ATT:
From input with a couple of us, we'd like to suggest the following naming guidelines:
Map Threads
Map threads should include a prefix as following:
[New Map] For COMPLETE, PLAYABLE MAPS, ON WHICH NO FURTHER WORK IS GOING TO BE DONE.
[WIP] For work in progress maps, pretty self-explanotory.
Map Files
As suggested by AppleHead, the mapfiles should be named by the following format, to clarify things up. Also MajorZiggy drove a good point about revision numbers, so the format has been changed a little.
F.ex. if your map name is Example 1, and it's a 2 player map, and the first installation, the file should be named
"2p_example1_0.xxx"
and accordingly, a 4 player map named Valley, which is on its 3rd revision, should be named
"4p_Valley_3.xxx"
Again, these are not strict rules until the community approves of them, these are our suggestion for clarification of said instances.
Map Ratings
This is another suggestion im throwing out for the mapping community.
We could start using the "rate thread" function to give scores to maps. After there are a lot of maps, casual viewers (whom are really important to get some maps spread out to the playing community) could easily navigate to the ones with the highest scores.
For clarity, we should use this function ONLY on maps with the [New Map] prefix, as in my opinion we could rate work in progress maps, but i think it would be pretty pointless.
