    R the T-Mat gone 4 good???

Will they appear or be mentioned as an extinct race...

    i.e. destroyed by kadeshi...

or remain drawing - board concept never to infringe on HW history...

    Any thoughts, comments appreciated......

    Cheers...

Would be interesting to see them in HW2. Perhaps the concept of the T-mat evolved into the Vaygr or something like that.

I really doubt that the T-Mat will be in, considering that they were completely removed from the HW storyline, never even seen except for their 5 second stint in the last mission. Shame though, they would have been awesome with the new engine. :jaw:

When reading the Homeworld 2 previews, they mensioned something about another race being introduced, besides the Vaygr... I think T-Mat, because I really don't count them as being a part of the original HW, and Relic seemed to like them, but of course was forced to drop them due to technical limitations.

It may seem kind of cheap, but having them show up midway through or near the end of the campaign wouldn't be bad in my opinion. Maybe they're attracted by the sudden interest in hyperspace, maybe they normally hang out in hyperspace. It doesn't matter; I just hope that Relic at least throws the ruins of the mothership as a megalith or something in a nod to the fact that they were at one point planned.

The T-mat were't really in HW orig (well...a ship that was intended to be T-mat showed up as kind of a "placeholder" for lack of any other ship) but they were a race of mysterious evil aliens that were supposed to be a part of the HW storyline... but for several reasons were left out. They were only in the concept art.

I think an appearence of the T-Mat Star shaped mothership maybe as just a little side mission would be cool. I was really dissapointed when I saw the concept art an found out that the ships were actually supposed to be in HW.

Perhaps because mysteriouse evil alien races intent on overthrowing the galaxy are a dime a dozen, and they didn't want to use a tired old cliche. (Re-reads summary of what the Vagyr are) or perhaps not.

I actually headed a mod team for the T Mat, but shortly afterwards mangement in the team got shakey and i quit. Anyways, the ships were all "semi organic looking", in that they were'nt organic, but their shap made them look aquatic. The TMat were Basically Invincible. Extremely high hit points, something like 10 to 1 on a Bentusi ship. And there fighters were like 1 to 1. Extremely versatile and ONLY evil. Thats why they were never entered, yes yes, because of the problem with the ramming of ships between the starships hinges, but anyways, in the team the last mission.... or was it the first... was set with your mothership and the tmat mothership. And everytime you played it you got killed, eventually realizing the only way to win is to ram your mother ship down their mothers ships throat. Ahh memories.

It'd be a funny easter egg. Do the right combination of things on the right mission and the T-MAT swoop in to kick your butt.

    Steppe:

It's in the last mission when the bentusi arrive and summon the Galactic council. When the starship design failed technically in HW, they switched it out for a lava-rock looking ship.

Sid probably means that he saw the .Big file for the frigate.

Technacally, the T-Mat never existed. They were never in the final game. For example, when CNC generals was being developed there were shots of 2 headed-4 armed-sword wielding GLA units.

I think they have improved on the collision thing cos a few ships have moving parts in HW2, like the collector with its arms.

That 2 headed guy should have had 4 legs.
