but are there any great threads about how to counter the Necrons and Tau along the lines of PERP's famous Nightly Lessons?
Cheers

Doesn't really stand for anything. It's not an acronym. It more or less means "To kick ass"I didn't see a reply when someone asked what PWN stands for. Can anyone enlighten me?

"Pwn" comes from an original mis-spelling of the word "Own", which, as n0z pointed out, basically means to kick someone's butt in a video game. The term "pwn" is now widespread and deliberately mis-spelt but is still pronounced "own".
Ever heard of Pure Pwnage?

Can anyone tell what means ASAP?
As soon as possible

And here I was thinking 'Pwn' was short for 'Pawn'.....

For Necrons, that's a Summoning Core.
Not what he was referencing there, but for Eldar that would be the Seer Council. I've also seen it reference the Chaos Sacrificial Circle on a couple occasions.
Also, a trick to use for future forums links: if you click on the pound sign ('#') on the top right of each post, the address bar will contain a link directly to that specific post. Clicking on the post number to the right of the pound sign will give you just that post on its own in a new window. Just in case you ever need it again.
thanks for the information Maktaka
Bare in mind SC could stand for Starcraft, though not DOW related, comparisons happen often.
Can you put "auto" and a small explanation in your FAQ?

i could really use a definition for sync kill
Sync kill= Synchronized kill. It is a special animation that come in effect when a unit kill another in close combat, like the IG General loading his stormbolter and shooting to the fallen enemy.
During the Sync Kill the killer is invulnerable, so a long/frequent sync kills make for less actual killing power (you kill models more slowly) but higher endurance (more time invulnerable).
All heil Gygax.
"Cry the Paladin for his mentor, cry the Succubus for her father."
Thanks again for all of the hours of fun you have give me.
Hi, here's my n00by question. I see alot of ppl talking about the "Vanilla version of DoW"... what is it?
#87
The original Dawn of War released in 2004, before Winter Assault or Dark Crusade. The lack of expansions means it's just the regular game, thus "vanilla".
Aha! Thnx... i called it just DoW always. DoW, WA or DC.The original Dawn of War released in 2004, before Winter Assault or Dark Crusade. The lack of expansions means it's just the regular game, thus "vanilla".![]()

WP, apm might be a worthwhile addition.
Why are Chaplains known as Ivans?
It was slang that started on DoWS. Back in WA 1.4, Xerxes developed a build involving ASMs and the Chaplain. He called the Chaplain "Ivan" for no real reason (it had something to do with Ivan Drago from some Rocky movie) and it caught on because people thought it was funny.
Hey thanks for Making this now i can understand things the other players say ^.^
You are missing "Mono" for Monolith. I hear that way more than I do "lith."
I have a tendency to see "space jesus" every now and then. What's that?
I'm guessing the Necron Lord, but I'm not too sure...

It is the Necron Lord, not the Force Commander. Space Jesus is a reference to his "resurrecting" and collection of funky superpowers.
then sorry - my bad![]()
i always thought it was b/c of FC's halo

I took the liberty of adding 'Mono', as obvious as it is.
