    Quickedit-anyway, any idea why it won't work on 'high'? I tried renaming the folder to from 'med' to 'high' but no joy. I can't seem to find Sturm in the DoW archive either.

    i liked the wa farseer's voice better. the dc vioce sounds like shes not quite sure of herself but highly wisdomed. sort of like an 80 yr old elf that has a lot of coffee and vodka mixed together. (you wont know whats hit you with that )

    hi guys, i released a mod on filefront called adeptus imperium. its designed for the single player campaign and adds toth & brom from the original game and works ok.

    i finished modding the other races tonight but before i release the complete version i'd like to add some new heros. what i'm trying to do now is add all the previous heros to the armies, not replace them, so u can build both thule & angerlos. but i'm not having much luck, is there a guide or somthing that can help me?

    i figure if i work out how to do thule & angerlos together then i can work out the others like general sturn,krull,bale,sindri etc

    any help would be gr8, thx in advance

    I finally did this to revert to the good old voices for the FC, the IG General and for Ork Nobz. Just so people know, if you use High quality sound settings the folder shouldn't be named Med, and shouldn't be named High, it should be named Full for it to work.

    Kick ass dude, this was actually really easy (for me anyway). Putting in Sindri was a snap after i got the hang of it with Gabriel. It's so nice hearing the new chaos lord and the old sorceror together.......what a voice combo that makes . While i was at it i went and made myself a nice .rar extractor for whenever I feel like switching up the voices so i don't have to do the unpacking/modding diectories manually again. I'd share it if I knew it was OK to do so, considering it has their files and stuff.

    I just noticed something about the restored FC I have, he still shouts "Space Marines, attack!!" in his new voice. Anyway to fix that?

    Yes. With the FC (and ONLY the FC) you have to actually copy/paste and rename some audio files to fix that. (this is due to the fact that there are additional files with thule, he's the only new commander with them. Even the new imperial guard commander's files are actually still tagged sturnn_1, lol)


    A couple of last things to do and we're finished.

    In Windows, open: ...\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\W40k\Data_Sound\Med\sound\speech\races\
    space_marines\force_commander\selection\

    Copy this file: 403119.fda

    Put it on the desktop and rename it to: 402119.fda

    CUT and PASTE it back. 402119.fda is a new sound file, it contains the new 'Walk softly
    and carry a big gun' speech. 403119.fda is the older version, renaming and pasting it over
    removes the last of the new FC chat.

    In Windows, open:
    ...Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\W40k\Data_Sound\Med\sound\speech\races\spa ce_marines\force_commander\die\

    Copy these files:

    die_1.fda
    die_2.fda
    die_3.fda

    Place them on the desktop and rename them to:

    2776200.fda
    403400.fda
    403401.fda

    CUT and PASTE these back into \force_commander\die\

    This replaces the last of the death vocals.
    You have to do these steps to fix the last of the sound bits. That'll fix it

    I did all of those and he still shouts the line I mentioned. Those ones are selection and death quotes, the one I mentioned is one where he is charging the enemy.

    Check this out



    Not only did i manage to get gabriel back into the game with his icon, model, and voice....but i figured out how to get the models into the main menu . You have to access engine Dawn of War - Dark Crusade/Engine/Engine.sga using modextractor.

    From there you need to access folder art/ui/3d_models

    get force_commander_frontend.whe and force_commander_frontend.whm

    Put these 2 files into Dawn of War - Dark Crusade/Engine/Data/art/ui/3d_models/

    Next thing you need to do is extract the textures (or he'll be a pink blob)

    access engine.sga again and get files from art/ui/3d_models/texture_share/

    get frontend_force_commander_torso.rsh, frontend_force_commander_unit.rsh, frontend_force_commander_unit_default.rsh, frontend_force_commander_bolt_pistol.rsh

    extract these files into Dawn of War - Dark Crusade/Engine/Data/art/ui/3d_models/texture_share

    You will now see that grinning mug at the main menu screen This method will work for all other models too. I'm currentlyi n the process of getting every old commander back into the game (i have EVERY old voice extracted & tested, good ol SINDRI sorceror, 2 chaos lords {Baal & Krull}, 2 {Vanilla & Winter Assault} farseers, Sturnn IG commander, Ol' Gabriel SM Force Commander & old ork nob voice) I have all of the icons extracted and tested. All of the models work too except the Chaos Lord original model, there are some issues that have cropped up. I'm sure i'll figure it out, it's the last hurdle left.

    On a side note for anyone putting sturnn's voice back into the game: makes ure you have the _default.rat file from the WXPData_Sound_Speech.sga (sound/speech/races/_default.rat) and have it placed into Dawn of War - Dark Crusade/W40K/Data_Sound/Full/sound/speech/races/ folder otherwise sturnn's voice doesn't scale right (his voice is much louder than everything else otherwise)

    I'm planning on making .rar extractors for each commander (and respective menu) once I figure out the last bits with the chaos lord. At least i have everyone else up and running all nice and shiny......ROCK ON!

    Ok crystalking, looks like you need to extract his soundfiles again. Just copy over whatever is there (your new files won't get overwritten, obviously). That should do it, as his voice is working all original for me. "Space marines.......attaaaack" like he should be.

    I had been meaning to add this bit for a while.. at least to complete the Gabriel Angelos restoration:



    @Knight_Kin: I think actually distributing the files needed is illegal, as it's making contant available that might not be available to those who only have DC. That's why I wrote a tutorial.

    Yes hangar-8 I realized that after i posted my last post (i would have had links already since i finished them yesterday. I also deleted my old post about it, BTW). I was thinking 'oh wait a second anyone without DOW or WA could have these commanders' when i was testing out my new commanders online. Pity, i spent all that time and have everything layed out nicely. Hey at least i have it for my own reference. Hmm perhaps if I had more experience with making installers I could have something that checks for all 3 games before allowing them to install....but thats neither here nor there. Shame the game doesn't already have a feature that allows you to use commanders from your old games (say if you put in your cd-key it unlocks the ability to use the old commanders much like it takes to play those races online.) Pretty wishful thinking though, as i've already put that idea into the suggestion box.

    Anyway.

    Have you been able to successfully get Baal back into the game? I have his voices, icon, textures and model back into the game, but i can't seem to get his weapon back in during non-fighting animations (once the fighting starts his scythe comes out but when he's running/standing still it's a power sword). Here's a screenshot:



    He actually looks pretty cool with the powersword but the sudden switch to the scythe in the middle of battles is a bit strange. Spent awhile trying to tackle it, couldn't seem to figure it out.

    Actually, I found that when I helped someone restore Gabriel via the pm's, he couldn't do it until he copied several of the files from his DoW install... I'm watching the scythe restoration with interest. I SO want loved how the chaos lord had a scythe!
    As for the farseer-I can't tell the difference.

    Why is there a problem with distributing these files? After all, those without DoW or WA won't be able to play the races these files affect, and so won't be able to use them anyway...

    The way it works, is essentially you're taking DoW vanilla content and/or Winter Assault Content and putting it into Dark Crusade. Extending this, it would be like taking the necros from Dark Crusade and directly converting them to vanilla dawn of war. Hence the copyright hoo-hah.

    But, as I understand it (I have all three so I never tried it), if someone doesn't own DoW or WA, that person can only play as the Necrons or the Tau. Thus they wouldn't be able to see any of this content ingame, and wouldn't have any use for these files. So it's not at all like making the Necrons available in WA, since it's not *enabling* any new content for those who don't have the other games, only replacing some files for those who do. Right?

    Edit: I should mention that I'm not arguing about this because I want the installer for myself; I've already re-enabled good ol' Gabe in my own game by following the tutorials in this thread. I just don't see the problem with making it easier for others.

    Actually, you can only play as Tau and Necron online. Offline, however, if you only own Dark Crusade, you can play as all seven races. When you buy the other game and its expansion, you unlock the original races and the guard for online play.

    I got to the point with the Chaos Lord model as you Knight Kin. I can't figure out how to get the old model to work properly in game. The power sword does look cool but as soon as he enters combat the good old scythe comes out. I gave up after a while...hopefully someone can figure out a way to get the old chaos lord back.

    Apparently, that is the DoW campaign chaos lord animations at work. If anybody else noticed further, he uses the Force Commander's idle animations. Dunno how to fix it though.

    one thing i noticed with old imperial guard voices is they are loud as shit compared to the DC ones...is that a bug or something? cus i played IG just now with the overwritten voiceovers and everything but the HWT was x2 louder than normal

    Did you even read the thread? This is an instructional thread for people to do this themselves. I'm pretty sure distributing the files for download would violate the EULA, considering that there are people out there who don't have DoW and WA.

    Since I've started playing Dark Crusade, I was rather disappointed with some of the changes that were made to some of the characters and voices, but took it in stride, thinking that I'd get used to them in time....

    ...but now that I've used this guide to swap out Thule and Alexander for Gabriel Angelos and General Sturnn, and restored the old voices for Taldeer, The Chaos Sorcerer and the Ork Nobz, I feel -much- better when I play DC than I did before.

    It always felt that something was off when I was playing Dark Crusade, like some of the "magic" that was there when I was playing DOW and especially Winter Assault were gone. I couldn't quite put my finger on it (could've been the balance changes, the new races, new voices/character or any number of things I figured) but when I restored the new voices/characters I didn't like with the old ones I did like, I realized that this issue was the one that had been bothering me the most.

    Kudos to you guys and everyone who helped in this thread for helping to give me and probably quite a few other people out there some of the "magic" from the older games back.

    I'm definitely going to post to suggest adding the ability to pick older commanders/voices in skirmish/multiplayer as a feature in an upcoming patch in the suggestion box. In the meantime, I find myself cackling with glee when fielding Eliphas with Sindri Myr (I like Crull too, but not so much that I patched him in back, which is a little odd given that I like Crull slightly more than Eliphas) as their voice combinations are -awesome-! And General Sturnn has been dying a hell of a lot in my games because I refuse to reinforce him and have his voice be overwritten by that loudmouthed priest.

    Hangar-8, I think your textures are the best, how can I add them into the CAmpaing on DC? I would like to get the old Blood Ravens on Kronus(green eyes, gold eagle, etc) because the Black eagled red eyed ones annoy me greatly...
    It is possible to make GAbriel Angelos to get WArgear? And how Can i do that(in a mod) to put in Gabriel's voice to a unit "Sm captain" to have him as 4th marine commander, alongside with Thule and not as replacing, along with Crull as "khorne Champion". I have bought DOW/WA/DC, so I dont violate any thingie, in any means.
    please help!

    Then I have renamed the files you said to yet I get no voice change.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    As said before in this thread, if you change "med" for "full" (like this: data_sound/full/speech/races/space_marine) you can (or rather, you'll have to) play with Sound Quality High.

    When you do it with Sturnn, you extract form WXP and you put the files in the correct data. However it didn't needed any renaming.

    Hey, i've had a few problems trying to get the voice to change back to the old force commander.

    The main problem is that it doesn't work.

    I've followed the tutorial posted on the first page, and repeated it 3 times, each time being even more careful about the files i change, copy and paste here and there, and i still can't do a thing. Still the crappy new FC voice.

    Any help that anyone can give me? Apart from "try again". I just can't get anything to work.

    I'm using the set of tools for DC, the beta set which is stickied at the top of this very forum. I attempted to use version 1.41 which is posted elsewhere, but it doesn't seem to install at all.

    Using DoW tools 1.41's ModExtractor, I did as instructed for both the Med and High folders (I run my sound on High) to try and restore the Farseer's voice from WA. So far I've had no success! I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or if I should use another program and start over. Can anyone with more mod experience than I (read: ANY) help?

    The Farseer voice in WA and DC to my knowledge is the same. The Ork Warboss voice is the same in WA and DC too. I followed the instructions and changed the voice of the Farseer and Ork Warboss to the originals in DOW. Are you trying to change the Farseer voice to the original in DOW?

    What the hell man, I tried to do this for IG captain, but it doesnt woork!! Instead of goig to w40k , I wen to wxp, and did the rest as you said, but I didnt rename the last couple files, because they were named different then the Force commander, so now my stupid captain still sounds like a high school student.
