    BlackLabels PANZER Skinpack VOL.1

    Hi all.

I completed my skinpack with the well know skins for the panzerIV,stugIV,Panther,Tiger,Ostwind and Pumas.

I suggest you people know where those files belong.

    Some Preview :

I leave out the markings on the Pz4,Stug4 and Pumas. Fellow Skinners can implent the numbers and or signs they want. However...i will continue doing skins after a little break and liasion with Supreme Commander BETA and HW2.

hey tankkiller, again these skins WILL be used in my next release, untill then, if blacklabel has correctly set-out the folders all you need to do is put the "vehicles" folder in "data/art/models/races/axis/

Would it be possible to make a skinpak with the same camo? You made a nice pack, but every vehicle have a different skin colors unfortunately.

You realise this skin pack is only for CoH, and it doesn't add content to the OF factions right? So what do you mean update it for the PzIV and Panther to work with OF, whats exactly wrong/not working?

I think he wants textures for the PE Pather and Panzer IV.
Actually, I always had problems with my Panther-Skins fater installing OF - it always used the PE texture, not the normal one. I always also had to change the PE texture to get it working again.
Luckily, you can use the normal Panther texture also for the PE Panther. You just have to rename it and to put it into the right directory.

This skinpack Panther skin has strange teamcolors when used in OF. So I use the default ones. It would be great to have PE Panther and Pz4 to have skins simular to skins in this pack.

So basically you want the Panther and PzIV for Wehr and PE in OF to have their team colours removed? Thats easy enough done. I did that ages ago, i suppose now i have a reason to upload it. I know HT's OF Skins preview pack didn't fix it either.

Edit: Ok, install these however you'd install any other skins. These are just the team colour files for the Panther and PzIV, which i've edited to remove team colours from the vehicles. These should work (i've tested them with HT's Skin packs), but some team colours may show through if your other skin packs don't also remove team colours from the vehicles.

oh, thanks for the intrest guys.

Since i never buyed OF, i had no idea the new skins dident work since they do for me. As for the wehrmacht games i play occasionaly.

As for symbols. Feel free to use my skins if you want to slap some markings on them. No problem. Just keep it authentic and dont slap any whales or unicorns on my Panzers.

Big thanks for your Panzers skins. I'm big fan of your work.
I made my own mod for CoH v1.71 with some tanks from Opposing Fronts. And I did try to make skins for it like yours. My efforts was crushed. I used Photoshop CS. Which program you use? Could you give some links for skinning lessons?

There is some usefull tutorials on the net....mhh lemme see :

    http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/tutorialspshop.asp

    I use photoshop too.

Basicly, learn to play with layers and those light options. Also i use a wide range of black and white photos as reference. Through my skins ( well not all of them, see panzer IV ) might not be totaly realistic but i did many close to reality reskins before and for coh that other path taken worked out pretty well.

Camo can be easyly applied to the PE panzers. Just make a new layer and paint it on. Basicly its alot trial and error. Import your stuff ingame and see how it looks. Just try things out.

In the meantime i focused my gameing intrests on "Red Orchestra - Ostfront". ( btw, highly recomendet online shooter if you are intrested in WW2 shooters a bit away from the mainstream )

Not the place in know, but can anyone recommend any vehicle skinning tuts for Gimp? Infantry skins i can do easily as there aren't those layers over the skin, but vehicle skins are a PITA. I'm making do with DXT/1, but on High Shader settings they result in the Green tank bug (i'm pretty sure).

    Thanks for the information!
Some time ago I played in Unreal Tournament 2004 mod - "Red Orchestra", but in "Red Orchestra - Ostfront" I didn't play yet.
Could you upload archived psd-file (7z or rar or zip) with skin of PanzerIV or Stug - for reference in studying skinning (I want to learn what you did with layers and their modes- opacity, difference and others). By the way, your skins I like more than others that I founded at that forum. And great thanks to you!

First off the skins look awesome, the only thing I miss is numbers and unit insignias.

Second I had a question. I've done skinning for a number of games, (the last being Tribes: Vengeance) so i've worked with alpha layers and also just normal skins in PS. However I have never seen as complex skins as I encounter in the ww2art.sga. When I export as a dds will the skin be workable? In Corsix all I can see is a black and white sort of skin along with all its normal maps, etc. Which skins should I be extracting to work with and as what filetype?

    Hello,

here i uploaded the panther as .psd file.

Just have a look at it. Thats basicly how i started out too. Looking at other peoples work and trying to figure how its done. My knowledge of english is limited so dont expect a full blown tutorial on how to skin.

Also, its been a while i skinned stuff for CoH. All i remember is that i worked my way from the "black" texture because you dont had to clean them from the original camo.

Have a look at this allied "camo" skinpack : here

I couldent find the old thread about it but some pictures might help to explain what i did :

Thats what i used as base.

    Adding dirt here:

*little trick i allways used : use the "destroyed" texture to create a used look.*

Finish. Well basicly, since CoH uses alot of textures for light ( as beatuyfully done by halftracks zimmerit versions of the tanks ) it can be pretty tricky or turns out looking strange on city maps. As i said before..its alot of trial and error, but nevertheless..its addictive as, lets say, painting scale models.

First off the skins look awesome, the only thing I miss is numbers and unit insignias.
You can use my skins and slap insignias of your choice on them. If you "release" them to the public, just mention its origins and iam happy with it. Due to studys my time is pretty limited. Have fun.

Thanks a ton BlackLabel. That was all the info I needed because like I said I have plenty of skinning experience, just not with CoH.

Your work is awesome and if I ever do use your skins as a base I will of course give credit to you.
