CoH 1.6 Patch Status Thread - Discuss Here

  1. #451
Thats more like it, just what we need. But I think Axis should for once get a catastrophic glitch, like Tiger tank's shot disable all vehicle engines with one shot and ignores armor, only to see it get hotfixed fast cause Axis has it

maybe engineers should get an option that's called "set up atomic bomb." it would be like uber demolitions

    Oh goody, a contest!

Let's see: which allied unit(s) that nobody even complained about before do you think will be buffed this time out of the blue?

I say riflemen. Since they will be giving a (token) nerf to Suppressing Fire, they'll make vanilla Rifles stronger to compensate.

Or maybe the Jeep will have an increased stealth detection radius?
Swooping Hawk: Is there a secret underground cult of British faction haters?
Quercus: Of course there isn't. Nothing secret about it at all.

I think the sherman is going to be really buffed. As it is never used (only because there is 2 other imba options that are better, but the balance team will fail to realize that).

you bet. the sherman will be as fast as the M10

I would think gamers would be over the excitement of a new patch considering the results of the numerous previous attempts...we should all be bracing ourselves for the unexpected; granted i dont know the resources allocated to the patch (in time and personnel) if the QA team is anything like the balance team then one could be expected to be quite cynical. If this patch disappoints then it will be obvious that Relic did not and does not listen to the concerns, opinions and experiences of their customers, the most dedicated of which post their opinions on these forums (and GR), and the most experienced of which have been playing the game for a long time...particularly those that are highly ranked online.

Granted alot of us have probably played SC and WC, the fact that the balance team was promoted to have had substantial experience in these games did not instill me with great confidence. SC/WC are totally different and if the balance team were not CoH gurus then they should not be the ones putting the seal of approval on balance changes. I would much prefer it come from a consensus of current top level players (on both sides) whenever a new patch is required.

EDIT....sorry to interrupt the fun.....but i cant even think what is going to get buffed or nerfed anymore :P

You put it rusty..that is my greates fear ( gaming related, not thinking about terrorists, global warming, birdflue, wrong alcohol usage, drugs...ect...) As i said before...the forums whould implode.... But isent the fun part the speculation about what they might have done ? If they come up with..."well, we found out that spamming Volks with mp40 is totaly unbeatable and we destroied axis tier one for that ?....i dont know...
Its the "i dont know" part that makes me worry....

    Back to random imbas:

-Engineer deaths will be replaced with V-1 explosions.
-Sherman MGs will be replaced with flamethrowers (All the MGs, including the two already present on the tank)
-Puma upgun will actually remove the weapon from the Puma entirely
-Crocodiles will be able to fly
    -Riflemen will get Grenade Assault
-AT guns will get cloak ability & cost reduction

    Wow, this is fun!

    Some random changelog notes:
-The design team was not happy with volksgrenadiers actually hitting anything. Clearly this was not intended and has been changed to work as intended.
-The nebelwerfer is considerably nerfed, the last patch made it too effective.
-Riflemen&Airborne can now jump over sandbags. Axis infantry is deemed to be too fat to do such a feat and Rangers too useless. (They have yet to tie up their laces)
-The M10 now comes equiped for a lawnmower to better reflect it's new purpose as an anti infantry tank

No source noted so I highly doubt the accuracy even if it was off a relic ftp or otherwise. Of course there will always be stuff missing from the changelog as well, has been that way in every patch for CoH.

It is the real change log and the patch should be out tomorrow.

    http://www.relicrank.com/bloggo/

I pity the fool who doesn't read bloggo!

PS: No WTF! changes like the last patch, looks good. Not sure how the wire changes are going to play out though but it effects both sides the same (well more or less) so it's no big deal in terms of balance.

Yeah, AWM could use a nerf sandwich with a side of nerf-crisps & a nerf-cola to wash it all down, and Firestorm/V1 could use a buff. However, considering the wealth of actual good changes & the glaring lack of bad changes, I'm not gonna complain.

Haven't played yet (seems reasonable since the patch isn't even out yet ), so I will refrain from passing any judgement on the changes that were brought about, even though I have nothing negative to say about them - au contraire. However, I believe we can safely speak about the changes that weren't (or the log doesn't say were) brought about, yet should have:

    - AWM untouched (AAAAAAARGH!)
    - SF untouched
    - Axis rockets and mortars doing more damage to Axis than to Allied units untouched
    - 57mms untouched

Kinda disappointing, but I guess we don't see the full picture yet.

Keep in mind that, doctrine specific wise:

    - Blitz gets a huge nerf
    - Defensive gets buff/nerf (correct veterancy for FlaK/no Advanced Warning on bikes)
    - Terror unchanged

    - Airborne gets a huge nerf (putting it where it should be)
    - Armor practically unchanged
    - Infantry unchanged

I think we'll be seeing heaps of Armor company from now on...

  36. #486

yea i was really hoping for an infantry buff. rangers shall still be useless. :S

  37. #487
    - All Anti-Tank Guns have a reduced chance to hit moving infantry targets.

That sort of helps a problem with the 57mm, but snipers are still toast.

-Good to see something done to the grenade...should make grenadiers more useful (and terror/defense). (yay)
-Of course the reduction to the croc is nice. (yay)
-Axis vehicles why'd they take away their sight bonus with defensive ops that was a great use for bikes(nay)
    - Wire cutters to engis and pioneers at start...that doesn't seem like the smartest idea...on the other hand wire well i am not a huge fan of it (nay)
-Severe nerf to armour (longer to get pershing) and airborne (200mp supply drop increase cost of at gun)
-Made panzerfaust more useful (yay...although still probably not worth it)
-Will anyone get the urban support anymore? to me 600 is way too much for a stuh...400 mp would have been better (nay)
-Other than that great fix to blitz...it had way too big of a snowball effect (yay)
-Nothing done to fix terror???? V1 and propaganda??? That doctrine needs some serious love (nay)
    -Nerfed halftrack slightly (yay)
    -fixed puma engine bug (yay)

  39. #489
It's good that so many people think of rangers as useless. Makes it even easier for me to surprise my enemy with them

    and propaganda is fine...

Nothing about the steam rolling M10s raping infantry.. Maybe the acceleration and turn radius nerf fixed that?

Also nothing about that crazy HMG bug where one guy is walking on the other side of the map and the other guy sticks close to where they were originally therefore rendering the squad useless. Pretty rare bug though.

only 10 more. fraction wise: 55/65 or 11/12. as you can see, its not even 10% more health. and don't get my started on bazooka accuracy.

ostwind buff is going to hurt though.

Won't actually know wtf they did in total until we get the patch.

I am curious if they fixed the croc's projectile as that was a cause of some of the overdamage from what I was able to determine.
