It is possible to defeat Tau after they go on the Kauyon path?

I mean after the health upgrade and the ethereal, firewarriors have like 5000HP of heavy_high armor and after the range upgrade they outrange snipers (not like snipers are a threat anyway thanks to pathfinders’ ridiculously long detection range). Even vehicles can’t get close as the range upgrade affects stealth suits’ fusion blasters (although they are referred to as “short” range weapons).

And it seems that it’s not enough that Tau have the best long range infantry after going on the Kauyon path, they also get a pretty powerful melee unit that can’t be danced thanks to the leap ability, deals more damage than the dreaded PSMs and you get to have TWO squads of it! Oh and let’s not forget about the eternal annoyance machines know as the drone harbingers that are made even more annoying after the armor upgrade.

I see now that Tau are becoming more and more popular these days especially in team battles as one of the team mates hold the enemies at bay while the Tau player techs fast to reach the Kauyon path then it’s GG to the fools who didn’t pick Tau.

I mean honestly, am I the only one who thinks Tau are op once they reach Kauyon?

    no no and no

kroot hounds gave hp for dmg so they die wont last long (personally i fear nobs with claws alot more, i think they even kill kroot hounds on 1vs1 fight)

fire warrior bodyguards have incredible range but their dmg is not so great

fire warriors will still get owned by artillery and tier 3 abbilities (OB for example)
actually in tier 3 any race has some way of closing in fast (sm deepstrike, eldar jump and teleport, IG.. artillery and chimeras, chaos and orks are resistant enough to survive charging in and necrons.. NL SP and laugh)

only thing that annoys me is drone harbinger

nah they are ok. not too tough imo, though I do think that FWs need a cap at like 4 squads or 5 squads or a pop increase to 3. Anyway, they have long range, but still need a spotter and still have all the same weaknesses they had before. Besides t3 elites should still mop em up, elites being WS, possessed, oblits, etc. Only maybe termies have a problem cause termies are so slow and then get caught in snare traps and markerlights, but most elites are pretty quick and have no problems.

Fire warriors may have the range but they don't have the damage to back it up vs other tier 3 units. Also putting togething a kroot hound squad is a expensive and time consuming process being that they need a shaper to be truly effective because they don't regen and go down much faster without a shaper.

Kauyon really isn't any more powerful then Mont'ka anymore. Really depends on situation. I only use it if my opponent is a troop-heavy faction, Orks..

ANy form of artillery really puts the hurt on FW squads, they are fragile. Try and get the ethereal, and exploit the instan-break

Kroot Hounds are easily delt with by using morale damage weapons.
Fire warriors are easily delt with by using troop carriers.

I'm a Kauyon player myself, and found artillery extremely annoying to deal with.
FWs should be the back up units for Hounds, Oxes and Knarlocs; never the front units.

to be faster than some members: no, Kauyon isn't imba .

Kyoti have a right here. Versus Chaos or Orks Kauyon is the only true answer sometimes and even when you have Kauyon you still have to watch where you want to make next step.

I've found Kauyon very effective but Tau have to spend much more req and power than other races to grab it. It also takes longer.

Actually firewarriors have 594 hp of heavy_high when fully upgraded, which is tier 3.5 and takes a significant time and res investment.

I can assure you that before tau can get fully upgraded FW you will be able to drop a termie squad with ACs in and shred FW squads like paper. Tau tier 3+ damage is also pretty mediocre.

Snipers vs Tau are very viable because you need pathfinders to be INFRONT of the FWs(or in the same firing line) to decloak the snipers, and range 40 FWs in the back wont be able to hit the snipers. The scouts usually run in, setup, fire a volley, and wipe out the pathfinders, and thats it. Hell if you can use GKs or some other unit as a shield the pathfinders will get shredded the instant the snipers setup. Snipers vs tau is incredibly annoying.

Drone harbingers = kiss your power income goodbye. I would rather have skyrays really.

You also dont need vehicles to get close. Predators, whirlwinds and hellfire dreads are fairly long range. Tau's only response is to jump SS in which gets instantly killed by the rest of your army.

I have trouble with tau in tier 1 (I usually loose). But... if I make it to tier 3 and 4 with the orks I usually win... ork tanks do wonderful knock down to pesky long range fire warriros and rocket boyz (two squads) take out Devil Fish and Skyrays real quick-like.

And to make sure my Nobz get in close I zoom them into the front line in a Wartruck. With my meat shields in place the Flash Gitz mow the rest down.

IF I have a Squiggoth I send it to their base (in destroy building stance) or somewhere else for the biggest distraction ever.

How can you say Kauyon is no longer better than Montka if Kauyon is the branch hogging all the good upgrades?

    1. Crisis flamers.
    2. hammerheads - good tanks for the tau?! Didnt see that one coming.

I've always been a firm believer in that Kayoun should have improved metellurgy while as Mont'ka would have advanced optics...

Thing is that if you go Mont'ka you get super tanks. It's got the most ridiculous AV damage of any tank, and it's super accurate too. Of course though it doesn't stand up to direct fire, but when was the last time you sent a tank in all by itself?

The thing is about Tau t3 is that it relies more on upgraded lower tier units than it does super units... Crisis Suits have excellent flamers, but still die really fast. Same with Kroot hounds.

It's a trade off, but I'd say in the end that Kayoun is probably the better path because if you're going to get incompetent t3 units either way, you might as well upgrade your Firewarriors.
