yea..right.. i have meanwhile seen hundreds and thousands of photos of the Bulge... and there are a lot of whitewashed vehicles..mainly being american .

Especially in the first days of the battle, there wasnt any snow , so there was no need
to whitewash the tanks & vehicles yet
No doubt that the Gerans did it, after the snow came, but thats quite difficult
    when in steady combat...

But there wont have been many vehicles with normandy paint schemes...
after September 44 , the "ambush" pattern was applied by the factories
and as almmost all armour was lost in falaise, most vehicles will have been
    quite new there..

@HT, you have many photos relating to BotB?! Really? Where did you get those?
If they throw rocks at you, try throwing Panther shells at them would'ya?

the showcase continues.. we are not only inserting new models, we are also busy refining the infantry skins , even making new ones.
Lot of the detail work for my upcoming skinpack V3 will be featured in BotB, too - of course.
Credits also go to Georider and Panzerjager, for mixing and skinparts.
Changes are too many to list them all ,but here are some examples....

US Paratroopers, now also with coats, hemet covers & more varieties...

    German Paratroopers, and Volksgrenadiers

US NCOs of Armoured and Line Infantry..

German Waffen SS Troopers and another Volksgrenadier...

this update looks like its gunna be epic.

  11. #2461
I agree with everyone else those updates look very very nice.

I have been playing the mod daily for the past 3/4 weeks and was wondering is it easy to add color to the tactical maps for an update?
Just seems to add more appeal to the game.

I haven't got the skills to play online so it's pretty much skirmish mode for me and was wondering whats the best way to get the AI to deploy on the other side of the map when playing some of the larger ones like Elsenbourn Ridge,Krinklet-Rocherath,Noville,Bastogne?
Been kinda fun playing those maps trying to conquer all the land with a 1on1 except that the AI deploys so close to my deployment.
An update to the weapon sounds would be nice too, something along the lines of TT's VetBoB for Close Combat IV would be interesting.

what kind of colour do you want to add to the tactical map ?

well, AI deployment is sth I cant change that much, so we have to live with that.
At least, thanx to sweeten, the Arty will deploy much more behind the lines as in former versions.

  13. #2463
I was thinking something along the lines of what the actual map represents.

Just to be sure, I'm talking of the zoomed out map while playing.(sorry newb here)
Maybe not a total depiction in color but something other than Black and White.

For the sounds I can upload some if you want to hear them?
Be nice if some of the deadlier weapons in the game had a slightly higher increase in sound.
    I.E.
If the MG 42 is depicted as a very deadly weapon in the game it would sound louder than other weapons with the goal being to scare the death out of someone when they hear it go off.

In any event they are just thought's not criticism
I love playing the Mod very much.
Thank-You and those involved again for creating it.

Next week? Nice to see my all time favorite mod getting updated. You`re the ace halftrack :P But i got couple questions tho, first of all will the supercool intro movie come back what were in older versions? And second are you gonna stick with those Vcoh style 6 slot company trees, or will this update include bigger ones? Cant wait to test it :P
There are roads which must not be followed, armies which must not be attacked, towns which must not be besieged positions which must not be contested.

  18. #2468
Not sure if this is the best example but I don't seem to have the one map that really caught my eye awhile back.
(Of course it wasn't a winter map)

The schneel-Eifel map has some color but some of the others don't.

great to hear a sound mod is comming.
I don't know the one your mentioning but look forward to it.

Unless the update is early in the week I won't be around to get it for quite some time.
Moving so it's pretty much play what I got if im lucky.

    cheers

sometimes I have the feeling, people wait for the mod just for the models to go public :-/

anyway, sure they will go public afterwards. But I have to work then, so I dont know if I find the time for the releases directly afterwards...

Wespe isnt in yet, btw. but I guess you will find more than eough unpublished stuff there...

For me all that counts is the complete package of BotB Mod. BotB has always been my number 1 mod for CoH.
The models make it even more awesome and correct.

    sure.

ah, and PM: Inow I know what you mean.. I made some test for , it and see how it looks. this will cause some work though, as long a I dont find an automatic method.

We will have a maps update in the near future, so maybe this be addressed then.

I will always love HT's BotB Mod, not because of the models, but because of the theme of the mod- Ardennes Offensive -I really like the History of the Battle of the bulge and playing the mod to revive that history in CoH. Every update of Halftrack is like a Birthday present for me because of many reasons. Keep it up Halftrack until I come back.

Can u make the Flakpanzer IV "Wirbelwind" has the same view range with Ostwind?

  27. #2477
    @halftrack

For me it's about the theme, the historical detail and accuracy of the skins of the units, the historical camo for soldiers. The snow. The accurate vehicle and armor stats, making units as deadly as there were in real life.

To sum up the BoTB experience, it's like playing toy soldiers with a history lesson.

  28. #2478
I play this Mod because of the theme. Not because of new models.
I poke around with some of the files but have no intrest in trying to Mod COH.

I've been what I refer myself to as a wanna be historian of the Ardennes Campaign for say 20+ years now.
I have somewhere between 10/15 books covering the campaign.
The 2 I like the most are The Ardennes: Battle of the Bulge by Hugh M. Cole
(The green hard cover from Center of Military History)
    http://www.history.army.mil/books/wwii/7-8/7-8_cont.htm

And Battle of the Bulge: Then and Now by Jean-Paul Pallud
    (Basically an expensive picture book)

Not many games cover the Bulge, they usually end up having to be modded to it.
Most games go with the what now is becoming the constantly boring Normandy Campaign.

Do you guys have any future plans to edit the Campaigns in COH to be BotB themed?
And whats this intro movie Mr.Mind mentions from older versions?

    Thanks.

  37. #2487
@ ContractHitman = its available, its great, but the guys are always working to make it better and better.

@HalfTrack = I was wondering if you plan on changing the map preview during the map selection for skirmishes. Its hard to tell what kind of map im jumping into when the preview I get is some black and white picture of the real thing from some far off angle XD

+1 - new map preview please

@HT - are "out of control" vehicles still firing? because ive seen in BK that they somehow managed to disable firing for "out of control" vehicles, and it would be great if u could do the same

@Lin: they arent firing anymore . I also made them stop that.
Thank God, Xalibur and me are exchanging daily.

@Bazz: The Map presentation will receive a general overhaul for the version after this.
    I see your point there.

sure, you can alwys play skirmish games against the AI.
In fact, most of the BotB players do this. I hope , online

    FYI:
I've played every map on Skirmish with no problems.
Even changed the larger maps to just a 1on1

Only 3 more days till I move.
I'm taking the computer but wont have Internet Access.
Any chance you can tell me how big the file will be?
Maybe I can get lucky if it's small.

Sure theres a chance- as it will be a full update, the size may be approx 700-800 MB.
So not that small, I am afraid.

But if you are lucky, the new version is released in the next three days.
It left my hands for the final check and installer, so I cant tell exactly. Sorry.

Ok. I don't know if anyone would like this, but I created a community page on Facebook to trade gamertags/screennames.

I'm sure a lot of people play this but get tired of comp stomping by themselves, and would like to play with other people. And if enough people join the page, we can get long list of screen names and friends to play with 24/7.
