    Whats the point of Drops?

    All,

I've just finished a game were it went out of Sync, because one of my oponents in a ranked 2v2 game, droped mid game. the game went out of Sync, i got Data Sync error, and i then left and submitted a report to relic. Looking at everyones stats after i could see that the person who droped got the loss and no drop, his partner, me and my partner all got the a drop?

So my point is what's the point of recording drops if the person dropping just gives a drop to everyone in the game and dosnt get one them self?

The 'Drops' count reflects the number of times you have been involved in arbitration decision - whether you were the dropper or not. If a game ends in the intended way, i.e. with all players playing to completion or players quitting (not dropping) then there is no need for arbitration. Arbitration is only entered into when the game ends in a non-standard way. So having a drop stat doesn't necessarily mean that you are a drop hacker or someone with a dodgy connection. The idea is that the more drops you have the higher risk you are.

However, this concept is somewhat flawed as a) it is only visible to a player joining an unranked game (the ranked automatch takes no account of it) and b) you can reset the drop count on any profile other than your primary one. Also, Relic have conceded that the label 'Drop' is misleading but the word 'Aribtration' was too long and wouldn't have explained things all that better.

What is more relevant is your trust rating. These drops, along with kicks and being kicked all count towards an entirely separate statistic know as your trust rating, This is not revealed to you or anyone else and is used to influence the arbitration decision. The person with the lower trust rating will always lose out in an arbitration scenario. I believe the trust rating is per profile but there is an aggregate value for your account, so smurfing or resetting your profile won't change the overall rating.

For me, it seems that Relic are unable to distinguish a genuine drop or connection failure from a drop-hack. Otherwise, they could simply show the number of drop-hacks rather than messing around with an arbitration count. This would still be an issue for Automatching though as a player would not be able to act on the information anyway.

But i have 25 drops on my account now and i dont drop hack?

I conceed that 7 of the drops are my fault were i have crashed, my internet connection/router has ballsed up.

Why should i get the rest of the drops when it is other people dropping where i get their drop because i was involved in the game?

there is no way for relic to tell wether its you or the other player who drops in an arbitration scenario; all they know is that the connection between your comps got cut. however, keep in mind that if you dont drophack, you wont get nearly as many who does, so you will still win if that guy drophacks you.

like yesterday i get 2 real wins and they dont appear, but today i get a "sync-error" so i quit, i got a drop 'point' and the win, meaning it kind of picked me to get the win over the other people (2v2)
At 21:40 the second Battle of El Alamein began when more than 1,000 guns along the whole front opened fire simultaneously on the German Artillery twenty minutes later they switched aim to the German forward posistions. As a huge curtain of dust and smoke rose over the Germans, British Infantry moved in with fixed bayonets to the skirl of the pipers.

I think the drop stat is pretty much meaningless. Not much I can do if it's a ranked game, so I know the guy has dropped before: big deal.

It actually is a big deal. If you were dropped then the game now takes into account which one of you have more drops. The winner of the game is more likely to be the one with less drops.

Drops used to not be counted pre 1.5...

it became a problem because it was hard to tell if a player was simply good, or a drop hacker, in which they would go forward, take all the VPs and after they got a 50 point lead, Drop.

since ranked games are VP games, the one with Most VPs would win. and the rusher that drop hacked while he had even a measly 25 point lead would get a win.

Now, it not only shows wins and losses, it also shows Drops. there for, if an admin sees a player with 40 wins 2 losses and 38 Drops one can make a fair assumption that the person is a drop hacker and his stats would be reset.

I'm not sure where you've picked this up from. Drops adversely affect your trust rating (which is not shown to players). The poorer trust rating you have the more likely you are to get a loss in any arbitration decisiion. Arbitration decisions are entered into whenever the game does not finish as intended.

Particularly bad trust records could lead to a suspension or even a cd-key ban. All depends on how Buggo manages this process.

You can really judge a person by their drop stats anyway...

if you play 1v1, and don't drop hack, and have a stable connection, you will have a pretty low "drop score"

If you play team games frequently, you will get a much higher drop score.

If you play 4v4 a lot, even with a stable conneciton, you will have a phenomonally high drop score. At least one person always drops over the course of a very long game, and bam, everyone gets a drop score.

Doesn't that sort of discourage 3v3 and 4v4 game play? One assumes that you carry that phenomenally high drop score count around with you from game type to game type right?

    Is that true?

I thought the "drop" stat indicated how many games you had been in that were decided by arbitration.

So my assumption is: If one player drops in a 4v4, the game continues, nobody involved gets a drop stat point.

    Correct me if I'm wrong?
