Well, two glitches, one with the launcher and one with one of the localised versions (maybe a language thing). If it's a localisation string not working right, then that *could* be an easy fix that would only require a recompile of the data file, and a repack of the installer.
Now the launcher issue, that could be anything.
Jindy, yeah I know, I can see your IP address and thus your ISP :-) I was just noting that sometimes connection issues are outside of Relic and THQ's responsibility to fix.

For this little snippet!! Fie on thee. Blasphemy!! How dare you and your Relic lackey's make such goals. To this I say, NEVERRRR!! No one will ever dethrone Bnet, not Relic, not EA, Gamespy or ANYONE!Originally Posted by ÜberJumper

Serioulsy though, that's one hell of a task. I guess they have enough time to give it a good whack! I'd say good luck, but it wouldn't be coming from my heart, at least not right now.

Well put Timeless and good update on the patch Buggo. If you are "that" close to the patch, coulnd't you give us a note on whats beeing changed? I mean, localization and the launcher issues wouldn't change the contentes of the patch afaik. Tho I could very well be wrong![]()
Nice onE!....finally the patch will be coming soon!!!!!!!!!....eh.release the english version.hehehe
It's not that things will be changed, it's that if they release it early, people will start pissing and moaning about imbalance before they even try it out. It happens with every game that does a patch with balance things in it.
The forum is filled with
ZOMG U FUKIN IDIOTZ U DIDN'T FIX <insert percieved problem here>
or ZOMG U NUBS MAED <insert percieved imbalance here> WERSE
or ZOMG TIHS IS SO UNBALACNCED EVEN THOUGH I'VE NEVER PLAYED IT LOL.
Well I cannot believe the patch is not out yet. I have been sitting here alone for 8 days, waiting for this patch. I took all the halloween candy I was going to hand out, but since I have been sitting here refreshing this thread for the last 8 days... I did not hand the candy out... I had to eat it since I was out of food.... since I have not left this seat for 8 days, I have not been to the store.
I need this patch or I think I may die soon. I have ...d. .aa..w....kd....
If you NEED a GAME to be PACHED, go find help. No really, go find help.
Omg SOOOON! OMFG it will be out SOOOON!.
Seriously guys, what is "Soon". My dad can say "Food will be ready soon". It could be 8 hours before its ready.
The only people who knows what soon is, are the people making the patch. They completely decide when it comes out and what the definition of "soon" is.
So dont get excited, it probably wont be out for another month or so. I mean who has ever released a patch when you wanted it to be released. I bet money it probabaly wont have any mod tools in it.
All i'm saying is dont get your hopes up because companys cannot be trusted........ever......look at EA and you will understand. :dmille:
i think the forums need some screen shots showing relic employees hard at work on the patch tbh.
this patch sure is taking it's sweet time. hopefully that means they will be releasing a desparately needed replay and observer mode as well...
i think the forums need some screen shots showing relic employees hard at work on the patch tbh.:bandit:
LOL sweet..like some chinese sweatshop ? or WoW goldfarmers ? Ah gooo guys tets, test ,test...that patch must be out ASAP....:blow:

Kortik did you actually bother to put this in the Tech forum instead of just posting here that the game "sucks" and that you'd brining it back, while you could've taken the time to try and fix it.
Don't return the game for two reasons:Originally Posted by kortik

Send your PC to me and I will test it for you, and make sure it's not the culprit. I will return it as soon as I have evaluated it's suitability to play COH with a full evaluation document attached. By which time the patch will be out, and you can test that yourself.
Hello there.
Look at this
1Gbx2 CORSAIR Twinx2048-3200c2 (2-3-3-6 1T)
your timings are too agressive for 3200 RAM. let them by default and the game will work.
Your system is crashing because of this. CoH is very RAM dmanding software and any error will crash it.
Amat victoria curam. (Catulle) Victory favors those who take pains
I have CoH since the first days of October but it never started yet on my pc...
I have an Athlon 64 SanDiego @3000 Mhz, 2 Gb Ram, Nvidia 6800 Ultra and Audigy 4 pro....
In the Tech Help noone has been able to help me..
Noone can undestand the problem... Tha game only crash on start.
TOO BAD!!!
Have you try to remove componets, first take out soundgard and try ,and so on. If I were you I just format hole system and try again.
I was joking about offering help, should have been obvious! This is not the tech support forum, which is where you need to ask for such assistance.
Games that crash on a system that is otherwise stable should not force a player to disassemble said system, lessons learn that 9 out of 10 times it is still the proggie that is at fault.
CoH has some issues on my system, I have found out more or less what settings it can and cannot handle. I can compare with a multitude of (recent) games and programs that run without flaws, I don't buy Relics BS about system instability one bit.
Find your bugs and deal with them. Don't lead people on wild goose hunts, it isn't fair to them.
Almost 60.000 views of this thread....
This shows people really want to see this patch or atleast some information on the patch.
Any news on the patch????![]()
3 weeks are over ... i want the patch now.
or just tell us what will be fixed in the patch.
Do you guys now what is a meatwear ? It is the PC component the most unpredictable of the entire system. It is placed between keyboard and the chair(armchair). That piece will do all possible thiungs to make system unstable no matter what you do.
Another tip for guys aving crushing problems :
Turn off your anti-virus when you launch the game. Many anti-virus softwares are completly paranoiac not allowing alot of files to execute.
It happened to me with Strechkov Syndicate Swat 4. Each time I launched the game it was going black screen then back to desktop. It turned to be my anti-virus which was not authorizing some game modules to launch.
I fail to believe the game isn't to blame for at least some of the crashing issues. Some people have tried pretty much everything and still have problems.

Oh certainly there are issues with the game on certain hardware and software configurations. There's no doubt about that. But the NUMBER of issues isn't that high considering how much the game has sold.
Nutter posted some great info earlier this week in the tech forum about the crash bugs they've been getting and been able to resolve.
There's no way a PC game can be tested on every possible combination of hardware and software out there. Only when PC games get released to the wild do you see bizzare situations that weren't seen in the open beta.
Dammit, I can't find that pic of the lone ship fleeing from a massive fleet. The one that has the lone ship saying "Its coming, I swear!" and the massive fleet of ships saying "Patch? Patch? Patch?"
Anyone have it :P?
Anyways, I see it like the matrix:
Boy: Do not try to wait for the patch; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Boy: There is no patch.
Neo: There is no patch?
Boy: Then you will see, it is not the patch that is released, it is only yourself.
This patch will turn into the dreaded Diablo2 1.10 patch. They kept saying it was coming out for like 2 years...lol
When it finally came out nobody cared, there was only like 50 people playing by then.
Mods and officials always talk about how great the game have sold, but never provide any evidence, no links, no nothing.Originally Posted by ÜberJumper

Errr check the post hexhammer, it DOES have a link in it to the numbers I'm referring to. After that, you can apologize :-D
Also, I didn't link to the specific info about sales, because I figured that'd be self evident, seeing as it's been in the top 5 selling PC games since release.

Something else...
I know I want to see a patch ASAP as the CAL leagues start this weekend for CoH. If we have some balance changes in the patch, we need to start playing with them now to know what works and what doesn't under the new version.
Furthermore, as much as I do defend Relic and their link to their community, this patch is long overdue. I understand the QA controls, and no one wants a buggy patch, but come on, the game has been in retail for, what, two months now? We all know there are balance issues, and some of us who are going to play competitively need to see what changes were made to adjust for the upcoming CAL season which starts Sunday.
So for the love of god, please release it.![]()
Crack out.

The game's been out a little over 6 weeks. Note that most game development companies let their core development staff go on holidays immediately after it's on shelves, so really they've been working on the patch for a few weeks at best.
I'm of mixed opinion on this... the longer it's out, the more bugs that get found in the wild (Internal QA and Open Betas will NEVER catch all the bugs). So the later they start on the patch, the more they can have to fix in it, but correspondingly the longer it takes. It's also more cost effective to patch once rather than multiple times.
I understand the reasonings behind releasing quickly as opposed to holding it back, but I think based on the number of views this thread has, I'd have to say that their customers are definately anxious to receive it.
I wasn't expecting anything early on, but @ this point I think the patch is overdue in most players minds. I want to see it done well and done correctly, and I believe at this point they've had enough time to accomplish both.
I also believe any needed balance changes will prevent the gameplay from becoming stagnant and therefore reenergize the core players...
I love CoH. It's by far the best RTS I've played in a long time, and will be for some time(judging by the SupCom beta, etc). I want to see this game be everything it was intended to be... at this point they've had enough time to accomplish producing a patch that gets the client closer to that goal.
So, I say again, please, lets see it.![]()
@ ÜberJumper
Hehe, the sales figures can't be read from that top 10 list. I'v seen many a game be in a top 10 list, but greatly varied in sales numbers. My point was how many is many, and how much is much?
But you doesn't have to apolegize![]()
I am in the wrong branch of software development. We are usually 'All hands on deck' immediately after a release in order to respond quickly to Hot fixes. The game's been out a little over 6 weeks. Note that most game development companies let their core development staff go on holidays immediately after it's on shelves, so really they've been working on the patch for a few weeks at best.
Anyways, since relic has confirmed mod tools in the thread above, can you confirm replay enhancements, please?

I talked to the Producer today and it looks like there are still some problems with the localized versions and the launcher for parts of the mod tools... QA is still working on it.
I'm sorry that we will miss the deadline by a couple days.![]()
'DAMNIT!' -Relic devs (and me after hearing this news)...
Thanks anyway Buggo.

Better delayed for few days tahn crippled with bugs. Certain game called Forces of Corruption will show you what happens when you have poor QA team. The game itsel is corrupted.
They pushed too far on the title and the soft itself was screwed.
Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the info Buggo! You really should be wary with your predictions though, the hardcore will be back on the 48 hour mark quoting your 'couple of days' to the point and shouting about it lol.
Thanks again for the update!
I don't mind if it's delayed, as long as it works!![]()
If the problems are with the launcher/localized versions for parts of the mod tools is there any chance of getting a changelog released?
#545
That'd be cool
/me sends message to Buggo
I can't see any reason not to post the changelog. If they truly are close to releasing the patch then the log should be fixed and there shouldn't be any risk of false advertising. If we don't see a changelog soon I'd bet we won't see a patch soon either.
-SC
As far as I know this thread is the longest in the history of this forums (CoH). May its length be the profecy of patch's quality...
Patch winsengin...
They already stated why they have not released a changelog. All people would do is piss and moan ZOMG X is IMBALANCED!!1111111111111111111eleventyone11!!!!!!111111I can't see any reason not to post the changelog. before they even play the patch. They don't want to do this.
I would argue that it's more important to post the changelog for the people who have legit reasons to preview it (see Crackbone's post a page back) rather than worrying about the morons who will complain no matter what. The people who will gripe about the balancing are already complaining about the current balancing (among other things), so they should not be considered when deciding whether or not to pre-release changelogs. Therefore, I can only think of one reason they haven't released the log: they aren't close to releasing the patch.
Of course, I could be wrong...
-SC
You are wrong. The errors they're having in the patching process are for localization. They don't do that until the very, very end.I would argue that it's more important to post the changelog for the people who have legit reasons to preview it (see Crackbone's post a page back) rather than worrying about the morons who will complain no matter what.
