    {WIP} Around Holland (4)

    This map is based around a Holland style battlefield. The map is kind of small but thats what makes the battles extremely intense. This map is extremely unbalanced giving the axis a major advantage. But hey, if I play me and a hard ally vs 2 hard axis and win, then you can too. the layout of this map limits a lot of things for example: there is one road leading up the middle of the map that the allies must go through before going into the rest of the map. This is a great map for hectic, intense battles. I am aware of a few things i need to fix and im getting on those asap. But please comment and enjoy. Again this is a {wip}

http://hosted.filefront.com/codawg235/ --- around hollond 2 file. its brand new. many fixes enjoy :!

http://gallery.filefront.com/codawg235/ some screens. i realize there not great but they should do for now.

ps. for anyone who has played my road to monte cassino map. this map is taken from that one because it didnt look like monte cassino at all so yes its very similar but its very fun i must say.

EDIT: The link above is updated so download the new fixed up version.
    - more detail and various fixes fixed

I'll give it a whirl as Allies. I usually play as Axis, but the challenge is so tempting.

Well, I gave it a go. I played as the Americans versus two Normal Axis AI. It was indeed a challenge for the first 15-20 minutes; there was even a point where they had Pumas and Panzer IVs when I had no AT capabilities aside from two bazooka and four mortar squads. That was the most challenging aspect of the battle. I was able to halt their offensive by building two Howitzers and bombarding their mains.

Now, as for the things I noticed:

    1. The Allies southeastern ammunition point; I was unable to build an OP on it. My engineers would go right up to it, but they failed to actually build anything.

    2. I understand that this map was intended to feel cramped, but there are lots of spots where it's very difficult to land paratroopers. I'm not really sure if this is a good or bad thing (it is realistic though, so I kinda liked it), but I just thought you should know.

    3. I really enjoyed the scenery and buildings, it's very well done! And, thankfully, the detail put into this map didn't effect its playability, thus meaning little or no slowdowns. I especially like the building with the red light just across the river from the Allied HQ. Also, the church near that middle ammunition point is nice.

My only major recommendation is to create more open land between the river and the Axis HQs. And when I say open, I mean rolling plains and the like; you obviously touched upon that style of terrain, I think you just need more of it.

Anyway, I don't give map feedback often, so other players or mapmakers might disagree with the points I've made. Oh, and I played the map using the latest Enhanced Combat mod.

yes im aware of that muntions point. quite fusteratting:/
and yes im trying to smooth out the terrain without getting rid of hilly point. but yes its funny because that red light is actualy a flare that i accidently put and there were so many features there that i couldnt jsut select it so i left it. but yes i think its pretty funny how stugs starting rolling into your base and you cant do anything about it except for the 88's placed so they can shoot up the road. but thanks for the comment. finally someoen did

EDIT: can you explain what you mean by the paratrooper problem ? and where?

All over the map. For example, the fuel point in the center of the map, just north of the river; you can't drop paratroopers on most of the terrain there. Can you confirm it so I know it isn't mod-related?

hm i didnt really see many places where they coudlnt go im not sure though i dont think it would be the mod ?

Well i played it it looks really nice (much detail) but the gameplay isnt really running smooth.

The allies get a flak 88 and a flak vierling at the start and the main (and only) road from the allied base has to manny obstacles to even run a jeep trough. The rest of tha map is ok just that one road thats bugged.

I really liked the axis body burning pit! :P.

P.S. The allied engeneers spawn in a ditch where they cant get out.

Oh yeah, that also happened to me. The engineers that the Americans start with get suck in that crater in front of the HQ.

yes i know about this and if you download the new version thats up it fixes many things including the engineers but could you take screens to show me what you mean by the road problem ?

btw the link above leads you to the new version you just need to download the file that says around hollond 2
