    [Final] Omaha Beach 2vs2 "remake" of BF1942 Map

    (This is an updated version of Final that was added 1/30/2007 8:50 PM GMT-6. Added background music and a few additional visuals.)

    This is a 2vs2 very large map of the battle of Omaha Beach, the inspiration from the map of the same name in Battlefield 1942 (Dice/EA Games). Having been a favorite BF1942 map, I have reinvented it for CoH with expanded terrain, especially the beach area.

    Control Points:

    6 Fuel Points
    6 Munitions Points
    3 Manpower Points
    5 Victory Points

    The map is available is SGB form, either in a RAR or an EXE installer. The RAR is smaller, but the EXE is recommended for those who have not previously played custom SGB type maps, or anyone who doesn't want to bother setting up the locations. There are no viruses in the EXE if you get it from this link.

    Download RAR Archive from FileFront{7.79 MB}

    Download EXE Installer Package from FileFront {9.42 MB}

    I also have a night version of this map.

    The server we're downloading from seems to be very slow. Could you perhaps upload the files to FileFront or something?

    It says 25 mins here

    But uploading it on CoHFiles or something will have to be validated... so go with something free and no waiting to download

    Yeah, sorry guys, it's straight off my home server and I have the crappiest ISP in the free world. I'm putting it on FileFront... Look for the new links.

    thank you so much for making an installer. im gonna grab the exe version and hope all goes well.

    played it, I was having a lot of fun then the game crashed when I was about to take out the enemy. I was playing anil. ive never had the game crash on me.

    I dont know what else to say. it seemed to me that everything was placed well. i just wish i knew why it crashed

    i would say i was 45 minutes into the game. btw i was playign skirmish 2vs 2. my allies were acting strange, they would come over to my base and just hang around, the engies mostly.

    I don't know, I've never had it crash, or any map for that matter. I played it with two other humans in a game that must have lasted 2 hours and we had no problem. Make sure your video card isn't overheating.

One thing I noticed, no ambiance music. was very quiet indeed How do *you* feel as a builder about the map? Are you happy with the results? If you were to change anything what would that/it be?

    Nice card. I have the BFG 7800 GS OC in one system and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro in another.

    Has anyone been able to put ambient music in a custom map?

    If you liked it, check out the new "Omaha Beach - Night Moves".

    To add music to your map:

    open "scenario properties" add SOUND/MUSIC/GENERICMISSIONMUSIC.BSC
    into the "music" field and save.

    It has been just two days since I released the finalized (with music) versions of this map along with the night version "Omaha Beach - Night Moves". I am happy with the download count, as both together have tallied nearly 300 downloads from FileFront. I would be happy to see some reviews on them if you'd be so inclined.

    I'll download it now and give ya feedback once I get around to playing it. I've been pretty busy these past few days and haven't had a chance to play any CH at all.

    nice work... appreciate your efforts. My one gripe would be that I wish the AI was little more aggressive but good all the same.

    Thanks.

    I have no idea how to control the AI. I haven't been mapping CoH that long. This is my second real map.

    Make sure you put the -dev handle in your game shortcut. And if the exe version didn't work, download the rar and extract the files to the mp folder.

    The EXE version definately works; I've tested them thoroughly. I'm not sure how my maps work in 1.5 because my CoH will not run since I patched it. Guess I'll need to reinstall.
