Ouch.
Just a quick question: Are you saying that the game cannot be patched and played on XP home?
If so, I'll be passing on it. Dang.

No...you can play the game just fine in Windows XP. If you have any problems patching, just post here and somebody will help you.
Remember, the v1.1 patch for IC does "seem to freeze" at 27%...but it hasn't really frozen...just be patient with it. Hopefully, this jewel case release already includes the v1.1 patch and Insect Invasion v1.4, but I have no idea if it will.
The IC 1.1.
Ihave got WinXP Home e.
I'm installing the patch, and then complete, the game is not running.
so what is this for, like dawn of war tyranids or what?
lol...dude this is for Impossible Creatures. It's a totally different game that Relic made in 2003...well before the public knew that Dawn of War was under production.
I have xp, and I'm tring to install thepatch for impossible creatures. It installs fine, but when I try to run the game it gives me this error, The procedure entry point ?GetName@Player@@QBEPBGXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library simengine.dll.
I've tried the suggested fixes thathave been posted, but have still had no luck.

Sollution: Had to d a search in google for a no cd patch as 1.1...
well now it works and there is no cd spinning noises.
Really sad tht such a cool comany cannot patch their own patches!!!

Well that right there has gotta be some majorbecause supposedly, XP already ships with the correct Windows Installer.right there because im on XP Pro and i cant even START the installer because apparently Windows Installer isnt installed properly. Either that or im in safe mode. But im not in safe mode.
How bout this guys.. make an .exe patch.. not an .msi patch. maybe it'd work better.

Emandion:
They won't be making any new patches.
If you want to get it to work, sort out windows installer on your machine (search microsoft.com for a download of it).
i shouldnt need to download anything. Ive never had windows installer problems before. Ever.
quite frankly, this is dissapointing. i'd expect patches for games made alongside microsoft to be fully compatable.
i instaled the game and the patch no problem.
now when i try to load the game it get an error when its loading something .. small window says -> Pleas wait...
and then it crash.. anyone have a sugestion to fix that ?
tired already with a no-CD and didnt worked
... ah one thing.. the game runs OK with out the patch.![]()
Hi everyone, I just installed the patch for IC, v1.1 and then installed the Insect Invasion Add on/Mod. Well, actually i ve done this 3 times. Every time i try to load up the game this appears on my screen:
It says this: the procedure entry point?GetName@Player@@QBEPBGXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library simengine.dll
By the way i am playing on a proper game not some copy.
Anyone Know How I Could Get It To Work ?
#66
Which Version did you patch?
Does it error before or after you apply the Insect Invasion add on?
Well, I'm having near enough the same problem as everybody else - I install the game and the game runs perfectly. No errors. Then when i patch it with version 1.1 and then install the Insect Invasion Add on/Mod/Expansion it gets the message which i mentioned earlier - point?GetName@Player@@QBEPBGXZ
#68
After you install the 1.1 patch, did you try playing then? Did you get the error at that point?
What I did was install the 1.1, and then install Insect Invasion straight after. Maybe i should install 1.1, test it and THEN Install Insect Invasion ?
###EDIT###
I tried to patch it and then test it out.The thing about player name pops up every time i patch the gameAnyone know what the problem is ? I can do anything to it but i can't patch it, SO i can't play Insect Invasion which i want so badly....MUST GET IT WORKING!

The version you bought, where'd you get it from? Who published it, Atari or Microsoft?
Not sure where I got it from because i got it for my birthday. As for the version and the publisher, I m not sure what versions there are as i havent patched it once. The publisher is Microsoft. I emailed their professional support last night for assistance but no reply yet.

What does it say on the box? Microsoft or Atari?
Can you post your dxdiag.txt file please?
It says on the box Microsoft and how do i post a dxdiag.txt ? where is it ?
I have a legal copy (microsoft), game works fine before the patch. after patch installed I get the same problems as silverstone. The entire computer has all of its drivers updated and is tip top. what do I do?
Is there a version of the first insect invasion out there anywhere that will work without the patch?
#75
coh will show you how to get a dxdiag.txt file.
There's no version of the product, that I'm aware, that will work without 1.1 being installed.
As the game is a microsoft product, you'll need to contact Microsoft's support for help installing the patch if you can't get help from the users of this forum.
im having the ?GetName@Player@@ problem.please someone tel me how to solve it.it says it after the 1.1 patch and after the Insect Invasion patch.I reinstaled it many times but nothing.PLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZ SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi,
i had also the GetName@Player@@... problem,
and after i done that it worked:
ic install
create user, play a game against the pc ( or just start it for a few seconds)
download 1.1 patch, and extract it somewhere,
then restart to safe mode and run the extracted patch - exe ( not the msi package...)
it should take 5-10 minutes, just let it run.
restart , find a nocd crack ( I have my game bought, but i guess this is the only way to make the game running !)
copy the nocd to your ic directory and replace the original( or you can rename it)
try to run the game, it should run
then you can install the insect invasion,
i tested it on my german installation,
....it is not possible to get any support from microsoft![]()
my game is now ok and you can load insect invasion from the mod selection menu in ic
hope it helps
Hello,
any time I try to install the patch, I get this rather obscure error.
Yesterday I even tried in in save more, and I had it again.
Not even the cheap budget-version of the "Green Pepper" label is patched - normally I'd say that it would be polite to deliver budget-versions of games fully patched, but seemingly Microsoft doesn't want so - the budget-versions of ANY Microsoft games aren't patched, as far as I know. Of Zoo Tycoon, even only the very, very first version is sold, no enhancements, no add-ons, nothing.
My question is now, is it possible to *manually* patch the game - extract the files somehow and copy them over the old files ?
Or is there patching done "within" the old files that prevents this way ?
Plus: Some of the links in the "I. Creatures" news section aren't working anymore - like the ink to the Insect Invasion 1.04 patch.
Could somebody please check these links ? They aren't too many nowadays.
Hey Dudes! I wonder if u can help me. I recently download the FXMOD 1.85 but i keep getting the error: 'This application has failed to start because gslobby.dll was not found.' Any suggestions? I think i may have extracted it to the wrong file. Any help would be much appriciated! Thanks
I'm seriously getting frustrated with the 1.1 patch for Impossible Creatures. When I try to load the game with the nocd patch, a little window pops up saying "Please wait". A minute later, it crashes and a warning file has this to say:

I have already tried reinstalling both the patch and the game several times. What can I do to solve this problem?
I get an apparently common error when I try to run the .msi patch file on Vista. I have not found a working solution, and I thought there would be no better place to ask than here.
Is there a way I can run it in a compatibility mode or something?
I want to play Insect Invasion...
I'm trying to download the 1.1 patch. I run the installer package. After I allow the user access control, it says "Please wait while windows configures Impossible Creatures 1.0.1" The bar loads to 99% (though no number is shown, the bar looks all but a pixel full). Then, it says, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
My computer uses Windows Vista Home Premium. My hardware should be more than good enough for this stuff. I've tried "safe mode" installing, etc..
That would be the same problem I am getting.

The patch does install in Vista... make sure you've not installed a no-cd patch or anything along those lines. The patch does take a LONG time to install.
I have Vista and had the same error message with Windows Installer. I resolved it by disabling the 'User Access Control' before running the patch. Here how:-
1. Click 'Control Panel'
2. Click 'User Accounts'
3. Go to 'Make changes to your user account' and untick the control box.
4. click ok
5. You should then be prompted to 'restart now'.
6. Restart the computer and run the patch. The patch does stop for a time around the 27% but will carry on.
7. After installation you can enable 'User Access Control' through the same process.
Prior to this I tried to 'Run as Administrator' option but still came up with the same error message.
I hope this helps!
Yeah,i tryed that bu i get the message"The procedure entry point?GetName@Player@@QBEPGXZ could no be located i the dynamic link library simengine.dll.
So what do i do now!??????????? Please help , i really love playing this game!!!
The error message I always received referred to the Windows Installer package, I had never received the error message you receive.
I downloaded the patch and saved it first, then I disabled my anti-virus software and vista's 'User Access Control' before running the patch which installed without any errors. I then enabled my anti-virus software and 'User Access Control' and then restarted my computer. Once restarted I loaded IC which loaded correctly and without errors.
Ok, for those of you who had the IC problems with Insect Invasion, and patch 1.1 installation.
To install patch on win Visat, or 7 beta, you have to go on the patch proporties. Then you selesct the compatibility tab, select the checkbox "run this program in compatibility for:" and chose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)"...
The patch shoud install normaly then (stops on 27% abaout few minutes, but it is normal). It takes about 5, 6 minutes.
Now you install Insect invasion...
Then most of you will get that message, about some dll, I dont remember the whole message... Just download nocd crack, you should find it easy, the 1.1 version, even if you have legal copy (I have legal too), copy it to same folder where ic.exe is located, and it should work... no safe mode, no complications...
It worked for me, on 7 beta, vista, and xp...
Hope it halpes![]()

I have a problem,
When i use the no-cd patch i get this error: The procedure entry point ??0FilePathLogger@@QAE!XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library util.dll
What is wrong?
P.S: There is no compatability tab under the patch's properties
Well it wants to play, but it seem to stop for me an it says "please wait" then it boots me off...
Do you Remember Love?
Install the patch by right clicking it and use compatibility mode set as windows 98. Don't forget to apply the change. This worked when I tried with Windows 7. Should work the same in XP and Vista
