Once again you seem to have surpassed everyones expectations. Those are some of the best buildings I've seen.

Pretty damn cool... I want a "Loft" apartment in the tier 3 building. How's the rent?

If you can't garrison troops inside, then perhaps some fixed heavy weapons on the building itself, like on the Ork structures? A couple of heavy bolter or multilaser turrets would look cool as hell, AND help defend the base in the early stages (you mentioned earlier that the "Titan" races would be succeptable to early-rush attacks).

One thing I'm toying with is rather than having fixed turrets, having mobile tarantula units that deploy and undeploy a bit like IG hwt's.

I do like the idea of multilasers rather than hb turrets though...

    Huzzah for mobile turrets!

It may be a bit early and I'm singelminded but would you possibly share some of your plans for the Chaos Titan faction? What sort of units will they contain? Will the adepts of the Dark Mechanicus be making an appearance? Perhaps some traitor Skitarii?

I think it'll probably end up a very close parallel to the imperial legion (for chaos undivided) with older, more gothic styled buildings. The loyalist scutarii will be replaced with renegades, using more heavily modified IG.

It'd be nice to have time to do a version for each chaos power, but I think I'll leave that to someone else.

    Thought I'd post some progress.

I've pretty much finished with the tier 1 building. I'm probably going to add another crate type (lighter or team colourable for contrast) to fill the model out a bit. It'll be fairly fx heavy (steam pouring out of the vents on the pad, flashing lights, lit lamposts) but it'll look ace.

The light grey support struts will be toned down to the usual dark grey metallic. The light panels on the pad corners and beacon tower will be team coloured, as will the railings. The mid grey will be the same plascrete grey as the titan bay (ie a bit lighter than it looks here).

    Anyway, pics:

Very nice, Winterdyne. I second Geo about the change of looks. The space is also very well used. All in all, good job again mate

So I guess you'll like the weathering (not finished). I did add that new crate type (and its also being used to fill the space opposite the lectern on the assembly bay now).

I know squat 'bout modding, BTW- Just a huge fan of 40K TT and DoW. I do a hell of a lot of custom work to my TT models, so I appreciate what you do to the DoW ones. It's sort of the same thing, I think

That being said, I have a suggestion (again) for the Skitaari soldiers. The IG techpriest looks just like a Skit', if he had a lasgun or plasma rifle instead of the laspistol and axe/wrench/screwdriver thing. How hard would it be to change the model? If so, could the altered model then be exchanged for the standard guardsman model?

    @The_Red_ork:

I'm not fond of the uber-teched guard / skitarii. Originally (in adeptus titanicus etc) the Titan Legions' auxilliaries were slightly-better-equipped-than-standard IG regiments. The spelling was also different (and I'm using the previous spelling to differentiate the concept).

If someone else wants to do an adeptus mechanicus mod with skitarii cyborgs in it, they can. Me, I prefer a more low-tech IG backbone to keep the focus on the titans.

The techpriest units I have planned should be interesting though. They'll basically fill the role of heavy infantry and builders as well as (to some extent) close combat, depending on the mix of servitors they're assigned.

Lol... you know you'd be exposed sooner or later!

Anyway, I'm definitely up for helping out with modelling, if you can cope with my occasional absences for pesky things like Real Work (tm).

Edit: As long as you include the legio cybernetica. I'd really like to rework some of the old robot designs.

    Mr. Bubbles...?

My first self-authored project after teaching myself 3dsMax (modelling and some limited animation is done, with a pile of successful vid-tutorial projects under my belt, currently up to texturing) is going to be a Crusader, Cataphract or Castellan or one of the Imperial Knights.

Quite frankly, the Colossus and Conqueror are the only one worth of interest IMO.

I've always liked the Cataphract - slow speed, very heavy armour. This is typically a terror troop equipped primarily for anti-infantry with some kind of long range anti tank weapon to counter armour sent against it. When I used 'em they took ages to get anywhere, but they killed everything in the way! I seem to remember my mate massing lascannons in every piece of cover to counter them (leaving my rhinos free to scurry about).

Agreed! The same's true for all of them though - that's why I said the designs need reworking. If you've got 'The Gothic and the Eldritch' it's got some sketches Jes Goodwin did to redesign the robots. Interesting stuff.

I like the idea of the Legio Cybernetica skirting perilously close to the anti-abominable intelligence edicts laid down in Adeptus Mechanicus creed; incorporating the absolute barest amount of organic components to get 'round the strictures. Like maybe a chunk of leftover brain in a jar of goop and electrodes wonkily gaffer taped to the back of a leg.

I've not seen the robot redesigns. What did they look like?

I don't know if I'll finish the tier 1 building before I go on holiday - so here's a work in progress for now, and a style comparison with the titan bay:

Yes, there will be animations of titans being built. These will have a certain amount of unavoidable 'popping' to them, but should look good.

I'm going to keep these images updated (ie they're externally hosted and will always be the 'current' look of the models). I'll also add them to the first post. So this format will be the current information on models I've done.

    Warhound Showcase

    Walk Cycle (DivX codec required)
    Idle_3 (DivX codec required)

Reaver Titan (7287 tris as shown, 3 512 textures including all weapons)

    Reaver Showcase

Battle Titan Assembly Bay (2666 tris, 2 512 textures, 1 256 texture (shared))

    Battle Titan Bay Showcase

    HQ Building (Tier 1 version) (4173 tris, 2 512 textures(shared for HQs), 1 256 texture (shared))

Looks awesome, I see you've finished the texture on the back pylon as well.

Btw I couldn't help but notice that shin mentioned sending his revenant and phantom titans to you in the second post. Did you get them and do you have any screenshots?

No, I haven't requested them yet, but yeah they were offered. Not sure if they've been textured yet.

I did finish the tier 1 building after all. Had a look at tier 2/3 but think I might remodel the pad after all. Will fiddle with it some more after holidays!

Nice! very cool lookin showcase, i checked out the animations, amazing!, i had to put the walk into my video editor, and take that clip and put it in there like 15 times to watch it for a little while, but it was amazing same with the idle one.

What animations? Are you working OE for winterdyne or something?

    Scrap that, found it.

I love the idle, but i'm not keen on the run cycle. I know run cycles are the most difficult, although I prefer them personally, but at the moment he looks like he's walkin like john wayne.

I suspected them to run more.....this will sound weird but, bird like. It is after all a reverse jointed piece of machinery.

Are you using CAT for the run cycles and do you use IK?
