    yea i think rifleman good use a buff i was thinking something on the lines of 2 more guys making the squad 12 and giving the 2 guys bars so they can actually beat volksgrenadiers at close combat. cause if your unlucky enough for no one to aim for the mp40 guys he kills everybody within 10 or so seconds.

    also: i think the mg thing really needs to be looked into they are far to deadly... i think you guys put in the massive damage output because of their small squad and their vulnerability to damage. what i was thinking was maybe changing them to a 4-5 man squad and reducing their long range accuracy. especially the american one holy crap that thing owns the mgs accuracy modifiers agaisnt buildings could also be nerfed. right now the quickest and safest way to clear out a building is to but 1 or 2 mgs at max range to far at the house.

    eh. I still think it's dumb to have MG42's and .30's attached to units that are tasked to take ground, they can't fire on the move and pretty much waste a spot unless the squad is defending, or in cover.

    Making separate LMG teams, and making HMGs restricted / more expensive seems more sensible to me.

    Though, I'd love to see the .50 cal replace the .30 as the american HMG.

    I also agree with the building comment. Perhaps MGs could also have a longer set up time, since they are so much more effective currently, it would help with assaulting a building since the MG would take longer to fire from a new window.


    Oh, and the commander / coax / bow MGs need a range buff, it's dumb keeping the vCoH ranges for some MG's and not changing others.

    Woot! Just had my second game against AI! 7 Wehrmacht vehicle destroyed against 250+ Allied. I play Wehrmacht primarily so . Although I use only King Tigers but now they get destroyed much easier.

    I tested with 2 normal AI and they keep sending in Calliope, so I block off the map with dragons teeth and built my self some artillery (Wesp?) and a slugging match began. Took me 4 actual hours to finish .

    Actually my KT losses were part from the Calliope barrage when I slowly push forward, they just kept firing rockets at my KT cause Allied tanks couldn't hold the KT off unless they mass together. And also with the Knights Cross vet on the KT bye bye Allied tanks.

    Next I'm gonna try Allied and see how I do on the receiving end

    Again great mod guys.

    Tiger: Just go Airborne and spam MG's / AB until you get enough CP for the off map group.

    Send off map group into enemy base with AB. Win.


    Personally I haven't had any luck whatsoever with armored or infantry. Mainly because building a barracks = epic fail

    i just had another round i got 2 wespes and i had a total of 789 infantry kills within the two. i think a good way to reduce artillery spam is to have a ability similar to the panzer 4 infanrty support tank that takes like 10 seconds or so to fire. this would be put on all howitzers. rocket artillery wont be effected by this. for nebs we could have a limit of 2-3 and have it need a ability similar to howitzers.

    I love the idea of limits of HMG's and having independant light machine squads. I was thinking Perhaps heavy mgs can BUILD MG nests sonce they r in limited numbers and late in game they r worhtless against better infantry, arty, and tanks. IT will be like infantry slit trenches bit it will be best to put them in key locations BEHIND your own lines just in case.

    Also, heres a few bug things:
    1. I can't repair Howitzers and 88's. Engineers wont do it, and neitehr will repair bunkers.
    2. AT airbourne squads get killed off too easily by vehicles. Try increasing their survivability against tanks, but keep them weak against other infantry. Also, allow them to sprint from firing positions.
    3. whats the point of recon squads?
    4. airbourne have terrible aim with the bazookas they have, but germans have nearly impecable aim, which is odd since americans need all the aim they can get.
    5. 88's are as strong as they should be, a couple of shermans can take one out, even if the 88 has a recon group ahead spotting.
    6. Calliope spam is annoyng.
    7. when I tell my Ally Companies (AI) to attack or defend somewhere, they go...but they go AROUND and then mass in some empty area.

    *edit* oh and opo, hours? Everygame I have played only lasts about 45 minutes, even with the Americans.

    oh and whats that white block? on the mimimap it says that theres a giant white block, but I had nothing on the screen, believe me I looked around, no tank, no building, nothing. I selected a king tiger near by for reference, but the white block representing it was much smaller.

    I've noticed that even in regular unmodded games the tactical map sometimes shows a building, but there's nothing there. I took a screenshot a while back of a regular game of Vire River, where the tactical map showed a building was actually in the river, but there was nothing actually there.

    yeah but what the history channel forgot to mention was the Germans had to scale a small mountain or very large hill depends on how you see it under 155mm and 105mm fire so by the time they got to the top they where a 100 or so disorganized shamble of troops but still 18v100 is great

    They have pretty good line of sight, and can camouflage themselves once in cover. I ususally sneak them in areas where I can safely watch enemy movement, or have them with my volksgrenadiers so I see the enemy infantry on time and stop quickly enough to get the first shot out. My only "complaint" is that the Americans can build them from the HQ, while the Germans have to build the Wehrmacht quarters to have scouts.

    Amazing, all i can say, i love the new spin on artillery, tanks, doctrines, maps, weather, squad size, squad uses, and everything else. BUt i do believe that some doctrines must be looked at, especially Arm, inf.

    It seems rangers have no zooks, but the combat engy's is done VERY will
    only fesable in team games/mabey replace the rifemen, with the ones that would come in the half track.

    But all in all, very well done.

    Oh and I found something strange happen in Vith map. First, my allies(germans) would not go beyond the railroads, they massed on the bridge and on the field next to it, and the americans massed in front of a large building in the middle of the town. After a while they began to move but I was already well into the fighting before they did anything. Also, theres a large mansion next to the right American player which, even in enemy territory, allows germans to produce American snipers, and when territory captured, even captains can be produced. One last thing, at some point my enemy called in calliopes, and when they used a barrage, instead of explosions, there where large purple boxes that said 'barrage splatter' I think. I dont have a pik of that in particular, but of everything else I do, do you need to see them?

    allows germans to produce American snipers, and when territory captured, even captains can be produced
    There was a mapper/modder called FlakNinja, he had the same problem with a map of his called "outside bastogne" He fixed it, the BoTB team should ask him how to fix it if they cant.
    NOTE: He often hangs around filefront's CoH page, as he is a moderator there

    That seems to be common whithin the Ardennes

    I would believe its some kind of spawner, which can produce sniper. Havent seen
    that yet, but will look for it...

    The Picknicking issue is known to us, its being fixed.

    Has anyone tested this mod on windows vista sp1 with a clean install of coh of? well I did - the bink video plays but when BotBMod.exe starts up relic crashes immediatley. Halftrack do you have a workaround for this issue or know someone that does- I have my administrator rights set for the game and I have also tried running it in windows xp mode. I am starting to think the MOD doesn't work with windows vista.

    I guess its because of the dll the mod uses for intro and loading screen.

    Try this: Delete or remove BotBMod.exe and BotBMod.dll from your CoH Folder.
    and run the mod in -devmode, which means (in the case you dont know how

    Create a shortcut to RelicCoH.exe on desktop, open properties and in target line add
    " -dev -modname BotB" . Save changes and rstart the Mod via Shortut.
    ( You may of course change icon to one of the provided )

    @darklen15: from my side botb works fine on vista (64bit). so it has to be something different.
    the only thing that doesn't work is playing botb with the coh-launcher...and multi-coop vs ai.

    Fragiator has made a point - i do have the cohlauncher in that directory - will try it without - I havent used the coh launcher either but let ssee - I will try that first then launching it with the dev mode as per halftrack instruction

    neither works - its definatley something with my compuer as nugiman has vista 32 bit and everything is ok -

    Actually this is incorrect, and comes from a lot of bad 40k 'fire or move' propaganda :P

    The germans did indeed use the MG42 as an assault weapon as they were fully aware it was the 'killing power' of an infantry squad.

    They can, and did, fire on the move, albeit with reduced accuracy. Plenty of footage of it, as well as vids of re-enactors firing 'from the hip'. Not sharpshooting by any means but effective in assault terms.

    German squad disposition of course varied but the MG was an integral part of an infantry squad.

    just to curious to know if this mod is supposed to be fairly realistic in regards to tank combat?

    just had an us 57mm AT gun almost wipe out my panther tank with a frontal shot from long distance which looked a little silly.

    Alright, so i download it, and have the file put to my desktop, but i cant do anything with it, when i click on it, it asks me what t open it with, but i dont know what to do.

    When i download 1.71, i get the folder on my desktop and when i click on the BotB icon (german soldier), i get to see the intro movie (which is cool), and then it shows some logo, and then it says that an error occured and the application could not be opened. I did not have to install anything after i downloaded either file.

    Also, what does it mean to unzip coh.

    Haven't you got an extractor such as WinZip or IZ Arc (google them)? Most downloads come in the form of a zipped archive and you can't open them without some sort of extractor. WinRar is another one you can try. Hope that helps!

    doesn't work this way. you need to get the compressed downloaded data into your coh-directory.

    first you have to extract it. you need an extraction program to do so...try winRAR -> click
    when you have installed winRAR you simply have to double-click on the downloaded botb-file (v2.301).
    now the compressed data opens and the mod-folders show up.
    now take everything that's in there into your main-coh-folder. just click on <Entp.nach> and choose the coh-folder on your hardisk.
    when you've done everthing correctly the extraction-window opens and extraction should take a little time.
    when extraction has finished just go to your coh-folder, double-click the botb.exe and have fun...

    Just installed the mod last night for Of finally, first impressions:
    Exceptional work guys! The MG seems to kill a little too easily in normal (no icon) cover, the doctrine for the SS panzer seems a little weak, some of the maps have wierd non-usable units set to netural already on the map such as deuce-and-ahalfs in the axis base on St vith, and you need to have a better time to indicate exactly when a unit arrives from off map since it seems to take a while. Other than that, exceptional work and I look forward to more updates!

    Halftrack get out some damn Of skins for vanilla please, im tired of horrid looking brit skins :P

    those vehicles are decorations mostly. . Play with fixed positions, and it fits.

    the 6th SS ARmy doctrine tree is a bit weak, but the units u can built are strong

    I know Jaeger but I wanted the final release..

    Anyway, HUGE bug: Nebels and AT guns are too easy to destroy in general (especially with longer tank gun ranges) BUT they can also be ran over by both enemy and FRIENDLY vehicles that path through them. I just played a game where I watched on 3 ocassions my brilliant ai ally drive a puma over my nebels, instantly killing them. Also you need to add selection cursors around the unit (the highlight circles) or change them from white since that is not visible in the snow.

    More observations: the defensive axis tree panzer 4 panzerrjaeger, when it reaches triple vet and it gets its mg gunner you can still see artifacts around the gunner as well as the fact that he is sitting through the metal hatch itself.

    Arty needs longer cooldowns
    Fireflys are way OP, even at long range against tanks in general, including KTs and tigers

    Ok I tried without coh launcher insid e- reinstalled the mod - tried Halftrack's approach by removing 2 files and adding a line in yout target area - mod doesn't work on my machine. Last thing I want to do is reinstall coh - I also checked for all files present - even the ones you need to remove to play onine.

    Iv noticed that the one axis vehicle (the car that launches rockets) that you modelled from scratch does blow up completely, it just loses the wheels/track.

    PvtBob: Most likely not. It works, but has a major flaw.
    The Gun Crew disappears when unloaded.
    Its graphically unbearable, to have the gun be operated by an invisible crew.

    Solo: No, to your THQ/Company of Heroes folder.

    sweet mod...its awesome, i love the way the MG's work now...i mean when i send my men i want em coverd...and theirs nothing like 1200 rounds per minute that says iv got your back
    EDIT:iv just noticed that when you pick 7th army that fallschimjagers come out of the krieg barracks, and one of them has a sten gun...and when you pick the panzer army that Grens are made available at the kreig baracks
