    Stuttering Sound

99% sure this is due to being *well* under the minimum processor requirements but I know I also had a very similar problem (among others) with Ground Control that was later patched.

The game itself doesnt seem to stutter but the sound clips in game (not the cinematics) stutter and repeat the same thing over and over. For example, if the sentence were "Crew ship docking with mothership" it would repeat "Crew ship" over and over for the duration of the original sentence.

    PIII 550
    256 MB Ram
GeForce Ti 4200 (latest Nvidia drivers)
    Creative SB Live!
    Windows 2K Service Pack 4

Like I said, I'm pretty sure its my processor choking but I know quite a few people (including myself) had the same problem with GC which was eventually patched out.

    I have the same problem

    P4-M 1400
    512 Ram
    Geforce 4-Go
    XP

I feel that my setup should be good enough to play, but the sound stutters a lot.

yeah, I remember that with GC. Do you have a sound blaster? they're always terrible with drivers and stuttering.

I have no problems and I have an SB Live! too so it's probably your processor.
    I have an Athlon 2200+
    1 Gig of DDR RAM
    9800 pro
    SB Live

And I use headphones(just adding that in)

I've got the same problem--horribly. System specs:

    Win98
Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1533 MHz (factory speed)
    768MB ram @ 266
    Geforce4 Ti 4600 / 128 MB
Integrated sound (Intel chip?) on ASUS K7V266

I have a SBLive!, but the windows drivers are hosed so I'm using the integrated POS... I chalked it up to that, but apparently people with SBLives are having the same issue.

I doubt it's processor--many games with sound as complex as HW2's will run on low-end machines. It doesn't take much CPU to do audio mixing; my tracker will do ~60 voice polyphony (@ 16bit 44kHz) on a 200 MHz Pentium.

    Entropius:

    Is this your sound card?

    b) Homeworld 2 does not run on Windows 98 FE systems that use CMI 8738 Onboard Sound Card. Playing with a different sound card or by disabling sound entirely (by using the -noSound command line parameter) will allow the game to run.
Live! users, have you tried the latest drivers from Creative?

I'm on Win98SE, not FE... should have mentioned that. But that IS my sound board. Hrm.

FoX... Rupracts on Vacation I think right now... but since he's the sound guy, you might want to wait for him to see what his opinion is.
