Official Company of Heroes Map Contest - now with WINNERS

1vs1 maps are much easier/faster to make than such big maps.

...and if you want quality-maps (like relic-maps) then it will cost a lot of time.

great map henery!! only one thing.. one base has +16 M but the other has a +5.... seems a bit unfair...
dammit, missed that, umpf. Anyway, will release an updated version of the map once we get those .sga archives to work correct (atm they don`t seem to be running correctly for online play).

    UPDATE:

Released a new version (sorry), bug is now fixed.

Well, if you want bigger maps why don't you make some yourself?
It's very hard to make a decent looking 1 vs 1.. takes a lot of time, let alone a bigger one.

I'm sure people will make some later. I'm planning on making some sort of night beach assault map over the next two weeks for entry into the 2 vs 2 category. Havn't even thought about the layout or anything yet.. got to wait for exams to finish.

almost done mine guys, unfortunately i hope screen shots dont make up a big part because my computer cant handle high graphics ( and i mean lowest graphics possible )

mine's basically a 1on1 attackers vs defenders, defenders get terrain advantage, plus 2 out of the 3 victory points
attackers get the benefit of resources

That map looks a bit hard to get balanced since one of the victory point actually are inside of one of the player bases... ugh!

well i said a while back (forgot to say it again) that its a defender attackers map,
defenders (axis) get terrain advantage + 2 of the 3 victory points, attackers as you can see get much mroe resources

and basically the victory point inside the guys base is to make it so he owns a point all the time, to basically slow down the countdown, and once he take a point across the bridge then to counter trhe count down

hey can some one try making a map for the battle of BASTOGNE?

here is a link with all the info (i would do it myself but im not good at mapping (yet)
    http://www.trabel.com/bastogne/basto...orbastogne.htm

its a huge city..worth of a good 4v4 player map...or even a 3v3 player map if you shortchange the landscape.

please some one consider making this map please

also there was another great battle. it was the 82nd airborne, 101st, and british parachute regiment. it was operation MARKET GARDEN
    http://www.militaryimages.net/blogs/Bombardier/friends/
here is a link of it that shows several images of the COULD be battlefield. as you can see in IMAGE 3 there this map would consist of 2 shores with 1 (indestructable bridge and 1 destructable bridge)
the one side of the bridge is marked with HEAVY cityscape. while the other side is some what sparse.

and on a smaller not. there was a battle for an airfield in panama. it was called rio hatto. a multiplayer map for taking controle of this key airfield would be quite awesome (a full fledge assault on an air field by an airborne assualt group). it may not be in the same time frame..but would make an excellent map.
here is a map of the airfield

First of all, is Relic going to fix the fact that it appears you have to run a modified shortcut of the game with the -dev suffix in order to play custom maps? Seems a bit ridiculous, to say the least. Also, do these new maps have any music or not?

Can I get an answer from Relic on if these custom maps are going to be able to be played without the -dev prefix of a modified game shortcut? Seems rather silly to have to do this to play a custom map.

hmmm, my overhead map doesn't render correctly in World Builder. In the mapname_mm.tga file splines are rendered in the correct place on the terrain, but texture tiles are drawn in the wrong place. I'll be submitting the map to this comp anyway, but the minimap won't look right at all.

    From the patch notes:

A scenario pack (*.sga file) is an archive that contain all the files needed for a scenario allowing for easy map sharing. To play a new map put the scenario pack in the "$CoHInstallDir\WW2\Scenarios\" or the "My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\Scenarios\" folder.

Now, I've packaged a map up using Archive.exe through World Builder, but whether I put the *.sga (SGA) file under "$CoHInstallDir\WW2\Scenarios\" OR My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\Scenarios\" and start CoH with or without the -dev flag, I cannot see this map in the Skirmish map list.

I can only see the map in the skirmish map list if I put the *.sgb (SGB) file under "$CoHInstallDir\WW2\Scenarios\MP" and start CoH using the -dev option. But then you can't play it online...

    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks.

I got exams coming up so I'll have to let this one slide unfortunately.

Awesome idea, just a pity you can't organise this in the holiday periods as I'm sure most people have more time to slap a quality map together during these holidays.

I'll consider entering my existing map though, and I can try to get my current project ready although thats going to be a close call.

Here's my contribution for the COH mapping contest. It's a 1vs1 map which should rely on use of equal amounts of armor and infantry to win the map.

Download the map directly (in thread at GR.org)

    Thanks,

Put "-dev" at the end of your target field of the shortcut to CoH.exe.

Do you have to have CoH installed in order to use the map builder? Reason I'm asking is because I want to put it on a jump drive and work on the maps in my spare time at work.
