    Question for DC multiplayer...

About how many people and games are going on in DC. Im thinking about getting it but only if it has a strong multiplayer community.

At any given time, at least 10 games are played.
Everything from 1v1 to 4v4 and sometimes mods are used, like Dawn of Skirmish, for example.
Therefore, the community is very strong.

In the lobbys there is anywhere between 100-400 (counting all lobbys) but 300 is the most common peak. Those numbers do not include people currently playing; theres usually 30-40 games happening.

Although the game has sold a lot of copies, not a very large percentage of that play on gamespy. Some play on gamespy, some play only single player, some play online over programs like hamachi (people who use MODS, for example). That being said, you can find DC games at any time during any day of the week. There are also quite a few regulars that play frequently, if not daily. I've also noticed recently that there is more actual newbies (instead of smurfed profiles) playing on gamespy, rather than a pool of the same dedicated player (As it became in Winter Assault before DC came out). That means you'll definitally be able to play with others in compstomps/newbie games to your liking, instead of it just being filled 100% with pros (they mostly play automatch, anyway).

    singapore Question

maybe there are too few people in your region that goes online at that time
also maybe because there are so many settings in dow
standard, quick start, all sorts of settings.
so therefore, hard to find players.

Ive sat for over 2 hours trying to get a simple 3v3 started with 200(150 afk) people in the lobby.
That's highly unusual. While I expected to wait 10 minutes to get a game (as I simply will not play any quickstart/shared resources/high resource rate/combo of all three settings), two hours is an absurd exaggeration. That being said, if it's possible you literally ARE waiting two hours, perhaps you should look look at your warning logs to see how many people are attempting to join (and possibly getting rejected). Gamespy's lobby system for joining games has little tolerance for lag, so it's possible people CAN'T join your games. Sounds like a mix of technical, location, and timing issues. I've never, ever had to wait that long when it wasn't related to some hardware issue (long story short, my friend's messed up NAT prevented many people from joining the game). I've studied the log and how gamespy works and i laugh because of how many people would get rejected when attempting to join those games with him.

I used to play behind a router back home. In WA and later DC it was the cause of much grief with Gamespy. Essentially, I could enter a game and get bug-kicked just before start

Without a router (and with a good firewall which allows DC though) such technical issues aren't very commom though. As long as you're prepared to spend 5-10 mins (often faster) waiting to get a custom game going you can play most popular maps.

    Then there's automatch of course.

I wonder if we could get some actual sales figures on Relic games...

Well of course sometimes people cant join, but most of it is simply people not trying to join and people leaving after they enter. Either way its a seriously fucked up situation as no one should have to wait 2+ hours to get a standard game going during peak time.

This is the one major thing that is ruining the game for me.

The online lobby in general isn't all that great, which is the most disappointing feature. When it's peak hours and there's dozens of games on the list, it refreshes constantly so the list of games shifts up/down and you tend to misclick and join wrong game. Little things like that aren't gamespy's fault, even though we know GS has it's own issues (of which there's no need to go into here).

All that considered, once you do get into a game, it's a lot of fun. In fact it's fun to the point were we're willing to deal with the inconveniences to play. The fact that you will wait 2 hours to get a game tells at lot. If it was any less of a game, you wouldn't even attempt it.

If you're waiting for 2 hours, theres some serious problems. Theres always alot of people online playing. DoW has a strong online community, however, look out for those who drop out of games, or who just quit, the moment their base is attacked.

Yes there are serious problems. If you want, you can get on IRC and experience just how long it takes for us to start a standard game.

Why don't you try joining a game instead of getting others to join yours? You'll probably get better results. Either that or try a 1v1 instead of a 3v3. You mentioned that many quit after joining, that's because if they join a 3v3 and don't care for who they have been partnered with, they will quit. You're trying a worse case scenario here and I'm actually surprised you can get a game like that going at all. Most people find a few players who they enjoy playing with and keep them on their friends list and will join games with those people. There are lots of ways to get into games in only a few minutes.

can you beg relic employees about announcing new patch or giving us any information about any future patch ?

recently i have problem connecting to some games on the net.
it is not my problem, i remove everything possible and connect to computer without router
    and have the same problem.

it seems that someone hosting it have his port blocking me

so, can the company write some software to test their multiplayer capability OK or NOK.
and give it out as patch.

Well obviously a 3v3 will take longer to start than a 1v1, but thats because it needs more people.

Cant join any other games either. They are all running crazy stuff like QS kasyr, or horrible maps like Thargorum, or 3 clanners vs randoms. Im like, one of the half dozen people on gamespy who actually bothers making normal games.

    hey QUESTION
you people from singapore connect among themselves using hamachi right?

if you manage to connect to USA and Europe players, you create a massive lag in the game online right?
