wat good is the new patch if u cant even play a game
Looks all sorted to me now happy days , maybe all the crying helped " delayed Borat pause " NOT ......
When I read the first change, with the colliappe, I did a double takeI was like, "Wow! They're really not afraid to make big changes!" As I continued I was glad with what I was seeing. I'd say this is worth reintalling CoH for.
I have not had a chance to play but everything I have read in the changelog I like. I'm eager to try the StuH '42. I hope it really nukes those infantry.
(Have you ever said StuH '42 outloud? it rhymes and is so fun to say. StuH '42!)
ok back to![]()
This is Smurfing.
For those of ppl who doesn't know me, I play both allied and axis.
I can see this patch is trying to help out under used units and nerf what allies were strong at. As mentioned before, the key of allies were bar and sherman. Without bar, many many set ups would break apart and become useless, slightest change to bar does indeed affect allies alot.
I am kinda worry about allies now, because you can't protect ATs with bar now, so many things can break thru. I guess that's why they increase dmg of bar.
For sherman, it's now not solo units like before. The patch is actually very good, and carefully tested.
I can now see Axis Def with T1 and T2 owns so much now if allies don't spam mortar.Think about 88 with mp40 and grenediers and bunker and FTFL. This setup can really own.
The buffed BAR b/c they cut out one BAR on a party member so they could pick up a Zook, Panzerfaust, etc... so they raised the dmg by 40% to compensate.
Saw a forum thread on AWM here http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...=137488&page=3.
I think AWM will be interesting to look at. Without Barrage to spend mun on, and AWM obviously being superior to crew repairs when you want to make a big push against a strong enemy force, long drawn out games against armour coy will be...interesting.
Just read neckbreaker's post. Apparently 3v3 axis with full map control and constantly killing HQs lost to Pershing + Calliope + AWM spam. And apparently no infantry used on the allied side as well, just raid capping. Not much combined arms there.
Like I complained about earlier, the new allied war machine ability is completely overpowered (lowered cp cost, much earlier to get, no munitions spent on calliope barrage). Dare I say that it is even more overpowered than the 57mm!!
Not really a bug or anything, but i would like to see the ability to deselect units/buildings/objects in COH, it's quiet annoying that this isn't in the game already.
disable sticky selection in options![]()
That would ruin the game, referring to Axis and Allies,... it is kinda noobish, people making those pathetic settings.Originally Posted by FsG4hjF

^^ Say what? Pathetic settings if someone prefers to be able to deselect units? I suppose inverting the mouse in a FPS is also considered pathetic? And what the hell does it have to do with game balance???
A lot of people are complaining... But I think the complaints are good, it helps the community to have people speak up about their opinions.
Overall though, this game is really balanced. There are obvious problems still, but nothing large enough that you can't counter. The game feels really new, which is always nice. Anyway, I am quite content. Hope the next patch does even better.
Hello all.
I haven't had any problems with patch 1.5; all is working well - thank you.
However, out of curiousity, is there a reason why you can't delete sandbags and tank traps?
Yep. People exploited it by waiting for someone to attack fortifications, kill their units, then delete them and attack. Now you actually have to get by your own defenses.Originally Posted by midfingr
I have now played enough games with the new patch as Airborne and Blitz to understand how the patch has changed the way I play when using these two doctrines.
Allied / Airborne:
I now start with WSC more times than with Barracks. I may add barracks later in the mid game, but I now basically use paratroopers in the early game, rather than rifleman. This is because there are more axis infantry on the field, and WSC + paratroopers gives you more tactical options for dealing with those axis Tier 1 and 2 units, than does barracks alone. The airborne AT drop and upgraded paratroopers still provide an effective method for dealing with Axis AC and Tanks. Mortars and snipers now seem to have a more pivotal role in the early game, and the Croc has now become a priority build option, given the increased number of axis infantry wandering around the map.
Axis / Blitz:
I now build and use a lot of Tier 2 units whereas before I would not, as these now create a cost effective way of dealing with allied AC, Tanks, and infantry. The Axis AT gun, when combined with upgraded storm and grenadier provide all the AC/Tank killing power you could want early to mid game. However, I do now prepare myself much more for the allies attacking me with croc, so I tend to go a bit over the top with AT weaponry mid game.
Axis + Allies = Tanks are now very much a late game unit, rather than a mid game unit, and arty is much more important to the outcome of the war, given that there are so many more infantry about.
-----------
I have not played enough with the other doctrines to comment, but I do notice that other players seem very unfamiliar with them, as I have lost count of the number of Howitzers and 88’s I have destroyed or captured in the last few days. Advice = do not build an 88 before you have a puma or Ostwind to park next to it, and don‘t build a howitzer until you some AT in the area + infantry units that can instant kill axis stealth units.
------------
Conclusion = for me the patch scores 9 out of 10, as it lengthens the infantry game and reduces the mid game dominance of AC and Tanks.

:o mmmh hope that there will be soon more 4v4 or 3v3 maps as we could then start clanwars on a real level of competence....
maybe a inbetween release with 2 modifications :
- clan choice ability to allow clanmates on sides
- more 3v3 and 4v4 (strong wishes for 5v5 also)
when you have multiple units selected, shift click on the unit icon to deselect one.Not really a bug or anything, but i would like to see the ability to deselect units/buildings/objects in COH, it's quiet annoying that this isn't in the game already.
I like the new patch. I noticed I tend to have way more munitions than I did before though. I have been trying to place more mines and it has worked to good effect. I see a lot more snipers than ever before and it is almost useless building pumas when there are mortars on the field.
This may seem like a stupid question, please dont laugh or giggle, but where do I get version 1.5, when i click update on the autorun menu, it only has version 1.4, so where do I get v1.5 ?
Almost forgot, I have dialup so I cant play online, so where do I get v1.5

At the top of the main forum, it's a sticky called:
Patch 1.5 is out! READ THIS, includes FAQ and DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS
Actually, there is a setting to allow you to do EXACTLY THAT in the options menu. Not really a bug or anything, but i would like to see the ability to deselect units/buildings/objects in COH, it's quiet annoying that this isn't in the game already.
I have it set that way, but it is off by default. I belive it is something along the lines of... sticky selection. Or something.
Just look. Its there.
I was rather ambivalent about the patch when i read the change log but after playing it I thinks its pretty good. Some subtle but effective changes. We are not there yet but its a step in the right direction.
Brat_Boy, thank you for the quick response; I apologize for my late reply.
Yeah, after I posted the question, I thought it maybe something to do with an exploit. Thanks again for clearing that up. Very much appreciated.
i am wondering. Why is there no Browning M2 HMG ingame for the mg team to use? I dont like having the .30 cal 1917 HMG ingame when it was hardly even in use anymore. The M2 was far superior and was very common in battle.
For things like that valiant, there's always modding and making it look like a M2 HMG (I'm not trying to sound like I'm bashing your idea, I'm just saying that because I doubt that relic would edit the model when there are bugs and balance things that will always need ironing out).
But yeah, just curious. Buggo updated the patch info thread and it says 1.6 is a DX10 patch. Will it just solely be a DX10 patch or will that just be the main focus, allowing for bugs to be ironed out a little bit?

We're going to try to fix some other things as well, but no guarantees. Our focus will be on DX10 for the patch.Originally Posted by Epitaph
Maybe I missed it but what issues will the 1.5.1 serverside patch address that'll affect us?
Quality Assurance.
Bunch of guys in a smelly room playing the game 24/7 and testing very specific test cases to make sure everything that was supposed to be done was done properly.

Just time for a new sig..
hey buggo, i was wondering if you guys are planning on releasing some mod tools, i know there corsix but we need something for models and stuff, theres alot of good mods in the planning it looks like but it seems no one can get them done since they dont have the proper tools. Any plans for this type of thing?
Wesley, Corsix tools pretty much ARE the official tools. And he's working together with Buggo and other Relic employees to make the rest of Relic's tools useable. Read the topic of "Why don't release the tools now" in the Mod Forum to know more.
Good to hear about 1.6
I hope they fix the bugs and balance issues that are plaguing the game, especially the broken replay system. Implementing some of the BT changes would be a good start. Please fix the game.
Funny thing, I worked for Quality Assurance in the Navy.. though, it was likely a very very different job.
In any cast, good to see how quickly it's progressing compared to some of the other patches.
Now let us pray that it helps. A lot.
yay, my 7900gt has been waiting for dx10. guess ill put CoH back on the shelf and go play some other games again, 1.5 screwed things up way to much, and instead of fixing the balance issues created, they decide to add dx10.
Sorry to burst your bubble. but 7900's arent dx10 supported
Please read it again AirborneSpartan.. the whole posting maybe you get the ironic meaning

FYI for anyone experiencing lag in RO after each patch, there appears to be a problem with Mcafee VirusScan with each new patch. Short of some configuration setting one could adjust, the only workaround we know of currently is to reinstall Mcafee and the problem should go away.
so i noticed last night that the patch has gone into QA testing phase.
can't wait to see what sort of changes are made.......

i have a poll about who will be imba or if it will be balanced here:
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...88#post2269288
Release imminent! So sometime during the week (Let's hope that means tomorrow! Or maybe Saturday)
Maybe they've included some of the BT balances? (I hope so!)
