After watching this video, I've grown very uneasy and would be glad if someone could tell me, wether this shows the average american citizen or not.

I do not pretend to now america, but this video freaks me out in a way.

    most notable quotes

"what country to invade next in the war on terror?"

France, for there has been some friction with them

I doubt it, there is no doubt that there are people like that but it does not represent the population as a whole. You have to keep in mind that the makers of the videos probably interviewed a lot of people and only showed the few dumb ones.

Old, we've had threads on it, and no it doesn't show the average American citizen because the presenters have selected for dumb answers and/or have staged the survey. While a lot of Americans are, in fact, pretty ignorant when it comes to international politics and geography, you could find people with those sort of answers to random unexpected questions walking the streets of the UK, Germany, Argentina, etc. That video's really just a joke.

you know how it is, "lol so stupid"

Seriously now, were you actually worried that was the average american? Not to ruin your newfound calm but the world is full of such idiots, they are pretty much evenly spread. And fortunately not in the majority.. yet.

While I do know that the amount of idiotism in the wrold is great, I mainly got unneasy after the last part that was in texas.

THey were asked wether they support the invasion of Kyrgyztan, a country none of them heard of before and the answers of yes made me just feel not well.

I had a distinct feeling of seeing sheep.

Why do people even give this kind of thing any credence? It's beyond me.

The masses of any country can be made to look completely ignorant; especially when you have the power of video editing. The people who believe this sort of thing for even a second are nearly as ignorant as the people who appear in the footage.

I'm sorry, but that's just how I feel.

You see a person set out with the intent of "proving" just how stupid a population is and you then take the footage at face value, if even for a second? That's frighteningly naive. Do some people not understand that film can be cut and rearranged to suit the desires of the one doing the filming? Seriously now.

Of course there are Americans as wholly ignorant as the people seen in this video. However I'm quite sure that I could wander the streets of Plymouth here in the UK, or any of the other UK cities I’ve frequented, and find more than a few generally ignorant English. I could likely go and do the same in any country, especially when I get to edit what I shoot and only present a final product which illustrates what I want it to.

Being born and raised in the States, and having lived in a number of them in my short lifetime, I've met a lot of ignorant people. I've met a lot of intelligent people as well. In my time here in the UK I've met a lot of ignorant people. I've met a lot of intelligent people as well.

Anyway, I'm going to just bring this to a close before I repeat myself another dozen times. This sort of thing really gets my panties in a twist though; as I've been living abroad for four years now and the amount of flak I've had to deal with for simply being American has been ridiculous.
