Elsewhere away from the main battlefield, a dark figure is talking iwth someone via the communication channel.
"All the people are now here my Lord."
"That's good. Proceed with the selection progress."
"Yes, my Lord."
The communication ended. The figure started to arrange fights among the frustrated "participants" and the bloodshed eventually begins.

And the crowd go wild! The usually bland, boring servants of Chaos cannot stop cheering. The usual, predictable "Maim! Kill! Burn!" replaced with extatic cries of "MooFreaky! MooFreaky! MooFreaky!" and also a few "Father My Baby!"
Groupies come running from all sides to celebrate their hero, and he's swallowed in a tide of fans and supporters.
The Tyranid supporters are stunned. A deathly silence coming from their section in the stands. They are simply filing out of the stadiunm as quickly as possible, wanting to get their cars out of the parking lot before the rush. I'd think they'd be ignoring the Hive Mind's phone calls tonight.
Meanwhile, the Chaos fans are still celebrating on the pitch! Dancing, cheering, sacrificing small children. It will be an awesome party tonight.
As the Eldar Witch Disapeared in a burst of red plasma flame, the Chaos Champion ejected the expended power cells, then he reloaded and walked away in silence
Wow that was close!!, I guess i brag a bit too much about his accuracy!
Still, Chaos Gods shou feast well!
From the entry, you seem to be rolling lots of 1s today though BG!

MooFreaky, may you roll ones and suffer PLASMIE DEATH! Extra crispy, just the way tyranids like 'em!
Good luck on the rest.
What may man within him hide, though angel on the outward side
eh, Brian, Gorb's Champion has only one wound, he is a sorcerer not a Rubric.
Did my guy not get an Inv save? It wasn't noted he got to roll for his save...?
#160
He failed that Invulnerable Save.
Jackster: thanks for the notifier, amended.
#162
If I was doing the rolling everyone with a Plasma Weapon would be dead already.MooFreaky, may you roll ones and suffer PLASMIE DEATH! Extra crispy, just the way tyranids like 'em!
Good luck on the rest.
Just ask the people involved in the Sour Grapes challenge.
Good luck to you, also. Never know, might see you in the finals
Looks like my mek needs to do some better welding on the mega armor. The ammo runts will be displined.
Man, just my luck, he wounds with the melta, and the termie makes a 5+ save lol.
Edit: where are my manners, good game Tirus.

All first round fights are finished. Check #154 for the results.
Well atleast it wasn't as bad as rough rider vs. carinfex! Good game Dooks!![]()
Woo... Plagues on you all (Hopefully). The Plaguebanner is going to win me a lot of fights me thinks... My only problem is my lack of invulnerable saves and if someone shoots me first. Come on... have to be quicker on the ball!
"Mr. Washington the Inquisitor Lord in a fabulous display of cliche badassery blows the smoke from the tip of the gunbarrel. Then slowly walks away to the resting quarters to watch the "40k Muppets special: Swedish Chef goes to Necromunda", while resting for his next fight."
In other words, wohoo!
Shas'el Shi staggers back as his metalic foes falls once more. He braces himself with all weapons trained on the fallen Necron waiting for any sign of movement. After a long minute he deems it dead and jets away from the battle to repair his suit and bind his wounds. This isn't over yet, not by a long shot.
Awesome fight Rastani, that was a close one, seeing my self drawn up against a Necron Lord had me really worried.
Chin up you ugly bastard
#170
The blast rules seem a bit odd, surely the D3+1 hits is meant for units, whereas a single model can only be hit once, right?
#171
Normally they're supposed to be, but they won't hurt the balance too much anyway IMO.
(They also help some units to be getting used as they're buffed to similar level with others)
The heavy destroyer, defeated, fases out, only to be repaired to fight once more!! gg wlfhi
Might be a nice idea to mention what the person is using next to there name like Worsle (Tau Commander) Vs ect. However it is a good day for the Tau, now I just need to wipe the smug look of the chaos players faces.
#174
Fear my Kai Gun mortal Worsle.
Also a missile launcher goes from 8/4 heavy 1 to 8/4 heavy1-4, or more in case of Dark Reaper Exarchs. The potential for 4 strength 8 hits is quite frankly absurd, no other weapon can pack that much punch.
Quite simply they should be left as normal weapons, the modified rule is for unit, it destroys balance 1 on 1. So what if that makes missile launchers effectively useless.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone chose an IG dude witha demolition charge to take advantage of the absurdity of the blast rules ina 1 on 1 fight. (Has someone?)
#175
GNE does. However it'll face ordnance/barrage rule.I wouldn't be surprised if someone chose an IG dude witha demolition charge to take advantage of the absurdity of the blast rules ina 1 on 1 fight. (Has someone?)
And since no one objects about the modified blast rule, it'll be the participant's choice to bring up blast/template weapons into this game.
Spoiler
Ye Ha!!! Ask and you shall recieve! Bad luck with the save. I didn't expect that much luck. Now where is that nice, shiney d6.sacrifice time. If I get through these heats the dice gods will be getting a bonus. gg, good luck against everyone else Gorb.
---
Sword monkey- no it doesn't.
EML (fast shot) is 0-2 S8 Ap3 hits or 0-8 S4 AP4 hits.
If it wasn't for scatter rules I'd have taken the tempest launcher at 0-12 S4 Ap3 hits.
And it isn't like my guy is uber-tough is it? T3!!!

Ah, gg Gorgan01, that's really unlucky with that save. Of course, it was inevitable that the Greater Good would prevail. One thing Brian, you said that a plasma shot hit from my broadside. He doesn't plasma rifles, just an SMS.
One thing I just noticed when reading it again though. In the combat log you said "The Inquisitor's 2 Psycannon shot hits, and both wounds".
A psycannon has 3 shots![]()
I wouldn't be surprised if someone chose an IG dude witha demolition charge to take advantage of the absurdity of the blast rules ina 1 on 1 fight. (Has someone?)Honestly, 2d6+1 Str 8 AP 2 shots for 10 points is extremely wrong if you're going for balance regardless of whether or not it depends on luck. Not that I really care as this is merely for fun, but it's absurdly unbalanced when you can take less than half your point limit and decimate anything as long as it hits and you don't roll 4 ones in a row.General Nuke Em vs Higgen
Still no cover saves in this round.
In the competition of running the Suicide Bomber Last Chancer wins (5 vs 2) and throws out his Demo Charge.
The scattering roll of the Demo Charge makes it hits perfectly on target, resulting in 7 hits in total.
Only 1 hit fails to wound, and without any ways of protection the Veteran Techpriest is utterly terminated.
General Nuke Em wins
That being said, I have a letter to write home for poor Techpriest Jim. I'm putting him in the envelope.
One thing did Sword Monkey take his mastery test on his kai gun? Just you don't mention it and if he only has 2 wounds it could have killed him.
#181
^^It means he only hits with 2 shots.
^If you say Demo charge is overpowered, it's not.
1. It's one shot.
2. It only has 1/3 chances to hit.
3. He also have 1/6 chance to fry himself.
4. their SRR is only 1.
wlfhi: Sorry. The Railgun kills anyway.
Edit: Worsle, it isn't the Kai gun which kills the Brother-Captain, it's the overheated Plasma Gun.
Ah, the plan of uber-quick melta death has worked!! Lets hope that the Autarch can make some invulnerable saves when asked.....
Wait, how does the night fight come into effect? I thought he would only be able to see my brother-captain if he rolled a 5+, or was that thrown out the window or tested and I just don't know about it. Good match anyways.
Look on the bright side....
#184
Ah feck, I forget that thing. However it's you who fry yourself so the Kai Gun shots doesn't matter.
How can you say it's not overpowered? It's a one shot weapon that relies entirely upon luck and removes any semblance of strategy (low as it is to begin) from the contest, reducing it to the result of two rolls (strategy rating and scatter dice).
Great, so if he misses in any direction, the opponent automatically wins. If he lands then the game is over. Whooptie do. Overpowered doesn't mean he has an overwhelming chance of winning. In fact, I revoke my claims of OPedness and replace them with the often invoked 'cheese'. I was reluctant to use the term because it has such a wide variety of meaning, but I think it has a very apt significance in this case. It's a one shot wonder that is completely uncounterable in any way whatsoever.
Honestly, I don't care, I just think it's humorous that you see it as a balanced option when it screams the opposite to me. Amazing how opinions work.
Sweet... Death by plasma....again. Ok... shoot the plasma again... Death or Glory!
#187
Actually what I'm predicting for my matchup with him, assuming I don't fry him with the destructor first, is that he throws it, my shadowfield stops all its hits, and he's left with a practically unarmed guardsman with a dumb look on his face.Great, so if he misses in any direction, the opponent automatically wins.
Let's Play Europa Universalis 3: Divine Wind
Let's Play Master of Magic: Abandoned
In the beginning there was nothing. Then Steam crashed.
This shooting competion is not about balance. It's about trying to outshoot your opponent. If someone wants to take a risky option, then go for it I say. One day it will work and the next it won't.
I say fair play for taking the demo charge! Adds some spice.
Ahh^^It means he only hits with 2 shots.![]()
Damn. I had to be paired up with someone who ignored inv. saves didn't I?
Anyway, cheers BG![]()
Oh, I realize that. That's why I added the caveat that I really don't care, because I don't! I entered for a laugh and I don't mind being pasted into pasty bits. I just take umbrage when it becomes associated as being a fair fight.
Sounds like you win no matter what, n0z. Seems boring. =/ I like to see the underdog fights!
You keep on saying that you don't care, and then go on arguing about it. Surly you can just leave it as it is? n a challenge like this, there really isn't alot of stratagy except in what you enter, and his is just riskier than most. I probaly would have done the same thing (if i could have found my IG codex)
#193
Hey guys, enough flaming. I admit some rules aren't too well-made but since everyone are using them, it won't matter much since the opponent can also do the same aginst you.
I'm now doing the second round, but I'll probably hold that up for a few days for some excitement.
#194
Nah, the guardsmans just such a vulnerable platform that even the destructor has a good chance of killing it. Against other stuff it could easily go long enough for the shadowfield to fail. Hell it went down first shot at me last round.Sounds like you win no matter what, n0z. Seems boring. =/ I like to see the underdog fights!
This is a fallacy I see bandied about far too often. You cannot balance a game that way and come up with healthy competition....but since everyone are using them, it won't matter much since the opponent can also do the same aginst you.
That's what I meant, n0z. Not a knock against your entry, just saying that a one shot opponent rather limits the entertainment I glean from the competition. This doesn't apply solely to the demo charge, though, because with the strategy rating determining who goes first an unprotected Guardsman is going to get plastered before doing anything in the vast majority of matchups.
#196
So in the end, it really depends on the player's choice. However it doesn't mean low SR armies are absolutely no hope of winning since the Dice God can do anything
The reason to choose SR as the base is that it reflects the speciality of each army and it's kinda more balanced than using Initiative+D6, while just "comparing D6 rolls" doesn't seem fun.
#197
Dedeye Jim: Wot! 'Oo let dat grubby mind warrior inter da fight? Didn't even get a chance ter draw me sluggas... *grumble grumble snik a gobstompa mumble grumble stinkin gorknmorkumble...*
@Higgen, chill. It's okay, really.
Damn. I had to be paired up with someone who ignored inv. saves didn't I?
Anyway, cheers BG![]()
Assault cannon of doom!!!
Good round =p
Celebrate now, Loyalist scum!
