O.K., this SG is actually one of the easiest in the game for any race to beat.

Beating the enemy initial rush is very easy, just make sure you have HG that is capable o destroying enemy vehicles, and some units to gun down the Ork Wave while your Commander tanks. Having a fully built Forward base will actually turn beating the enemy attack into a question of whenever you do or do not have AV, as your infantry destroying power will be through the roof.

After you set up a decent defense and tech up, the idea is to send jump/teleport/whatever troops to take out the big banners in secondary Ork bases. Doing that will pretty much end any significant attacks by the enemy and clear your way to one big attack to kill the Warboss.

For SM I suggest 2 squads of ASM with meltas.
For Tau I suggest Vespids or Crisis Suits or the HG equavilent of both.
For Chaos I suggest Raptors or the Bloodthirster if you choose to take Relic.
    For IG I suggest Earthshakers.
For Eldar I suggest their Jump capable vehicles or Warpspiders.
    For Necrons, well, Nightbringer.

After you are done with the small bases, move through the bottom two bases and amass a force right under the Warboss's base. Attack Move, focus your hero killing units to take down the Warboss, win.

    [As Tau]
Repel initial rushes by getting some shooting units fast if you don't have Honour Guard at hand. After that, just form an Army of HH+SR and a squad of Vespids (and maybe a squad of Stealsuits and FWs or two), then wipe out everything on the map. If you can micro your units well then you won't even lose a single vehicle.

If you find enemy units massed out in one place in their bases, take out the banners first so that they can kill each other as you mop them up. Just to be careful of Tankbustas and Looted Tanks and all shall be fine.

    Very.Easy.

    [As Crons]
The efforts are nearly the same, except the Flayed Ones aren't so much needed on this map (except as buffers when you face massed-up Orks) since you can shoot enemy to death. So mass up Destroyers/Heavy Destroyers and Warriors and raze one outpost to another with Necron Lord. The main base itself won't be too much threat if you still have a bunch of Heavy Destroyers at hand.

    Like Tau, just micro everything.

The Ork stronghold is an easy one. Played with Tau. Survive the initial assault with honour guard units. Make sure you have stealth detectors for the Tankbustaz, as they can be a pain.

Regarding the clan banners, a good strategy is to use raiding jump/fly/teleport units to go in, raze the banner, jump out, then wait for Gorgutz's boyz to cream the rebelz.

Taking out all the clan banners helps.

To win, just charge forward with top-tier infantry and some anti-tank/artillery for the Looted tanks. Gorgutz goes down easy with focussed fire, giving you a nice cutscene showing the Ork buggering off home. Awwwww.

Im actually having a tough time on this mission as Tau. It seems that before I can even cap the first point I am satring down 3 killa cans and an endless swarm of Orks.

Could be that Gorgutz has got himself a stacked out honour guard and is either sitting on the stronghold territory or an adjacent territory. I'm currently facing that dilemma myself, playing as IG, since Gorgutz even has Looted Leman Russ tanks in his honour guard.

So I'm waiting for him to bugger off and attack someone else, then I'll use Space Port to jump in.

You only need to defend your southern path to your base and the area right infront of the headcrusha's base. If your IG tech up to your bassies and secure the small outpost thats on the other side of the mountain (almost directly east of your position). then use earthshakers on where the banner is (right next to the strategic point inside the walls). this should kill the banner and make it so that the clan goes nuts and rebels.

Now if you turtle up at this point (you can really pull of this strategy with any jumpable/artillary that's ab) you'll probably have at least one other base get dominoed along into rebelling (as the left overs from the first group move on into anothers base.)

Also TAKE THE RELIC! it causes several of the orks near gorgutz to go independant because you took the "maw of gork". once you've hit all the near by banners and turned the area into a mosh pit of fighting orcs, steam roll em all. it should be fairly easy as they are all too busy fighting eachother and will ignore your infantry for the most part. then just attack into gorgutz camp and kill him.

When playing this, I managed to have one of the ork warbands do some banners for me.

I took out the banner in the northwest (headcrushaz), with jetpack Tau commander surgical strike. I buggered off and left them alone and went back to turtling. Then I got some messages about other banners being destroyed when I hadn't even advanced that far - the headcrushaz orks did the work for me
Think they got far enough to let the rebel squiggoth army lose, before getting smashed.

If you play a race with access to artillery, using the Attack Ground option to take out banners from a distance works like a charm. You can waltz through the mission having hardly done any real fighting.

Warp spiders are def. the way to go for destroying the banners. you needs two squads (with the haywires ofc) to take the banners down iirc. in, boom, out. then sit back & watch them fight each other. works for all the subsidiary bases.

Also, if you wanna screw around as Eldar, the Farseer with full recharge upgrades, recharge wargear, and full seer council can fire of an Eldrich Storm (will take out big banners in 1-2 hits ) every 40 or so seconds. And the Seer Council with Farseer in lead just doesn't die in this campaign. It's sad, really, how it can easily tank multiple walkers without breaking a sweat.

Eldar can use WS's to take out the banners.

Use haywire grenades, jump in jump out.

next thing U know, the orks are all killing eachother

    just sit back and watch.

I am having lots of trouble with this stronghold with SM. The Warlord has 2 HG, some Sluggas and Shootas i think, and the stronghold is my 2nd last one left with strength of 15. (Playing on NORMAL)

My HG consists of Dreadnaught, 2 ASM and a landspeeder.

Every time I play their initial rush overwhelms me and even with my HG i can't fight them off. (And here people are saying all you need is HG) So when i think i finally beat their rush, here comes some more Storm Boyz. What do i do? How do i beat this onslaught?

    Help appreciated,
    Thanks

Minion_Master I completed this with SM on normal really easily, looking at your honor guard that might be the problem, wheres the rest of it?

The honor guard chaplain is essential, hes got a very strong melee attack and heals all your units up, when the mission started i set all my terminators and space marine HG (equipped with heavy bolters) to ranged and had my commander, chaplain and dreadnaught honor guard in front of them to soak up the dmg, have the HG librarian or a turret built to detect any tankbustas.

If you're really struggling get some more honor guard first or take the Hyperion Peaks and go for a full forward base on the ork stronghold, those two combined should make the mission easy and give you enuff time to build up substantial base defense.

Eye of Terror...beating the shit outta those traitors!
Got it devastated yesterday... Nothing withstands a pack of 9 dreads (7+honor guard) with one lil skull... Didn't even have to wait till the rebel orks get beaten... Really easy one. By the way...the same 9 dreads, without the skull work in the Chaos stronghold...
The IMPERIAL Good is definitely GREATER!

    SM Hard

    Painfully easy stronghold.

As SM on Hard, my strategy was very simple. The Afforementioned ASM Jump in, Meltas, Jump out. It's easy to get disrupted, so be sure to use Pause if you're feeling unlucky / too cheap to reinforce. The push at the beginning is very easy to repel, and I have the sneaking suspicion that I wasted the requisition I needed to summon the turrets.

Once you've captured the first 6 listening posts (3 in your base, 3 right outside) and fortified them, you'll be surprised at how linear the map is. Destroy the two WAAAAGHs with Meltas before the relic, send your entire army in, take the relic, destroy the other two WAAAAGHs, crush Gorgutz. Hurry to destroy the first few WAAAGHs, then take your time. I had to deal with a stray Squiggoth, and that was about it.

Keep in mind that Gorgutz had a humiliating Honour Guard (3 units, Shootas and Sluggas I think) for me. It's easy to get maxed out troop caps and vehicle caps, and I don't believe I lost one honour guard unit. This was easier than most maps I had to clear.

I sent a squad of 3 scouts, invisible and 2 plasma guns equipped. killed 3 nob squads and took a relic. it was child's play from then. Dodging wartraks was annoying as they went and destroyed my turrets

Can be hard for some, the Orks sometimes attack in big, and i mean BIG, groups.
The Eldar are probably one of the worst to attack the Ork Stronghold as they aren't the melee type.

My tactic for this stronghold was; Make Army and go around the map tearing everything and anything down.

Chaos on easy is very easy. BT preds and defilers w/ HG and some CSM squads pound the place into dust. Took out all of 2 clans and killed gorgutz easy as pie. Looted tanks probably hardest part, but defiler CC is easy kill of tanks

I didn't even fight the other bases. I just had my 2 Honor Guard Ranger units move ahead and take out all of the orks guarding the relic area (be careful not to get them detected).

Then I just built up 5 falcons while fending off the mass ork attacks on my base. Loaded up Honor Guard Seer Council with Taldeer, another Seer Council, and tons of Banshees and Harlequins. Just for good measure I added a bunch of Warp Spider units.

Just run into Gorgutz' base, don't stop to fight anything. This takes some micro management on your forces because they will tend to get stuck in the huge clog. Just use the Falcons and Warp Spiders' jump abilities to get them out of trouble spots.

Once you get to Gorgutz unload all the Falcons and tell everyone to fire on the Ork Warboss. Gorgutz will be so boxed in he won't be able to move!

It was easy with chaos HG. the raptor champions destroyed each banner and after training 4 Berserks and 1 Possesed marine squad the entire mission went smoothly. And i truly enjoyed seeing the Bloodthirster chop down the squiggoths

I had a really fun time with the IG when playing this on med.

Used bassie to destroy the first banner with an earthshaker, and proceeded to watch them destroy two other banners while they rampaged around. Then I destroyed the rokkitrangaz banner, and they took care of the remaining clan's banner. After that, it was some basic mop-up, then killed Gorgutz. With the vindicares.

With SM, this can be stupid easy, even on hard. You can just grab the first six points, fort up a bit, and build 10 land speeders. You should be able to take out at least three of the banners with that squad, and possibly all of them. Build a second wave if you have to, or follow them up with ASM's.

Once all the banners are down, move forward and take out Gorgutz with the army you've been building in the meantime.

As Chaos, the start was a lot of fun (on normal at least), having three CSM squads with four heavy bolters each to greet anything after the first wave.

This is so easy for Tau it's not funny.

I tore each base to shreds with 2 stealth teams and finished Gorgutz when he was standing before a green sea of his army taken down by just 8 men.

Easiest stronghold in the game. Just build few turrets on the start, they will be protecting you from attacks. Then just rush the first banner. Keep Orks at long distance from you and just snipe them Bum, bum, bum and you are in the main stronghold. Pretty easy, wasn't it? This one doesn't need more advices as it's really really easy - and yes even on hard.

    With SM on Normal

    An easy one, but...
better have a few HG to begin and to resist the first rushes,
then, tech to have a good army. Split it in two more or less equal forces. One to north to destroy the first banners and the northern others, one to south to destroy the southern one until the relic.
There, join your forces, construct the Land Raider and then go to Gorgutz. When you see him, beware of your SM with missiles and of your Dreds, missiles make fly Gorgutz and cancel your action to "target" him with all your army.

One time I did with one big army, and when I was progressing by the north, my south entry was attacking by Lehman Russ, and when I was progressing by the south...
That's why it's better to have 2 forces.
