1. The debate thread will run until (to be announced), at which point it will be locked.
2. If you wish to participate in the debate, sign up in this thread.
3. If you wish to suggest a topic for the debate, post in
this thread.
4. You can only participate in this debate if you have signed up beforehand.
5. Be advised that people will be assigned to a team randomly. The team's stance on the issue at hand may not coincide with "your" position. If the topic is conservatives vs liberals, you may end up in the conservative camp even if you consider yourself a liberal and vice versa.
6. Team members are encouraged to coordinate with other members of their team using PMs, IRC or other means of communication.
7. Posters will be held to a high standard. This includes proper punctuation and spelling, properly thought-out posts, and materials to back up your claims. This also means no trolling, no personal attacks and no sarcastic one-liners. Anyone who violates these rules may be removed from the debate at any point. In short, if you fuck up you hurt your team.
8. This is a test run, if people are interested in furthering their debate skills by means of this exercise we will do it more often. (We may also do an actual debate contest, at some point, depending on how this goes).
9. Courtesy must be shown to all other members at all times.
