    [WIP] Stalingrad

    Hi,

After playing around with the worldbuilder, i have started making a 2vs2 Stalingrad map.

I am using maps and photographs taken from the battle to try and make it as authentic as possible, and am also working on a skin pack for the russians (to replace the US).

Any hints tips or suggestions you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Screenshots will follow shortly, once i have finished the Tractor Factory part of the map.

Sounds nice but one question are you going to make Moscow, Barborossa, or Leningrad?

I like your enthusiasm but 3 major areas of interest cannot be done. the grain mill, red october, and the docks. also, Germany lacks the air power needed to make that map fun. good luck, would love to see it when you are finished.

Moscow nor Leninggrad was never fought for so that wouldn't be a real option.

Not to mention Barbarossa is the name of the Operation in the East to expand and destroy communism so you can't really base a map on it as it's not a battle :P.

All that's left is Stalinggrad and voila, you could've solved your own question .

Or just look at the topic title :P.

I'm currently working on creating snow for the map, and am looking into creating some katyusha rockets batteries for the allies (similar to the nebelwerfers).
Also when the map is finished it will be very hard to use tanks to get to most areas of the map, so i would suggest using infantry-tactics mod.

I hope to have the map finished in the next week or so, provided i can get the snow done.

Stalinggrad was mainly urban, the axis had surrounded the city during the winter and then paused the offensive, then the axis took it after the winter and then the Russians surrounded them by fall... and by the winter russians had gone in an there were fierce fights in every city block.

Not to mention pretty much the entire city was wrecked and in evere building there was the possibility of an enemy sitting there with a panzerschreck .

Or sniper rifle. I suggest watching Enemy at the Gates or playing COD to see what Stalingrad looks like... aerial photos just don't do it justice.

To give some in-editor suggestions, for Stalingrad, I'd stick primarily to the buildings_industrial tree for constructing the city. Stalingrad was a target not just for its propaganda value, but because the city was essentially an enormous factory for buildings tanks and weapons. The vast majority of the city was comprised of industrial sectors. I think the brick industrial buildings would give the best feel for a Stalingrad sort of setting. Make sure to make them all heavily damaged, of course...

also, stalingrad is leningrad, just a renaming of the city. Are there any pictures of this map yet?

Stalingrad is not Leningrad, Leningrad is St. Petersburg. Stalingrad is the present-day city of Volgograd.

My point is that the city should essentially resemble a giant industrial sector, because, well, that's basically what the city was.
