Well, now I finally know what each level does now. I knew there was some sort of bonus acquired with Veterancy, just didn't know what exactly.

I assume that applies to only the allied variants of the MG team and Mortar team?

In talking to the designers I think it's important NOT to post the numbers here Corsix. Reason being is that several of them are wrong And that they can be misinterpreted. There are too many factors in the game that make those numbers really confusing. (for example if they are behind cover, if they are moving, if the enemies are behind cover, etc).

We specifically decided against posting numbers for that reason.

What about for Axis infantry? Why only start with Allied bonuses? As of now, minus the occasional games so that I can know my enemy better, I'm strictly an Axis player. I've been waiting forever to find out if it's worth paying so much for these vet upgrades as the info that was posted on PlanetCoH makes it seem that very few are in fact ever worth the trouble.

Axis HQ, or at the V2 test site.
Once again Buggo comes and gives a kick ass post!

Why not just add in all those "riders" as kind of footnotes then? (I'm sure people will "get" it.) No need to get rid of the numbers entirely.

NFIH, whenever numbers are posted and people are told that those numbers are not the be-all-end-all, people almost always simply stick to the numbers and even use them as arguments.

  14. #14
Hmm, maybe. But what, exactly, will prevent people from using those numbers anyway? If it's not Corsix who posts them here you know that once the tools come out someone will break out those numbers and post them here or elsewhere and people will use them as they see fit. That's why I would suggest Relic take command of the situation by posting "official" numbers with all the caveats/riders included and then if someone wants to argue numbers based on something else, then everyone can interpret those numbers in the proper context--namely that those numbers aren't "official."

That said, I'm probably grossly underestimating the maturity level of the bulk of CoH's online community so it wouldn't surprise me if you're right.

I think it would be good for Corsix and others to post that information in another thread. Some of the numbers we've seen out there are flat out incorrect, so it would be better to keep the "official" information and other information separate.

Nevertheless, the information Corsix posted is very interested and deserves its own thread.

I will post some more information here soon -- we'll try to do the Axis next

Can't say that I'm looking forward to being even close to right about Axis unit veterancy. Good to hear the official word though, and thanks again for taking the time out to post all of this.

IMO, Axis should have been done first as Axis are the ones that actually have to decide whether or not the upgrades are worth investing into. Allies just get them as they kill, for free.

Ok, how about giving some of us a bit of credit? If it's such an issue why not include some information on their nature, so we can interpret them better? When I read your response I saw "hi, you're too stupid and we're too lazy."

    ...

... It is relieving to see some contact with relic though.

Yes it is, instead of the agonizing silence they have traditionally put us through.
