Flame Retardant Allied Uniforms

    Flame Retardant Uniforms for Allies?

    Has anyone looked at the PlanetCoH site?
    It has breakdowns of the various units in the game showing health, damage, costs etc. etc.
    I mention it because I noticed something very strange there.
    According to them, all allied infantry units take 8 fire damage per second, while all axis infantry units take 12 damage per second.
    Why is that?
    If it is meant to reflect the proportionately smaller sizes of axis units, it doesn't make sense because if that was the case, it would logically be a lower value for the larger units (of either side) and increase as the unit size decreased for both sides.

    I don't understand how this can possibly be balanced bearing in mind the other limitations of axis infantry (as noted elsewhere) and bearing in mind that the allies already have far stranger flame units (the larger, healthier Engineer unit and the heavily armoured crocodile sherman).

    Axis infantry typically have more hitpoints than Allied infantry, so this adjustment just means that an Axis soldier dies from fire at the same time as an Allied soldier. So apparently flamethrowers are an equalizer, capable of killing infantry at the same rate regardless of how tough they are, by simply having their 'damage from fire' value adjusted accordingly.

    The claim that Axis troops have more health is incorrect as you can see by looking at the facts (according to PlanetCoH and other sites):

    Axis units Health:
    Pioneer Unit = 140
    Volksgrenadiers = 300
    Grenadiers = 320
    Stormtroopers = 380
    Knights Cross = 270

    Allied units Health:
    Engineer unit = 165
    Riflemen = 275
    Rangers = 325
    Airborne = 420

    So, Engineers have more health than Pioneers, Riflemen have more health than Knights Cross units, Rangers have more health than Knights Cross, Volks or normal Grenadiers and Airborne have more health than all Axis infantry.

    I locked the thread because Thoragos had already started to push it into the imbalance and flame territory many threads seem to be descending into lately. I apologize for leaving incorrect information up (others complained as well), so in payment for that mistake I'll unlock this thread and clean it up to be what the original thread should have been.

    Is that for the entire squad, or per person?

    Reason I ask is I have noticed that its harder to wipe out squads with Axis flamers, then the other way around. I always seem to miss that single Engineer even though I burnt his 2 buddies.

    Same with Rifle squads. They seem to spread out more then Axis squads.

    i believe those hitpoints are per squad. axis have smaller squads so each entity or member of the squad has more hitpoints than their allied counterpart

    Thank you Starfisher.
    I apologise if I seemed irate in my response above.

    From others have said it is possible that the information held on PlanetCoH is not correct (having been taken from a beta version).
    Can someone confirm this?
    Even I consider it pointless having a debate based on erroneous information :P
