    The famous champions of Chaos

I was wondering why certain great champions such as Typhon, Kharn and this Thousand sons sorcerer whom I cant recall, are not Daemon Princes already, it seems that some people have gained their Daemonhood for deeds that are a fraction what these men have done.

Is it by choice or some other reason? I thought that daemonhood is the greatest thing a champion of chaos can get.

Probably. But as far as I know some if not all of the Demon Princes are the primarchs that betrayed the Emperor 10.000 years ago

A Daemon Prince is basically a pawn of the Chaos God they're allied with. Typhus, Kharn, Ahriman -- they're all champions of their respective gods. Much like how Kharn was raised by Khorne to fight again, Khorne wants him to further spill blood, without becoming a puppet -- he wants Kharn to have free will.

Critical damage: left arm, right torso.

They mostly have their own agendas.

You lose a lot of freedom when you become a daemon. You don't become a puppet/mindless but you do have to do only stuff for your God, you find it hard to go in the normal Universe and you're in real trouble if you get banished. Presumably all of them find it easier to do their jobs as they are.

Some of them are using chaos as a route to power and glory. They don't want o be subservient to something which they are using as a means to victory. I think that's what they hint at about Abaddon. He's slain millions of Imperial citizens and warriors, launched 13 assaults from Eye of Terror, yet he doesnt want Daemonhood...

In the rear filled with fear.
    Same reason as Abaddon.

Wasn't there a thread about this a couple of months ago? I can't remember correctly but use the search button and have a look. You should find alot of the answers there.
"Celtic fans right now sit in silence and watch, and hope that the damage doesn't get any worse from this Graham Carey free kick. Away by Wilson. Teale. Still options waiting in the middle for St. Mirren...OH, AND THEY HAVE ANOTHER ONE! It's stunning! It's absolutely stunning at Hampden park! And it's Steven Thompson, who scores his thirteenth goal of the season, and that might just be the goal that takes St. Mirren into the league cup final!" - 27/01/2013

Also, as often said in the fluff. Its Chaos. Its unpredictable und uncertain. Men may praise their gods with every nerve and get ignored while others don't care and still get elevated. The gods are fickle.

As aforementioned, it is derived more from a desire for greater independence than anything else, for the most part. Whilst Daemon Princes are endowed with incredible power and dark knowledge (in addition to effective immortality), they are also regulated in the extents and locations to which they may traverse. As is evidenced by Angron's failed foray to Armageddon, Daemon Princes and other Daemonic Entities require contact and overlap with the immaterium in addition to suitable support and interface to sustain themselves within the general materium. The practical requirements for this mean that those who wish to utilize Daemonkind must additionally retain with them suitable sources of Warp-energy or interface, such as Dark Icons, Worshippers, Tomes, Incantations, etc. that would enable Daemonkind to perpetrate the materium. The more potent the Daemon, the more of the aforementioned is required. And because many of the Chaos Champions are prone to extensive transit and assault beyond the Eye of Terror and other realspace-warp overlaps, Daemonic Ascension would only inhibit. constrain, or burden their journeys and plans, despite the power it would provide them.
