This was one of the best Challenges yet my friend. Hats off to you.

Once again I score in the top contenders but just couldn't make it over the line to victory! I am looking forward to what you think up next.

    Maybe Orky assault?
Only one of us is going to leave here alive and it ain't gonna be me!

No one is above the law...of physics.

  2. #102
:dito: I happen to agree with Dooks, this was expectionally awesome, especially since it just happened so quickly and there was no real waiting for results. I love the idea and I can't wait for the next one.

I second Dooks on his Orky Assault. 20 Sluggas, just keep em coming (that's a body count...), or maybe even Khorne Bezerkers.

Wait... how about Gunslingers? No assault, just duel at dawn at 12".

Good job MOO! Well done indeed. I thought it was done very professionally and very quickly. Simple, yet super effective. My hat's off to you Dropkick, good Job! Well done everyone, it was really enjoyable.

I left him out because he smells...
    Thanks, Moo!

Great competition and I have to admit I was rather surprised at some of the results. I was going to go with some Lightning Claw Chosen (and then LC loyalists) but was too slow. I genuinely thought they would win hands down.

My second choice was Rending Rippers (showing my senility there) so I finally settled on the Bloodthirster.

    Congratulations dropkick!

    GawD...

You did say something about Death Company, but everyone tends to make suggestions and ideas at the start, and as you didn't really put in a proper entry, I figured it was just like the general talk that goes on at the start.

If you look at other's posts it's obvious that they are their actual entries, while many people have multiple posts about ideas they have it is clear what is their entry.
I honestly thought yours wasn't, so I was waiting for it to be posted.

    Sorry, mate.

So, lessons to be learnt here:

    1. Entries shall be made clearly and coherently.

When entering a "Moo-Challenge" (copyright pending) please state your intention to enter and the entry you wish to submit clearly. This may change a bit over time with changes of mood/idea theft from others/others nicking your idea before you get time to enter it.

If your entry is not clear then Moo holds final say-so on whether it is entered (see rule 2).

Entries are suggested to look like this (approximately):

    Hello there Mr Moo-Freaky.
Your latest challenge looks spiffing and i wish to enter.
My entry is of a unit of X chaps armed with Y guns, Z grenades and a filly tutu for the jolly old sergeant

Note this translates to: Cool! Challenge! I'm in! Here's my entry. 8 assault marines, tooled up with plasma pistols, frags and a powerfist on the serg. for a gazillion points
    2. In here Moo is God
Moo has the last say. If anything is uncertain, then Moo's decision is final. This is a dictorship and not a democracy. All hail Moo!... Yeah. That covers it.

    3. The Dice Gods are fickle
In any challenge, taking a super tooled up entry does not garauntee victory. The Dice Gods have a habit of messing with peoples minds by granting quadruple 6s or double snake eyes. So if your entry dies on its, um, well lets say "glutious maximus", then don't waste time complaining to Moo. Instead, accept that the Dice Gods are displeased with you and go out an sacrifice a D6 to them. This should solve the problems in future.

Great challenge Moo. On fine form as usual.

Very true, and it's a nice reminder.

Well, got a 6th doesn't too shabby, but point wise, I actually lose to everyone else above. Look, I pay 500pts+ for a unit to kill 40 guys, but others seemed pay less to kill similar amounts. (Except Dropkick, where MoT costs more than MoK)

Anyway, congrats Dropkick. ALL HAIL CHAOS!
(Moo, I suggest that next time similar challenges should include at least a walker of any sort to give even harder situations to rock on.)
LET THE GALAXY BURN!! IRON FOR THE IRON GOD!
    Arise, my Iron Legionnaires!!
Only argue with me about 40K gaming after reading this, about Tau after this, this and this, and about Space Marines after that.Remember!

    Ok.

Just worked out that i paid 400 points for my squad.

Killed 28: So we assume that is 2 sergeants and 26 marines (two full squads with the sergeant and anotehr marine surviving in the thrid wave.

Totalling the points for two sergeants armed as above + 26 assault marines works out at 676 kill points.

    Cost 400
    Killed 676
    Kill point ratio: 1.69 hmmm

general: you killed 40. i.e. 4 full squads. Paid 500 points.

    General Cost: 500
    General Killed: 1000
    Kill point ratio: 2

Grrrr. You did better than i did there.

Sweet. Got 9th. 20 T5 guys and a manreaper are always going to be hard to kill!
Hopefully it wasn't the manreaper killing the AC that lost me at the end.

I might stick to that basic set-up for most challenges...

My squad costed 527pts, who killed (assuming) 4 full squads of AMs with Sergeants, which each squad costs 250pts.
    So that's 1000/527=about 1.90 Marines.

Just to remember Watcher, I actually paid 127pts more than you to kill 0.4 Marines more. Ratio wise, it's not that good.

Heh. There have been a few instances of this happening.

One I still love though... Popsumpots Shaper w/ Eviscerator and Mark of the Favoured Child, reaching the Semi-Finals of Challenge I.
He took out numerous far superior (on paper) entries, who also costed far more.

Beast, I remember doing it... I shall go and find my notebook and get your result now...

Added you in Beast, you got 6.

I knew I'd done it. I remember because you were lucky to not get 1.
First turn you were penetrated 3 times, but had three 1's rolled for damage.

Blood Angels Furioso Dreadnought (not sure but for ==>) Extra Armour. Don't care for other weapons since there is no shooting.

My squad came in at 240 points and I killed 44 Marines for a total of: 5.45 points to kill ratio.

I don't think that is getting beaten.

Okay, I say we do this again but with some variance in squads or say we allow a round of shooting before the charge?

Or make the enemy squads tougher and raise our limits on our entries

    Ah.

Well. Thing is the ratios i've calculated are points killed/points cost of unit

I which case, for comparison in the table on page 8, Dooks' ratio is 4.53

Well, I got a ratio of 2.3. Not bad I guess since alot of peples were less than 2 but nothing compared to like 5.something.

As I can do this in dribs and drabs and still get it all together in time, I shall get another one going... I can fit it in quite reasonably atm.

    The Damned Arise
The enemy is a force of Necron Warriors and a Necron Lord.

The Necron Lord carries a Warscythe, holds a Ressurection Orb, Gaze of Flame and has a Lightning Field.
(That means the Necrons around him always get a "We'll be back" roll, he ignores ALL saves in CC, and any wound on the squad cause a single s3 ap- hit in return)

There are 10 Necron Warriors. However, for every Warrior knocked out another takes his place next turn, as well as getting an attempted "We'll Be Back" roll.
(IE if you kill 6 Warriors, 6 more arise, and the 6 fallen Warriors will roll for "We'll be Back")
This means there is no limit to the number of Necrons you could be fighting.

The Necron Lord can NEVER be attacked. But he will attack you.

The Necrons are immune to Morale, you are not.

Whoever kills the most Necron Warriors wins.

You will begin the game 12" from the Necrons, so you may charge them right off the bat.
Alternatively you may choose to stand and slug it out with them at range (in your entry let me know what you would rather do)

    Rules :
    - You may take 1 Unit
    - The Unit MUST be Codex legal
    - You may take only 3 armoury options (Weapons and Psychic Powers are included in this! Unless stated otherwise you are assumed to have a CC Weapon and a Pistol... or equivalent)
    - IC's may take a retinue, however they count as 2 armoury choices.
    - No Point Limitations
    - You may take squad options as normal (they don't count toward armoury selections)
    - No Vehicles
    - No Special Characters

    Race Specific Rules
    - No Chosen

    - Tyranid players may choose just 1 upgrade for squads. However, units that operate in the same fashion as a Character (eg Tyrant, Carni, Broodlord) may take up to 3 (1 if they have a retinue)

Entries Close 12:01 am Monday Morning

Rules are subject to change if and when I see necessary to maintain balance and fun.

I've been folloowing the challanges, but this is the first one that I've gotten to in time to enter. Dont have any of my codexes to hand at the moment (all still in boxes from the move), but off the top of my head I'll take a 20 man Khorne Berzerker squad with Feel no Pain (same as We'll Be Back IIRC) and an Aspiering Champion with the Axe of Khorne (cant remember exactly what it does, but do remember that it's good). Here's hoping they do well. Also, if anyone could fill me in on what the Axe of Khorne does I would appreciate it.

My wifes turn to enter one.

    Our Entry:
10 man Havoc Squad with Mark of Nurgle
5 with Bolters, 4 with Plasmaguns
Aspiring Champion with Pandemic Staff, Daemonic Essense, and Daemon Armor

We will stand back and shoot too avoid the scythe and pray our toughness holds off the gauss onslaught.

Thanks for another great idea for a challenge Moo. Game on!

Alright, I'll try something different this time around:

    Harlequin Troupe:

    - x1 Troupe Master with Power Weapon & Shurkien Pistol
    - x1 Shadowseer with Harlequin Kiss & Shuriken Pistol
    - x8 Harlequins with Harlequin Kisses & Shuriken Pistol

Charge them at the start in my turn, pull out using thier Hit & Run USR in the Necron Assault Phase, re-charge them in my turn. This should get the most out of the Harlequins "Dance of Death" special rule. That make sense?

Hive Tyrant (with 2X scything talons as standard:sam: )
    Toxin sacs

    3X tyrant guard

They ought to do pretty well

    obviously charge 1st turn :omg:

Close to the same as my last one...

19 Plaguemarines (Bolt Pistol & CC Weapon)
    2 Plasma Pistols
    Asp Champ
    Manreaper
    D. Essence
    D. Strength

Can I shoot my pistols and then charge in??
I can think of some entries that would really kick ass from a shooting perspective.
But I want to use variations of my 20 Plaguemarines for all the contests.

    Questions...

If the unit is obviously kicking ass in the shooting do the Necrons ever charge in?

Would a Wraithlord not be completely invulnerable against ALL attacks due to his high toughness. Should it be added to the Vehicles section for this? (Sorry Evil Eye, but thought I should bring this up now to give you time to get a new choice)

Not entirely sure if this is valid or not, but here is my entry:
    Hive Tyrant:
    Lash Whip and bonesword
    Scything Talons
    Ad. Glands (ws)
    Toxic Miasma
Toxin Sacks (my confusion stems from if weapons are wargear for tyranids)

Personally I don't mind a Wraithlord being in there at all. True, only the Necron Lord can wound the Wraithlord in combat, and even then only by rolling a 6 to-wound, but that isn't that bad when you consider other factors. First would be that the Wraithlord does not get its 3+ save against the Lords attacks, and so any wound dealt, is a wound taken, and with only three wounds the Wraithlord really doesn't have any to spare. The next point to consider would be that the Wraithlord can't touch the Necron Lord, and as such can't remove the only thing capable of harming it. Finally, the Wraithlord only has two attacks in its profile, and even with its Wraithsword it's not exactly going to be landing a storm of attacks.

Anyway, that's my take on it, and I certainly don't mind the entry.

ssj4nappa. Feel no Pain is an armoury upgrade.
Thus it cannot be given to your entire squad.

Naj-Zero, That tyrant has too many weapons on it.

Tyrants are assumed to have 2 sets of Talons, thus changinging to
    Lashwhip and Sword = 1
    Glands = 2
    Miasma = 3
    Sacks = 4

Thus you need to drop one.

    Deathwatch Kill-team

Space Marine Librarian W/ Veil of Time, Terminator Armour, comes standard with Force Weapon.
9 Veteran deathwatch marines each with a pair of lightning claws

I do believe it conforms to all of the rules because it isnt a retinue my librarian gets 3 options even though I only took 2.

It is assumed that eevryone will be in CC.
You can hit and be hit by anyone involved.

Blast Weapons will work just like they have in all past Challenges, utilising the old CoD rules.
    Big Blast = 2d6 hits
    Small = d3
    Flamer = d6

20 khorne berserkers with chainaxes and furious charge, and a Champion with bolt pistol, powerfist, rage of khorne and daemonic mutation. CC, obviously.

Just thought of a kick ass unit for this which i don't need my codexes for...

Epistialry (or whatever the better one was) with that really killy power can't remember the name but it sends out a construct and does lots of damage. Fury of the ancients or something and his standard force weapon (not a wargear choice if i remember rightly)

accompaied by 10 terminators with 2 assault cannons.

can they shot for one round then start duffing stuff up with power fists... no we'll be back as double strngth...

  50. #150
Right, so have scrapped the Khorne Berserkers as they are illegal I'll go for a squad of 20 Necron Warriors who will stand and shoot. Have no idea if this will do well, but I'm hoping for good survivability and that 40 gauss shots will do some damage.
