    [MOD]1st Company Space Marines

    The Forums Of 1st Company Space Marines Mod(you Must Become A member of the Forums to post)


    The aim of this MOD is to make a 1st Company Space marines Army

    Here are the Original Changes that I wish to do

    Building Changes




    • The Hq is changed
    • The Chapel-Barracks can be upgraded to a Chapel Mansion Barracks
    • Make The Turrets diffrent and Shoot Plasma Projectiles
    • The Machine cult can be Upgraded to a Building Version
    • The Orbital Relay can hold more Squads
    Tec And Weapon changes
    • Just New weapon look
    Unit Changes
    • Each Squad hase A Random Shoulder Pad
    • Each Squad hase On there random shoulder pad 2 Ribbons
    • Each Squad hase there other shoulder is a bit Larger and GOLD and it also Glows GOLD
    • Each Squad hase more Attack power,Hit Points,Jet fuel,Heavy weapons upgrades and For some Squad size
    • Each Commanding Unit hase a Helmet
    • Scouts have a Commander
    • Scouts Snipers shoot Faster
    • Normal Termanators Can Get A Squad Leader
    • Assult Termanators Can get a Commander
    • Assult Terminators Can Have more Heavy weapons

    Love the idea of a first company of marines but just some questions of about the weapons. Plasma bolters so it be a combo bolter with a plasma gun on the bottom. And for the heavy plasma bolters why not just make plasma cannons ? just ideas but other then that I wish you luck on your project and can't wait to see it.

    Ok, I'll bite...

    To my knowledge each Chapter has a number of Company; For example the Blood Angels 1st - 10th Companies...

    Is this Mod aligned to any Chapter or simply generic marines?

    I also have the same question about "Plasma bolters" do you mean Combi weapons as in a plasma gun and Bolt gun combination weapon?

    How will this affect your other Mod in progress?

    Have you aproached any other Mod teams for advice or assistance about modelling, coding etc. ?

    It was my belief that 1st companies are made up only of veterans, terminators and commanders and the like. There would probably be a set number of Venerable dreads for the 1st Co. to call upon, along with any other vehicles they may need. TBH, vehicles arent an issue for any specific company, since they come directly from the chapter's armoury and are not specifically aligned to any of the 10 companies.

    I have an idea. Why can't the Tactical Marines in the 1st Company have Orbital Bombardment-Bolters? Like, Orbital Bombardment, just it fires from a Bolter with rapid-fire. Cool, huh?

    Hmmmmm....

    Well...good luck, lots of hours ahead of you...not really seeing the fluffyness of a lot of your plans here, and there will need to be a lot of new art content to tempt me to a simply "stronger" space marine mod...

    But I know How to model now
    Ummmm...I would like to see some of your work, any WIP screenies? (I also now know how to model, after 3yrs!!!)


    And Kresjah, great idea...hehehee...makes for very very quick games!

    Isn't that just essentially a plasma rifle?

    Plasma Bolters???
    You can either have plasma guns, or combi Plasma/bolters which fire plasma and bolter fire at once.
    Heavy plasma bolters..... well, you can get the plasma cannon " Firing low power shots" which means it fires much more faster and less destructive. But its agaisnt fluff and weapon system descriptions. But maybe a TAu weapons....

    Well good luck anyway, but I think that every mod must be based on background...or at least it shouldnt affect background much . Such as dwarves(squats I know!) and marine girls and returned Primarchs.....which are just highly unlikely, but weapons are just , they are much more rigid. IF you want create new weapons like "Combi melta/plasma gun" , but dont change old ones like plasma guns .
    But the variant shoulders sounds cool!

    There are no shortcuts in moddelling, its taken me three years to gain competancy with 3DS Max & OE, and i am still learning today, now I feel confident enough to say I can model...but I still rely on talented community & team members for work & support

    I hope you know what you are getting into...

    God you are really good and also make necrons fly and orks jump and eldar Bombard teleport and the gardsmen Have infin hp and the tau have Super str

    If you want to remain true to background give your marines grenade launchers,autocannons, psycannons and inferno pistols.Give all a power weapon, and they will be godly without plasma or orbital bolters hehe.

    I am still awaiting your answers to the modelling questions...what level of experiance do you have with 3DS & OE?

    There are teams out there who could do with experianced modellers...

    With a good set of art content you will find it easier to tempt people into a team...so lets see some WIP...

    I got a idear for my own mod
    Make it so that each race buildings and units have 99999 hp and 99999 damage and have the hq 99999999999999999999999999hp that will remove all the fluff (or what ever you call it)

    And none really with oe and wtf is 3DS?????????????????

    I would Like some help in how to start new models and open old models

    Sorry dude, but i must back Delta's question, in a way: how can you not know 3DS (aka MAX) if you can model??? I know it's not the only 3D app around but still... To draw teammates you gotta precise what skills you have and what skills you really need others to bring.
    As for the changes you propose, what effect will they bring to the game? What will change (apart from model) from the regular SM tree? Have you written down ideas and developped them further than 'I got an idear'? I mean no offense but so far you haven't really explained what this mod will offer/change in game terms...
    I think that were you much clearer people might be much more interested and you may draw skilled persons to your mod.

    No offence, no offence but everything you have done so far is complaining, yoking, and turning down the guys entusiasm. If he want's to make a mod it's ok to me, and what HE want's to put in it it's HIS buisness. Now maybe you haven't noticed but many people use Maya, or other 3D modelling stuff, so he may not know 3DS MAX (which is expensive too). Unfortunetly Warren5251 3DS is I'm afriad the only tool capable of reading, and writing the nessecery models into a state when DoW recosnise it. I don't mod myself, but a little time backwards I was trying to do something myslef via a 3DS 30 day trial. Back then I was using Brothers Santos Tools (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=76791) to get out and get in the models, not pretty sure if modders still use it though. And that plasma bolter stuff... well in the codex allready say's that both the bolter, and the plasma gun have rapid fire, so I don't understand what's the problem. Anyway making the plasma gun fire weaker, but more rapid is not a bad thing. Now making a 1st company should not be a very big problem. You could ask the C2C team for the CC veterav marines, and try do modifie them so they will use bolter too, or take some part and import them to a standard marinr (altough I think bouth need new animations to be done). Anyway good luck, you don't have to do everything as said in the fluff, or in the codex, renember that DoW itself is defying it in many ways.

    Hey I get where you are coming from, but I take offence to someone blatantly stating "I know how to model" when they most obviously do not, not only is it misleading to possible team members but its a big slap in the face of people who commit years to actually teaching themselves exactly how to model using the appropriate tool...

    And hey if you know/heard about Maya, Gmax & Lightwave etc. then you know/heard about Max

    But, not knowing what fluff is....heresy!!!!

    Ive been watching this thread for around a while now , and first off i would be the first person to encourage someone to get involved in modding if that was their wish , i would suggest getting involved with an established mod first to learn the ropes instead of jumping straight in with their own mod but i guess we must all start somewhere,i just have a few suggestions and observations

    @warren5251

    So as a modder reading this thread requesting help what would make me want to get involved with this mod , first off when starting a mod you must have a clear goal , and to be honest that is set out fairly well, i can gather you want to create a first company mod .But you didnt outline a few major points that will let people know what you intend this mod to be.

    Is this for any particular chapter or just generic space marines, will this replace vanilla sm or be a seperate race altogether?

    You have listed fairly well the changes you want to make , but when making changes like these you need to be careful to stay within the fluff , despite some people saying you dont have to stay within the fluff i would suggest doing so if you wish to gain help from experienced modders as most are keen 40k fans , i would not get involved in any mod that strayed far from the fluff and im sure most other modders are the same.An example of straying from the fluff most certainly is bolters firing plasma bolts,bolters cannot fire plasma projectiles just as lascannons cannot fire autocannon shells.

    Now on the other side of selling your mod you need to clearly outline what part or role you will play within the mod , now you say you can model that may well be true im not disputing that an idea would have been to make a model that you will include in the mod and post it in the first post that way others can guage your modelling experience and possibly see what visual theme you want to take your mod in , letting others know you will be doing a lot of the work yourself is very important , no experienced people involved in modding want to get involved in a mod where they end up doing the brunt of the work taking direction from an ideas guy , there are plenty of those about,add to that all modders will have their own ideas.

    So i think you have a pretty decent idea here for a mod , you just need to pitch it better , because at the minute this thread sounds like an mod idea/request thread , and to my knowledge none of these threads ever get off the ground as no one will spend their own time making a personal mod for someone else.

    So good luck with your mod i hope it works out for you.

    I have a couple of suggestions for him if he wants this too take off:

    1) Show some progression make a tech tree. Learn a skill yourself start off with mapping if you can't model.

    2) Don't bad mouth people because they don't think the mod sounds like it will take off. Its there opinion. Why not prove them wrong and make it awesome.

    3) I've told you this once or twice already type properly. In full. I think you may be a fluent english speaker that just chooses to abbreviate everything. Which leads me to my next point.

    4) If someone makes a serious suggestion or gives advice don't ignore it they probably know what there talkin about.

    Ok and by the way Making wach unit have 9999hp and 9999 Damage is like making it 1 hp and 1 damage still 1 shoot kill

    did you not see that??????

    EDIT: WTF 3DSMAX IS like 500MBs *Gasp* And it is like going to take 3 HR that is Bad
