German speech file modification for OF and vCoH (v2.101~2.103)

    Download here:

    http://files.filefront.com/WW2AxisSp.../fileinfo.html

The original German speech file was missing some essential sounds so I've decided to fix it.

    Here it is folks!

These are the changes so far.(Updated 10/7/2007)

*Added Building sounds (Relic deleted this in patch 2.101 WTF?)

*Added Phase upgrade sounds (This one too, WTH?)

*Added the missing German MG42 team "unitcreated" speech line (This one is also deleted)

*Filesize is somewhat smaller thanks to Corsix's tool

*"For the Fatherland!" ability now plays the same brodcast as the English one.

    *Bug fixed.

    *Updated to latest version. (v2.101)

You can just replace this with your original file.

Save your original file somewhere safe and replace it with this in WW2/Archives folder.

Will this make all unit in game speak German, or just the Axis?

Stupid question: am I still able to play ranked online matches using this file?

...or does it give de-sync errors because the game thinks it might be a hack.

This file is only for the Axis.

and no, this does not affect your online game play at all.

Yes, that's really really strange. :dolt: Couldn't figure it out myself so far ...

Anyhow, thanks for that great fixed version of the AxisSpeech file. :howdy:
As a German user owning the UK import of CoH, I'm surely the one suffering most from the terrible German language on Axis side.

    Thanks again

    Wow ! THANKS !

Especially for fixing the missing sounds, that is the reason why I will use it over the original now.

Anyway I can mix the English version and this version to make the Axis speak both German AND English?
    Where's the Bloody Taanks!!??

Well actually not quite. You can mix it if you want it but the localized(German) bsc files points to different (file name) smf files.

They use a totally different archive from the English one.

You will need a serious digging if you want to mix them properly. I had a hard time with bsc files myself.

I noticed that axis infantry wouldnt cry when they die, while the americans are like, "argh! err! arggghh!"

    Did you fix this too?

nsysusolo// Thanks for the info. I'll check it.

I'm still looking for "For the Fatherland" propaganda sound BTW.

  16. #16
Isnt the phrase "... hat einen Mann verloren!" the counterpart to the crying on the US side?

I also discovered a missing sound file btw:

While US troops inform you vocally if they capture a simple manpower flag point, German troops do not - they remain silent, only the text message informs the player.

This only happens with manpower flag points, fuel and ammo point are not affected.

Okay, so I figured it out about "For the Fatherland" ability thing.

The German version's bsc files points to different location from the English one.

German "xb_gan_apl_ftfgen_nt_s.bsc"(ftf=for the fatherland) file points to "speech/gan/intel/playerability/xb_gan_apl_zeagen_nt_s_XXXXXX.smf" which are normal voices not a broadcast.

But the English bsc file points to a different location, "specialability/xb_gan_apl_zeagen_nt_s_XXXXXX.smf" which are NOT in "WW2AxisspeechEnglish.sga" but in "WW2SoundspeechEnglish.sga"

These files are same lines but a different version. (Broadcast)

Well, it's quite complicated to explain, but I fixed it anyways.

And about manpower point capture completed line, I noticed that there isn't any in English version too, so I won't be bothered to fix it in the first place.

Funny thing is, that there are SMF files for that purpose but they are never used in-game.

    And some interesting findings.

-"pn1", "pn2" folders in "WW2AxisspeechEnglish.sga" are Pioneer lines but never used. It's a total different voice of pioneer and all the lines are intact.

Modders might want to use this one for their "Sturmpionere" or something.

Just remember that there are no bsc file pointing to that folder, so you have to make one to utilize these lines.

-There are some interesting lines that are never used. Like "I was a SS officer once" or "The SS only accepts blabla~"

-There are some bloopers in those soundlines like the voiceactor stammers and says "Can we do this again?" It was hilarious.

I will post the update version of this file soon.

"And about manpower point capture completed line, I noticed that there isn't any in English version too, so I won't be bothered to fix it in the first place."

Hmm, that's strange. I just tested it ingame again: At least Engineers and Riflemen definately activate a voice fx after capturing a manpower (strategic) flag.

    The phrases include:
    "Able Co has the point!"
    "Point is ours!"
    "...is Able Co territory now!"

Anyway, I am looking forward to your new speed file. It is so much better than the original one.

Bohewulf// I know Allies do speak their capture line. What I meant was 'English' Axis troops does not have that capture line too.

And I will check about that building enter/exit line.

Can you be more specific though? Like which version is missing or etc.

The one released on "Tuesday, November 07, 2006 10:07 PM". Can you explain to me how to extract the sounds for this like what folders they are? Cause for now I want to extract all the English and German voices. Than copy the German ones over the English ones so the missing sounds will play in English that why I don't have awkward silence. It would also be easier to identify the missing sounds. So can you explain what to extract?

And I had just finished setting up a Pionierkompanie doctrine for my mod. After having a listen to the pn1 folder, I think I will utilize them for the full-strength Pionier squad that the pionierkompanie uses.

MirrorImage// You can extract it using Corsix's tool.

Even if you copy it over English version, the missing sound will be still missing(except some) since they use totally different set of bsc file.

    Hey, DoctorLee !

Patch 1.5 refused to install correctly with any modifications installed to the game. So I needed to put in the original WW2AxisSpeechEnglish.sga file again in order to install then.

So can you please please make/upload an updated fixed version of that AxisSpeechEnglish.sga (patch 1.5 compatible) again?
Best would be as soon as possible ... please, mate, I'm counting on you.

I second this request... I hate the corny english axis speech and i really appreciate your work on this DoctorLee.

I didnt fully understand the last few posts. Will an updated 1.5 compatible speech file(s) have every axis sound (included ones that may have been added with the patch)?

Okay, patch 1.5 significantly changes lots of sounds, including speeches, so I will need an 1.5 version updated(NOT modified!) German version of WW2Axisspeech.sga file.

As soon as I get the file, I will continue working on this.

So, please, if you have a German import version of this game, plz upload it and post it here so I may continue working on this.

NOTE : 1.4 version(modified) of speech file is NOT COMPATITABLE with 1.5 COH.

You can still use it, but it will lack those cool new sounds added in 1.5.

These are the changes so far.(Updated 2/17)

*Added Building sounds (Relic fixed this in patch 1.5)

*Added Phase upgrade sounds (This one too)

*Added the missing German MG42 team "unitcreated" speech line

    ...

I just dled the file and played around some time.

Unfortunately, I still have no speech for both the phase upgrades and MG42-team ready-check.

Is this problem known or did I dled the wrong file somehow?

I will check it and reupload the file if neccessary.

    Reuploaded with a fixed file.

Now Phase upgrade, MG42 unitcreated line should work properly.

    Thanks for notifying me, Bohewulf.

Someguy01// There is no problem with Volks' buildstructure line.

They just don't have any lines when you order them to begin construction.

(This line is not included in English speech file too)
