Ships re-aligning themselves to vertical plane

I apoligize in advance if this has been answered before, but searching yielded no results.

Anyways, as I'm sure you know, ships in HW2 like to reorient themselves so that they always stay "horizontal"

I think this looks retarded in a 3D space simulation. It's even more silly when every conflict basically occurs in the same plane.

I think it would make for much more interesting battles to see fleets that intersect at oblique angles and such.

Now, I assume that to stop ships from re-orienting themselves, I would have to go and edit the ship AI. I also assume that this is no easy task. Am I correct?

As far as I know, you can only delay it... not too sure here, neither I know how would one delay that, but...
you can create attack styles if you want things similar to the Hiigaran Destroyer (broadside attack, and that is not JUST one thing you can do...)

I don't think it's AI controlled, but simply a value in the ship files that controls how long they can stay away from their horizontal orientation. Like 4E said, it's likely only possible to delay it.

You can edit the max banking and pitch values in the .ship files. That, coupled with attack styles, is enough to see sharper 3D movements when in battles.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Is there a tutorial on attack styles?

"HW2_Attack Styles.pdf" in the RDN package.
