[MOD] Dawn of Warhammer 40K:Firestorm

    Hi Guys,

    Me again... Khorne told me to do it...



    Ok, I got the team colouring set up, sharpened up the trim components, and added the details, its almost complete from my own point of view, including specularity but as always any suggestions are welcome, Mirage? Medes? Anyone? if you guys are happy with it then ill pop it online.

    BTW, Fleshp0int was kind to share his devastator_gear texture with me and all thou I already made it by myself, his variant was so good, that I decided to combine mine texture with his.
    So, the only thing left from my texture is chest plate variations (with imperial aquilla and ... another one (forgot how to name in English this little metal bolts, which are used to put together two plates of metal...), plus some minor details.
    Also I'd like to say that I liked Flesh's lascannon texture so much, (hell, did anyone of you guys looked at it up close? The detail of this thing makes me weep with man's salt tears every time I look at it) that I really hope that he will redo other SM heavy weapons, like multi-melta and plasma cannon some day. here is an example of how new devastators will look like:

    Oh... fu... ...nk! I love this Khorne Lord! But if I am allowed, I just want to propose to you Flesh, to do something with his left shoulder... Maybe replace this skull (I think medes wanted to remove it, case the model itself is flat, like standard shoulder pad) ether with simple badge, big icon of Khorne or something like this image on the banner (made by Warbrother):

    MZ - minor request with regard to your SM skins...hard-coloured Aquilla / eagle please?

    Also, the Land Raider is utterly fab! Can you use the same treatment on the Crusader?

    About hard-colored... Well it is a hell of a work MK... I need to redo both _dirt and _weapon (as I used it for decorations) on every unit of SM. And this is very frustrating and monotone work... I will see what I can do... Why don't you like colorable version? I even set all weapons to fixed codex black (or rather bolt metal) in last, still unreleased version...

    As for Land Raider - I must again give thanks to Fleshp0int for inspiration and to IA vol.II. And I want to make LR Crusader a little bit differently, after all each Land Raider is one of the most priced and holy war-relic for any Chapter, and I think that while maintaining some "consistency of style (or look)", there must be a little difference between each one of them.
    I am using Handar-8's LR texture as a base, with stripe under the nose instead of stripe on the hull, will place "IV" on front-left side of hull, some litanies of protection and devotion to the Emperor on the doors (with real text and some generic imperial and sm insignas, like aquilla, skulls, shields, fists and such).

    In other way, taking in consideration, that Crusader variant was first used by Black Templars Chapter, I want to make it look like such, but a little more "generic look" in it's appearance.

    Howdy!

    Mega: Always a pleasure doing business with ya as for the lord's shoulders, at this moment in time on the textures I have, both shoulder pauldrons are mapped to the same part of the texture so removing the skull will affect both at the same time, I added that little Khorne symbol to disguise it, plus I wanted to also put something on to cover the gaping black hole between the eyes and noze sockets lol

    If at some point Medes wants to re-map the shoulder pauldrons I'll certainly do an update on it, based on some feedback from you guys of course.

    On that note, Mirage... I'll upload the files ASAP, possibly later tonight. Pimpage for the blood god!!!

    MZ - I understand the need to have some variance with regard to the LR variants, so no problem. Just wanted to make sure there's going to be some basic consistency, that 's all. The TC script you did on the sides is a great touch

    With regard to the Aquilla, I'm a bit of a fluff nazi like that...my apologies :/

    Fluff nazi?!? But I thought that not all chapters use gold for their decorations (aquilla and stuff like that...). Dark Angels (bleached bone), Imperial Fists (blood red), Blood Angels (black), Black Templars (chain metal), Fire Angels (blood red), Flesh Eaters (silver), Angels of Absolution (black), Angels of Redemption (blood red), Angels of Vengeance (bleached bone), Blood Ravens (boltgun metal), Praetors of Orpheus (ultra blue), Marines Exemplar (black/boltgun metal), Iron Hands (mithril silver), Raven Guard (silver), Mortificators (boltgun metal), Hawk Lords (bronze), Angels Encarmine (bronze)... I can continue, if you like...

    Don't worry MK, I will make perm. gold eagle set too... In time. Frankly saying I am for my self didn't decide yet what is better - from one side, I think it is more close to codex to have an option to choose color of deco, and from another, I want to have colorable weapons too. If only we could have one additional color slot in AP...

    yeah i had some awesome games on this last night inbetween a few witch hunters

    one game against 2 necrons in which i got 1380 kills :O but i was in a harsh last stand kinda thing with a land raider crusader and a rebuilt hq in the middle of nowhere it was intense and lasted an hour and eight minutes had a cup of tea after

    can't wait for the patch MK the work some of the mods are chucking out around here really are making this game the best in my collection

    Great to hear the beta 2 patch is on its way!

    But what I want to know is will it fix the bug where unit reinforcements, and weapon upgrades freeze part way during building, and refuses to let you upgrade the squad in any way? its really game breaking for me

    I don't know if it was something only I have experienced due to a botched install (or if it is in fact a purposely included feature as part of resource tax??); but its been the only thing stopping me playing this otherwise perfect mod!

    it's not a bug, it's a feature. Squads can't reinforce or upgrade during combat, retreat them to a safe distance to continue the progress

    Believe you were told about that already scope. Thats how its supposed to be, when your squad is in combat IT WILL NOT REINFORCE AND UPGRADE. 5secs to 10secs after they leave combat, meaning completely out of combat (means not being shot at) they continue their reinforcing or upgrading.

    The purpose is to slow or stop early rushes, stalling your opponent (using 2 or 3 units then reinforcement spamming to stall him) and it forces you to wait until your ready and makes the game go longer.

    Dudes this mod is mod is the best like it's predecessor was

    May i suggest a few things though?
    1.- An infantry only rule - it would offer some different great battles given the difference armor has in this mod (not that i disagree of course )
    2.- Plz leave the tank scale as it is - this is the part i love most in this mod - tanks ARE tanks now |(and defilers and so)
    3. Power sword upgrades for terminator squads - ( if it complies with TT rules along with lightning claws) if it can be done.
    4. That cool chaos termie without helmet randomization skin (it's supposed that chaos termie armor is all what's left from their former sm status after all)

    and a noob question - which texture packs posted above (specular and so) are included already as of a beta 1 and which could be added on top? Actually i downloaded all and installed all in the ebps/relevant texture share folder and i saw the new ultra cool specular textures but i think i shouldn't install all of them am i wrong ?

    Awesome Medes, simply awesome, cant wait to get it finished I was also thinking Kharn would be a good inspiration hehe, nice work Dude.

    Mega: You mentioned the other marine heavy weapons... I have already re-worked the excellent plasma cannon, which will be posted up soon, and working on the multi-melta to, I also re jigged the scouts shotgun, marines melta gun, and lightning claws are WIP. I can send you the files to have a look at and maybe include with your marine packs once they are finished?

    Sure! Send them all as soon as possible!!! I am a candy-eye whore. And of course, I will gladly include them in sm pack. I am very impressed by your texturing skill. I always said that I am a good tweaker, not a texture artist, so I really, really need someone talented and skillful to supply me with good, nice textures.

    Orks

    - All Orks now benefit from Furious Charge (increased damage while charging).
    - 'Ard Boyz now count as a Troop Choice. Cost reduced to 50 Req each.
    - Flash Gitz now count as a Heavy Support Choice. Max squad size of 9+1.
    - Flash Gitz now used Carapace Armour (same as 'Ard Boyz).
    - Kommandoz now cost 50 Req each. Armour type upgraded to match regular Boyz.
    - MAN squads reintroduced. Counts as Elite Choice and 3-10 in size.
    - MANs now cost 200 Req each.
    - Nobs now cost 80 Req each.
    - Nob Squads re-introduced. Counts as Elite Choice and 3-10 in size.
    - Storm Boyz now cost 60 req each. Storm Boy Nobz now cost 110 Req.
    - Storm Boyz now count as a Fast Attack Choice.
    - Tank Bustas now cost 75 Req each. Rokkit Launcha is now their default weapon.
    - War Trakks now cost 150 Req each.

    List based on confirmed Ork Codex changes

    Hey, could you work you magic on the Obliterators. They deparately need some of your lovin'. They need to be more randomized like the rest of the chaos units. I also wouldn't mind seeing an obliterators torso attached to a defiler's chasis.

    Those are Bomb-Squigs btw and technically the only stats they get deals with how far they run to a target, damage and that's pretty much it.

    Release the nasty little bugger and BOOM! Of course there's the odd chance that it'll target a friendly vehicle instead of an enemy one

    Wow, really?! I wondered what that was all about, I felt it could have been intentional as if it would have been a bug the mod probs' wouldn't see public beta.

    I just couldn't figure out what was causing it, but now it makes perfect sense tactically!

    I've decided to give the Khornate Lord a new axe, wasn't very fond of the oversized drumstick he had before. Switched it for one that looks less clunky and easier to handle. Model-wise he's done so i can sent him for retexturing while i throw in a couple of new anims too.

    A squig could be made fram o pink horror, right Medes?
    Ah thats right! I never actually thought of that...

    I think we could use squigs as abilities similar to one ethereal had in vanilla where he could spawn honor guards. Can we make it explode and cause damage upon death?

    That axe looks like it can really do the damage! looks awesome Medes, feel free to send it over and I'll have a "bash" at it

    EDIT: OK, I did this for a little practice, a more skull like zerker head, I just re did the chaplain skull and tweeked it, familiarizing myself with it before the Khorne Lord...
