    hey thanks for the mod cant wait to try it out, i downloaded the 1.71 version and when i start it up i get a message saying
    "could not begin application" but i was able to watch the intro movie, and right after that the message pops up, any help would be great.

    What version of COH are you running? If 2.301... then download BOTB VR2 install... and enjoy. If other... I'll help you out the best I can from here.

    well, BotB 2.301 v1 and v2 are far superior to BotB 1.71..

    you cant play 1.71 if you have another version of CoH installed than 1.71

    Okay, lets work through: you downloaded and unpacked everything into your CoH root folder ?

    I got it working guys, i was really tired last night when i installed it and didnt extract it properly, but its working now, gonna try it out tonight, now i need opposing fronts so i can get the full experience.

    Dunno if this has been addressed I'm new to this version, is it normal to take an entire game to capture a territory? I put several squads (rifles, engineers, ect.) in a territory it gets to like 25% ish then it starts going by like .01's and wont get capped by the end of the game. But some other territories get capped fine.

    Maybe there are enemy units in the vicinty, which is probably why it takes so long...

    I'm pretty sure there were none, it was a strat point next to my base, then it happened in another game.

    Hi everyone! I downloaded this mod yesterday and it's a lot of fun, especially as it started snowing here two days ago. I did come across two bugs though.

    1. I had the same color as my teammate when i was axis.

    2. A panzerschrek squad suddenly got the fire-rate of a machine gun. It destroyed the allied base in 5 seconds.

    Other than that this mod is better than original CoH.

    God, i finally got around to downloading BotB while i was at a gaming lounge yesterday, and i can't believe i've been putting off downloading it for so long. How did i ever live without it? Good work all the guys on the BotB team, and especially Halftrack and the skinners, i absolutely love the skins, and thoughly enjoyed getting mauled by the AI (seems their actually quite difficult on Expert). I was so surprised by the enemy infantry moving in groups of 2-3 squads! ATC sure take a little getting used to, especially with nothing on the screen to define the territory boundries, but the fighting and everything is a lot more fluid without physical territory points to capture, but rather territory "areas" to capture & defend. Funilly enough i downloaded the mod, installed it, ran the shortcut on the desktop, and everything worked properly! With all the issues i'd read people having i was expecting things to go wrong, and best of all, i haven't spotted it have any issues with the other Locale files for my other mods.

    Double thumbs up to you guys, and keep it up! (still can't get over the skins!) Now i just have to figure out a way to keep the "machinegun" panzerschrek teams alive long enough to destroy the hordes or shermans that heep sniping my units (love that the AI keeps the armour back in safety and uses infantry to spot for them).

    I've actually had the same experience Lethal; I've been putting off downloading release 2 for a while but once I did it was amazing. In my opinion it's much more fun to play than regular CoH. And all of the new skins and graphics are amazing, the entire skinning team truly outdid themselves. I did notice some weird issues though. Once you upgrade the FJ infantry squad of the 7th Army with FG42s, the squad member with the Sten kinda loses his Sten model.

    Well, the SS Panzergrenadier squad uses a M1A1 Carbine because there are several period images depicting the SS PzGrens at Poteau using captured M1 Carbines. Other than that, a minor and easily fixable flaw is that the SS Kompanieführer has no build limit which means you can basically have limitless HQ squads.

    Tactics against Sherman Hordes...Survive! either dig in and prep arty and tanks in the rear to do the same to them, or have infantry armed with anti tank weapons hide behind crap and wait tanks to move up.

    I think that we should also be allowed to choose the tree that an army can start off with. it just seems silly of having to choose your army once you are on the field >.<. Also, you can train against certain kinds of enemies, like set two normal tank army's, and one super hard airborne ^.^

    I had resolved the FG42 upgrade issue in the patch, if Halftrack ever gets around to releasing that */nudge*

    Oh and by solve I mean I was lazy and removed the FG42 upgrade. FG42s were very rare during WW2, and so it is only available on the Paradropped FSJ Squad in the upcoming patch.

    not that easy. it is a mix out of the PE 250 mortar halftrack and a customized M3 model.
    ( imported the M3 model in 3ds max, fitted it to the 250 wheels and mortar,
    exported again, mixed the models, made large parts of the 250/7 invisble)
    Thats why the tracks dont animate anymore.

    If you are playing the Gerams... try the 7th army. Build some Pak guns. Keep them alive until they get vet. Once fully vetted they get that recon ability that your recon squads have. Once that happens it is so much easier to keep the masive amounts of allied armor at bay.... though... make sure to keep your AT guns in green cover at all times.

    Seriously, that happened like half a dozen times in this game, it's majorly annoying. Imo, either make crushing only apply to enemies, so you can only crush hostile AT guns, not your own or your allies' or just outright remove it. I've never been in a situation where I though 'I'd rather run that AT gun over than have my infantry deal with it.' Really, if you can't make it non-annoying, just remove it as it currently doesn't add anything positive to the gameplay.

    I think the current amount of captured weapons is enough. I wouldn't like to see too many Germans running around with captured weaponry to be honest

    Well to me it strikes me as odd that only SS PGrens and (now only para'd) FJ's were the only ones who found and used only M1A1 Carbines and Stens, respectively...seems there should be more variety (different US weapons for squad each time a new one is recruited, as well as more than one weapon within a squad) and rarity(squad doesnt ALWAYS get an american weapon(s) when recruited), if thats even possible of course...

    No, we arent going to implement more captured weapons. Sten and Carbine were just a small giveaway, referring to actual, also well known photos of the offensive.

    Besides - germans also DO have more captured allied weaponry - look at the Greif Squads

    Yeah i noticed the M3 MT-HT, and i quite liked the model. It actually caught me quite off guard, at first i though it was some rare variation vehicle State no one had ever heard of, mixed with the Sdkfz250 MT-HT. I did notice a bug with both MT-MT's, they don't have a barrage ability, or at least until they get vet, while the man-ported hortars to have a barrage ability. Also the Sdkfz250 MT-HT still gains PE style veterancy instead of US style like all other Axis units. I also noticed the FJ Sten issue, and the M1919 issue with the US M1917 MG squad, they have the M1919a4 tripod and ammo box/belt on the ground in from of 2 squad members when ever their set up or running around.

    But still i can't get enough of the skins, UI artwork, maps, and even the creativity in regards to some of the units (Jagdpanzer IV especially). The new sounds especially impressed me, first time i heard them, i frantically searched all aorund the map to find the gun battle, just so i could find whose weapon it was that was making such cool sounds, i quickly learned though that it was all weapons. Some other things i like are of course the Tiger and King Tiger call-ins, and the necessity for me to re-learn all my tactics.in CoH i would advance with my tanks, with infantry following behind supporting them, if i came across 1 AT gun i'd charge with the tank/s and stay behind it shooting it, or if there were many i'd back off and have my infantry take care of it. In BotB however, i have to really make my infantry work for it as a jack-of-all-trades type of units, and when i get tanks i have to keep them a fair distance behind, ready to surge up and engage enemy armour when i come across it, which my infantry try to distract the enemy tanks, AT guns and infantry, or whatever else they might throw at me. I'm also quite impressed at just how well the pay-as-you-fire on-map arty turned out, and how well the AI behaves, especially using the onmap arty and mortars, and just how effectively the AI uses the US strafing runs! It's damn near cheating according to the Germans on the ground, but as the Brits would say "It's just not cricket!"

    Edit: A few other Bugs i noticed, the Op:Greif M3 Halftrack's gunner doesn't work, he just hides inside the halftrack instead of manning the gun, and you can see him crouched inside the hole. There's also the selection bug with the CCKW trucks (the Repair truck at the very least), you can't select it into a group with other units, i found this because i like to select the Repair truck and enginners into the one group together (which works with the Opel blitz one), but i noticed i can't do this with the CCKW repair truck. It's an issue that was in the original game files, and i ran into this with CoI mod, and Celestial ran into it with his BtB mod too.

    A thing I'd like to suggest is adding more firing slots to the slit trenches. It would be nice if you could increase them to 10 so everyone inside could fire. They might look a bit cramped in there but it's worth a shot I guess?

    After watching Band of Brothers last night and seeing the episode set during the assault on Foy it gave me the urge to give this mod a shot.


    I have to say its amazing, I love how the Tank warfare is a lot more realistic (Now a panther CAN flatten 2 shermans in 2 shots) and how the infantry squads are bigger, I also noticed some more audio files.


    A bug I did notice was the panzershreck team, my ally had a 2 man squad which was firing the panzershreck like it was an MG42, firing VERY quick and wiping out the HQ and base in a very short time, apart from that though great mod

    Armored Scouts tip...

    Not sure how common it is, or if it's sneaky or a slight exploit, but after getting frustrated with my reconnaissance units dying while accompanying my tanks, I came up with a more durable solution.

    Produce a standard halftrack. Upgrade with MG.
    Produce a scout team (3-man aufklarer, scouts).
    Put scout team inside the upgraded HT.
    Activate scouts recon ability.
    Attach Halftrack to slowest armor unit (tank destroyer, heavy tank) so that it is in the rear when the units move forward.

    What you gain is a much improved sight radius with your tanks, that will not disappear into pink clouds of blood when confronted with mortars/artillery/MGs.

    For even more utility, attach a heavy infantry squad to the halftrack, and attach a sniper to the infantry squad. This will let you quickly capture territories as your armored force pushes through enemy lines, and the attached sniper helps deal with enemy AT guns.

    The only thing that *might* be an exploit is activating recon from within the HT. Other than that, that's a pretty good tactic.

    Finally I found some time to spend it for modding again..

    So the fix is on its way, most evil bugs should be eliminated,
    and of course some new Giveaways are being implemented,
    you will get some new maps f.e. and finally
    visible units in 251 and M3 halftracks...

    They dont work REALLY well, but I think its bearable as it is now.

    That's some pretty excellent mod there but PLEASE spell check your stuff. Visually the mod is very nice and gameplay is coming together but basic spelling and punctuation is a real let down. Even the opening movie (which unless you have permission to use the footage and more obviously the BF1942 theme, could put you in an odd position legally) looks really bad when you don't proof your own sentences for clarity and word spacing. Keep up the good work and please proof your text for future releases *thumbs up*.

    Great job Halftrack

    Visually the mod is very nice and gameplay is coming together but basic spelling and punctuation is a real let down.
    Halftrack is not a native english speaker.
